  15. Sporting classic Peugeot lines and proportions, the 307 is set in the mould of a mini-MPV – it looks like the big brother of the 206 who pumps iron in the gym everyday! With gorgeous lines, the styling of the 307 is typical French with a dose of high street fashion. In hatchback form, this Lion-crested vehicle looks the business and would not be out of place mixing it up with junior executives who want a difference from the typical ‘power’ cars mixing seriousness with a touch of fun. The 307 line-up consists of the hatchback, which is joined by the 307 SW (Station Wagon) model. The 307 SW’s design exudes inherent characteristics of the 307 but in estate form, making it a viable family car with lots of space. Its large panoramic glass roof, which acts as an extension of its large, raked windscreen, exudes fluidity while at the same time providing for an airy cabin. And then there is the svelte and very stylish 307CC! This beautifully-proportioned car – it is a coupe cabriolet in the same vein as the smaller 206CC – with its folding roof and four seats, is a hugely appealing car for those who want a roadster but also need some practicality; it makes a lot of sense for young urbanites while being satisfying to drive. Two economical four-cylinder power units are available for the 307 range – a base 1.6-litre making 110bhp and 147Nm of torque. The more powerful 2.0-litre unit makes 143bhp and 200Nm of peak torque. Both the powerplants transfer power to the front wheels via a standard automatic tiptronic transmission. The 307 has been accorded many accolades through its lifecycle and rightly so. It encompasses typical French flair with practicality in a package that endears itself to both genders equally. 16. In an age where car models rarely last longer than five years, the 607 is verging on antique status. It first went on sale in 1999 and had a facelift in 2004. Nevertheless, it retains fans among the great and powerful – French president Nicolas Sarkozy used the executive saloon to ride to his inauguration in 2007. It’s also used as a taxi in many countries across Europe, which maybe dents the image a little, but adds to its reputation as a smooth and practical machine. Despite its plastic surgery five years ago, the looks are a little dated as we head towards 2010. That said, it’s highly specified. Just the one version is available here, powered by the same 3.0-litre V6 engine found in the 407. That means it gets 211bhp, which is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 607 also features electronically controlled suspension, which can adjust the hardness to either a comfort or sporty setting at the push of a button. 2009 Peugeot 607On the outside, standard features include 17-inch alloys with integrated tyre pressure sensors, an electric sliding sunroof and high intensity xenon headlights. Front and rear fog lights are also standard. Inside, luxury is the name of the game. That means full leather, dual zone climate control and automatic headlights and wipers, which turn on by themselves when it gets dark or rains. Other features include a JBL sound system and Bluetooth hands-free phone connection, electric heated front seats and cruise control. The boot can be opened electronically and there’s a ski hatch from the boot to the rear seats if lengthy items need transporting. 2009 Peugeot 607Safety features include front and rear parking sensors attached to a visual display on the car’s screen. The car’s hazards will come on in the event of an emergency stop, aided by ABS, electronic brake distribution and electronic stability control, all of which help to keep the car stable during extreme manoeuvring. The 607 is big, and aging – it’s probably due for retirement very soon. However, it is luxurious and spacious, and represents a lot of car for the money. If being at the cutting edge of technology hold no interest for you, then you may find what you’re looking for here, but there are plenty of newer cars available and it’s hard to find a reason to ignore them. 2009 Peugeot 607Specification Body type Engine (litres) Power (bhp) Torque (Nm) Transmission Sedan 3.0 215 285 6A Price Range (AED) 132,000 SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2009-peugeot-607/
  17. It might have been replaced in most of the world by the 207, but the 206 remains the best-selling car has ever produced. So it’s not such a surprise to see the little hatchback and sedan on sale and selling in the Middle East, as it represents cheap and cheerful motoring for those on a budget. With a starting price of just 44,000AED, it’s no surprise to find that there’s little cutting edge about the 206, although its design has aged well. First introduced in 1998, little has changed since. The entry-level hatchback is the 206 One Line, which comes with a 1.4-litre engine that develops 75bhp and is attached to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Specification is pretty reasonable for the price, as the One Line comes with 14-inch steel wheels, CD player, ABS and driver airbag, as well as keyless entry. The slightly upgraded One Line Pack version comes with electric windows and front fog lights, as well as a height adjustable drivers seat. The sedan is identical to the hatchback from the rear doors forward, making the 384-litre boot the only difference between the two. It comes only in XR trim, which includes a more powerful 1.6-litre engine with 110bhp again linked to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Features include 14-inch steel wheels, electric front windows and driver and passenger front airbags, as well as central locking and front fog lights. The 206 represents no frills motoring – it might lack in luxury, but can six million buyers around the world really all be wrong? SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-peugeot-206/
  18. The RCZ is all-new from Peugeot – so new, in fact, that it wasn’t even available in the region at the time of writing. Rest assured, we’ll update the page when more info becomes available. It represents a new step for Peugeot into the small sports car market that’s dominated by the likes of the Audi TT. And there’s more than a hint of the TT to the RCZ’s design, although it retains the Peugeot family face. The RCZ is a 2+2 Coupe, meaning that although in theory it can sit four, the rear seats are more of an afterthought – a family car, this ain’t. It is stylish though, with an unusual ‘double bubble’ roof design that flows down into the rear window. We dread to think what it would cost to replace the rear glass if it breaks. 18-inch wheels come as standard, with 19-inch versions available as an option. The interior boasts a JBL sound system and a USB slot for iPod connectivity. The RCZ’s sporting ambition is rammed home with extensive chrome and aluminium inserts around the cabin and pressed metal instrument gauges. Peugeot has always had a reputation for comfortable seats, and it has promised to move the game on further with the RCZ. A fine quality Nappa leather upholstery is available. Power comes from a choice of two 1.6-litre turbocharged engines in different states of tune. One has a 200bhp and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the other has six automatic gears and puts out 156bhp. Prices and further details have yet to be confirmed. 