  1. Ramy trading will run you about 13,000/- for the entire get up, including installation and Total Chaos packages. If memory serves me right, I beleive they had offered Lovells shocks and springs. As for the lift kit, Daystar seems to be quite popular and Calmini where one of the first companies to custom fabricate the lift kits and add a leaf system. As for the tires, going wider isnt a bad idea especially certain models of xterra dont have traction control (atlease mine doesnt, (Yahoo!!!)), but i would avoid sliding sideways when coming down dunes. Also your turning radius will be decreased slightly while driving, especially on road.
  2. My purpose for the UCA's is to maintain the OEM setup of the car after the lift. I take turns at higher speeds than recommended and weave between cars from time to time, after the lift the centre of gravity is elevated and maneuverability becomes limited as a result. The UCA's in this case will enable me to move in a similar way as when the car is stock. Plus, if youre gonna spend on upgrades its better to go the extra mile and have a completley new setup. But Thanks, I do appreciate your input blackarmada. and sanpa, I will be in touch soon for the UCA's. Ciao!!
  3. Hey Sanjeet, thanks for your post. The UCA's what brand are they, as far as I know only Calmini makes them. I am most probably gonna go for the Daystar Lift Kit, with 5100's with the automated setting controller. Its gonna cost a bit for the installation and the setup, but it will save me alot of trouble, since i use the car for my day job as well and need a comfort setting to navigate the seats, (i work in sales, so my job is mostly driving), if you can pass me a pic of the UCA's. Thanks!! HK
  4. The noise is from the OEM suspension, brackects and rear flat bed springs, you can get lithium grease from most motor shops, this will get rid of the noise for a bit. For a permanant solution upgrade the entire suspension to a higher grade. Bilstein comes highly recommended as the off-road version in the US comes the Bilstein 4600. Nissan Xterra is Not an SUV it is a CUV and was used by the US army to replace the humvee's for a short period of time. Also, the xterra is a car made for modding and upgrades. The only weakness is that the gear tends to heat making uphill climbs a bit of a challenge, replacing the OEM with a performance Oil Cooler with Resevoir will fix the problem. I would also recommend category 4 spark plugs for more power as they run cooler. (Agency sells platinum plugs with codings 4A,5A, 6A , if the 4 is not available us the lower number as it is cooler). The last recommendation for a big difference (not major) is replacing the OEM airfilter and Oil Filter with ones from K&N. The oil filter will run at about 70 DHS and air filter at around 350-400 Dhs max.
  5. Clutch plates tend to need replacing often here in the UAE, this is to the extreme temperatures, road conditions and traffic. Also, alot of people I have known, tend to make the mistake of taking their vehicles off-road after a long drive. In fact a friend of mine replaced the clutch 3 times in his '09 wrangler, each time it was a heavy duty unit from MOPAR. As for the steering column, this can be related to three factors. First is the road conditions and potholes we face while coming into or out of a corner (Ittihad Road Just Before the Underpass to Garhoud Bridge). Second, the number of speed bumps we go over effects the joints and chasis badily as SUV's tend to shake more, especially if we take the 'humps' at higher speed. Third and final, SUV's in general require higher maintenance when it comes to tyre rotation, balancing and alignment. I also beleive your car is american because, generally Xterra is not avaialble in manual here in the UAE unless ordered, or atleast it wasnt when I purchased my '08. Or it could be just your bad luck you got the 1 in so many that has an issue. Not all cars come out perfect, some tend to have issues. Remember the chevy lumina ss in '11 was in recall because of elect. issues.
  6. Hey Members! I have had my '08, for a couple years now and its time to swap out my suspension. I have made my decision on the lift kits and upper controller arms (total Chaos). But now comes a very big decision: Shocks. I'm stuck between Bilstein's 5100's height Adjustable and Rancho's RS9000XL. I have gone through so many web pages and so many forums, all give me mixed feelings. A Major Difference the Rancho's are triple tubbed and the Bilsteins are Monotube, meaining that the Rancho's will have their dampening effects lessend as the shocks heat and in the UAE the shocks will be heated before you even start the car. However, the ride settings can be adjusted manually from a dial, allowing the owner to change the ride (smoothness) to meet his specific needs. Also in the US Bilsteins are an OEM part on the xterra. Confusing I Know I was thinking maybe a combination of the two Bilsteins in the front and the ranchos in the rear so that I can control the dampening of the rear when i'm on or off road, because the back end tends to jack-rabbit because of the flat be springs. I would appreciate any comments/advice/ alternative,
