  1. praney what car are you talking about? radiators on Caymans are in the front of the car and the water pump is mounted on the engine in the middle of the car?!? what has the radiator fan play got to do with the water pump :S... http://www.cartype.com/pics/7924/full/p ... away10.jpg
  2. Guys it's available to download from torrents, not sure about GCC maps though...
  3. price of the car doesn't matter, i also work on my 996 and 997.
  4. Curious to know, where did u change the alternator? Al nabooda? Did they take ur old one and give u a refurbished one? They charge so high for a rebuilt alternator then take ur used one and fix it to sell it again... Next time remember u can buy a brand new one off the internet for much cheaper, or have ur current alternator rebuilt. Cheers
  5. Honestly most of everything you need to do on ur car has a "do it yourself" on the internet... Trying to get my 944s into the best shape possible i've spent loads of money at the workshops, but when u analyze the costs it all goes to the high labor charges, parts were cheap compared to how much the shop was charging me...so i bought my own tools and now i do everything myself.
  6. ABS has nothing to do with your seat belts and air bags. Seat belts and airbags are SRS systems. when the ABS warning light is not on, attempt and emergency brake and see if the ABS System Kicks in. if it does work and after that the warning light comes on, it's usually and ABS sensor that is faulty on one of the wheels, should be an easy fix.
  7. ??? what type of noise, might not be the gearbox. what year model is your car? MK I or MK II?
  8. Many Things can cause that! Alternator might've failed... usually when the belt breaks off that happens but in your case you were able to start again so the serpentine belt must be fine. if all power dies while car is running the alternator is probably gone.
  9. Try Alex Renner Motors - should be cheaper and offers pickup and drop off service. best way to save your buck is to work on it yourself everything you need is on the internet.
  10. i would never buy a brand New Porsche... would prefer to spend 108,000$ (395,600 AED price of the new 991 Carrera S) on a beautiful '72 2.7 RS, 356 speedster or a 930 slant nose... unlike a brand new Porsche those cars will never depreciate in value. i bought all my Porsches used and as long as you know a little bit about these cars you should be able to avoid the trouble makers.
  11. What year model is ur 911? if the white smoke only stays doe 3-4 seconds when u start the car, the usual culprit is the AOS (air oil seperator). Nothing major, comon problem, easy fix... However if ur afraid of a blown head gasket i would check the oil for any traces of coolant, and possibly the sweet smell of coolant in exhaust smoke. Has the car overheated lately?
  12. Hi hatim, Thanks for ur +1 on the other thread, i obviously have an obsession with Everything that comes out Zuffenhausen. I proudly own 3 porsches, a 2004 996 C4S manual, a 1990 944 S2 3.0L manual, and my beloved trouble maker an 89 2.7L 944 automatic... The older the porsche you drive the more appreciation you have for the modern porsche cars. What about you? what's parked in ur stable?
  13. Guys would really be helpful if the person who replies would double check their information first before replying... Porsche Boxsters do not run a rubber timing belt, they have an internal timing metal chain that usually does not require changing. porsche 4 cylinder engines found on 924s,944s,968s have a rubber poly ribbed belt used to time the valve opening with the car's engine rotation. so my friend you don't have to worry about your boxster's timing chain.
  14. would be nice to have a special section about old classic porsches. like the 924,944,968 and 928. there are a few of them around here in dubai. i have 2 944s in my garage and could help talking to other 944 owners. another thing is to seperate the 911 forum, a special section for 964,993,996,997 would be easier than asking everytime which porsche the person is asking about.
  15. i think these sounds are coming from inside your head!!
  16. which wheel? front tyres? that's probably the radiator fans which as Ravor said is pretty normal
  17. first of all which 911 model are we talking about? usually, there are two for each catalytic converter. on a 911 there are 2 catalytic converters on each side. so 4 O2 sensors in total. the first O2 sensor is located before the catalytic converter, and the second after the converter. the results of air/fuel mixtures from both sensors are compared and used to regulate the fuel/air intake.
  18. Is your A/C on when you turn on the car? turn off the A/C then test again, might be the A/C compressor or A/C clutch making that sound. would also help to know what year model we're talking about.
  19. what's the point of introducing ourselves without saying what car you drive!! the forum is called Porsche Dubai, i don't want to know what people do for a living...
