    If you are looking at a car dedictaed for offroading between the LWB and SWB, I would choose the SWB with a 3.5 or 3.8 engine. Else keep the search up for a 3.5 Pathfinder. I think there was recently a post in the Carnity classified for a PF.

    For Oman mainland it's 3 months validity on UAE Visa. Not sure for Musandam as generally there the rules were a bit relaxed.

    With the onset of Ramdan and upcoming summer, Carnity Offroad Club would be starting the night desert drives from May 9th. So to get everyone geared up to what it feels to drive in the night, lets have a nice Fewbie drive in our much-loved sandbox - Maliha - Fossil rock. We would be having 80% drive in daylight and the remaining 20% with the headlights of our cars. The drive would provide everyone with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, hill climb, and ridge riding. Fewbies will have great chance to see and learn the real fun that off-roading offers in a very safe and organized environment. Level May be changed upon convoy level. When: 03 May 2019 Meeting time: 3:30 pm, convoy will move about 3:45 pm Where: Adnoc Petrol Station Maleha Road GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/mzb26kxzte72 Level of drive: Fewbie and above. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. Plan: Drive, train and enjoy till about 8 pm What to bring along: Loads of snacks, plenty of water - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.     Started off the day with some lovely weather. @amir.rophail was the first guy at the deflation point. With a short convoy of me in lead, @amir.rophail in second position and @Javier M in sweep we headed out to explore the area around Big Red. The sand was hard in some sections which helped in a relatively easy climb. After spending some good amount of time exploring the area we headed in the direction of pink rock with some nice rolling dunes along the way. All the drivers managed extremely well and there were minimal refusals and stucks. The pace that was set was extremely good and we almost touched every possible dunes that were between the Big Red and Pink Rock area. We covered close to 40 km in a span of two hours as we played back and forth in this area. As we came close to the meeting point we met with the Newbie convoy lead by @Rahimdad. While we were waiting for the Fewbie convoy, @amir.rophail and @Javier M took multiple attempts at reaching to the top of pink rocks and were quite successful. We then were able to hear the Fewbie convoy on the radio, so we decided to take some nice set of dunes while searching for them. Finally after the merger of all 3 convoys we exited out and shared some nice food and drinks brought by all the drive members. I thoroughly enjoyed leading such a set of good drivers who were able to keep a high pace throughout the drive.

    Hi, it's good to know that you have some experience of off-road driving. However, if it's your first drive with Carnity, for your own safety, it's advised to join the Newbie driving for the proper briefing. After or during the first drive you can share your experience with the senior members and you would be promoted faster through the ranks. We have had a few guys who got promoted to Fewbie level after the first drive. Promotions thereafter depend on your driving level, tools and gear that you have, etc.

    As Gaurav suggested, you can buy the garden shovel in any hardware store and once you get the full metal one, you can keep that as well. Good to have two shovels. Sign up for the drive and get @Javier M out of his misery. 😂

    Traffic Code number. Dubai has a unique TC number compared to all the other emirates.

    i hae registered for a flat bed trailer for my company. For that the documents needed are : 1. Company License 2. TC Number 3. Insurance is not required. However I think the head unit would need the insurance which covers the trailer as well. 4. Authorised Signatory presence or POA 5. Company stamp 6. Passing certificate If it's on an individual name, you need to replace the Company License with EID. Also carry copies of all the documents

    heavy metal bumper would only add weight which would affect in long hill climbs. Unless you are taking the vehicle name literally as 'Pathfinder' and intend to break some fences in the desert with that steel bumper I would also not recommend it

    To add to what desertdude mentioned, a UAE visit visa holder cannot enter Oman without a Omani visit visa unless they belong to certain nationalities.

    @amir.rophail welcome back. Hope you have sorted out your rear recovery points. Since its expected to be a short convoy, its important that every vehicle should have a proper industrial shovel, and recovery ropes (soft shackles are preferred).

    Big Red area have some nice medium and big size dunes that provide plenty of opportunity for the Intermediate level drivers for a fast paced dune bashing session. We shall start at Big red and shall trace our path along some nice rolling dunes all the way to Pink Rock. There would be a lot of side slopping, ridge riding and ridge cutting involved. This drive would proceed upon minimum 4 cars registering for the drive by Thursday (April 25, 2019) morning. When: 26 April 2019 Meeting time: 6:30 AM, the convoy will move at sharp 6:45 AM Where: Big Red GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/YQMmsGjDKwEkcZeU6 Level: Intermediate and above (Min 4 cars need to be registered by Thursday, 25 April 2019, morning) Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance.     Thank you to everyone at the Carnity Offroad Club. Its a privilege to be part of such a great group of people who share the same passion for offroading. After a certain time I realized that its not just the drive that brought me joy, but more importantly the people with whom I have been offroading that really brought a smile to my face. Special thanks to @Asif Hussain and @Emmanuel. Its always a pleasure to drive in your company. As @Rahimdad rightly said what started as an outlet to get away from the city stress, turned into a full blown passion. And for that, no amount of thanks would be enough to both you and @Gaurav for teaching me the beautiful art of desert driving. Offroading with CARNITY is truly a Way of Life!!