19. How do you follow a global smash hit like the 206? Well, if you’re Peugeot, you replace the six with the seven, upgrade everything and sent it out on the world to continued success. The 207 hatchback was released in 2006 and the range starts with the entry level Urban model. Powered by a 90bhp, 1.4-litre engine, it features a four-speed automatic gearbox and 15-inch steel wheels, as well as front electric front windows, CD player and dual front airbags. ABS and keyless entry is also included. The Trendy model features a more powerful 1.6-litre engine and comes with a sportier design of nose on the car. Features include a CD/MP3 player with an auxiliary socket for external MP3 players, as well as a cooled glove box and electric wing mirrors. Next in line is the Premium, which uses the same 1.6-litre engine and sports 16-inch alloys, dual zone air conditioning and automatic headlights, together with front fog lights. The 207 GT comes with a panoramic sunroof and rear electric windows, as well as front, side and curtain airbags and rear parking sensors. For a sporty drive, try the 207 RC hot hatch, which has a 175bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre engine attached to a five-speed manual gearbox. The RC is available with GPS satellite navigation. The 207 is also produced as a coupe-cabriolet with a folding hardtop. It’s available in two trim levels; Sport 1 and Sport 2, with either fabric or leather upholstery and manual or automatic transmissions. Power comes from the 120bhp 1.6-litre unit found in the hatchback. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-peugeot-207/
  20. The 308 is primarily a family hatchback that sits above the 207 in terms of size, but it’s also available as a station wagon and as a coupe-cabriolet. The hatchback arrived here in 2007 and is available in several trim levels. The Confort model is powered by a 1.6-litre engine with 120bhp, attached to a four-speed automatic gearbox. It includes tinted windows, 15-inch steel wheels and electric windows front and back. Opt for Premium trim and you’ll also get 16-inch alloys, front fog lights and a stereo system with an auxiliary input socket for MP3 players. The 308 Premium Pack is available in both five-door and three-door versions and is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, giving it an extra 20bhp. Features include dual zone air conditioning, cooled glovebox and front, side and curtain airbags. Safety features in this model also include ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution and ESP. Rear parking sensors are also fitted. The top-of-the-range Feline edition is also available in three or five-door guises, and can also be ordered with a 175bhp version of the turbocharged engine, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Luxuries include leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, satellite navigation with hard disc music system and 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels. The 308 SW station wagon can be ordered in four trim levels – Break, Confort Pack, Premium Pack and Feline, which reflect the trims in the hatchback. But with a larger boot. Power comes from the 1.6-litre engine in either 120bhp or 140bhp tune, depending on model. New for 2010 is the 308 CC, a folding hardtop coupe with the same 140bhp engine. Two trim levels are available – Sport Pack and Feline. Details were unavailable as we went to press, but expect them to again mirror the other 308s. 21. Peugeot’s large family car is available in both four-door sedan and two-door coupe versions, each of which have a different flavour to them. The 407 sedan is very much a workaday machine with a focus on comfort and interior space, while the coupe has more of a sporty edge to it. The car’s looks with divide opinion – it sports a long bonnet and a big gaping grilled – but the interior has a feel of quality and luxury about it, even at the lower end of the range. There are plenty of soft touch materials used and a decent amount of kit included as standard. For the sedan, the entry-level Confort Pack model comes with a 2.0-litre engine developing 134bhp, attached to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Features include 16-inch alloys, automatic headlights and cruise control as well as a cooled glove box for drinks. The Premium level comes with a choice of engines: the 2.0-litre; a 2.2-litre unit with 160bhp; or a 3.0-litre V6 with 211bhp. Various packages are available that feature 16 or 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth phone connectivity and front and rear parking sensors. GPS satellite navigation is also available. The Coupe has a more stylish exterior and rides on 18-inch wheels, with full leather seats inside. Plenty of kit is included, such as xenon headlights that swivel with the steering wheel to improve visibility around corners. Also fitted is dual zone air conditioning, a six CD changer and a sliding sunroof. Safety features in the 407 range include ABS, electronic brake distribution with brake assist and electronic stability control. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-peugeot-407/
  22. The 3008 is all-new for 2010 and represents Peugeot’s attempt to take some of the five-seater crossover SUV market. Peugeot intends the 3008 to represent a cross between an SUV, an MPV and a hatchback. It features technology such as Dynamic Roll Control fitted to the rear suspension, which aims to stop body roll without affecting the ride with overly stiff suspension. The focus of the 3008 is very much on the road– despite the high stance, this is no off-roader and doesn’t even have four-wheel drive. Don’t be fooled by the Grip Control, which offers the driver the option of switching between different traction control settings for different terrains – you won’t get far in the sand with power going on to the front wheels. Said power comes from a 150bhp version of the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine found across the Peugeot range, attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. The interior is geared for practicality, with plenty of space and lots of storage for the belongings and paraphernalia that tend to accompany families when they travel. There is one version on sale (in the UAE), which comes with 17-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, rear parking sensors and electronic stability control, as well as a head up display, auxiliary input socket for MP3 players and Bluetooth phone connectivity. It costs 89,900AED. The 3008 has picked up a string of awards since its launch in Europe and been praised its style and practicality, as well as for giving a 4×4 feel without the adverse impact on the environment.
