  1. So someone on a forum put in a different type of oil other than what was recommended by the manufacturer and the engine didn't blow up. No dyno print outs, no before and after pics of crankshaft bearings, no pics of the oil filters cut open and unfolded etc, no solid evidence, just a feeling.   🤔

Im still not sold on the idea. If the manufacturer thought it would be a good idea to use a different type of oil, they would have put it in at the factory or issued a TSB saying it was ok to do so.

Manufacturers and oil companies spend millions on research. People trying these things for fun are just experimenting and accepting the consequences if their engines die. I know where my faith lies.

  2. I used to have one of these. It was pure evil incarnate. If you gave it too much throttle, the front would lift slightly and you would lose the steering and it would take off in whatever direction it felt like. Was also very unstable in corners. I came off it a few times, even hit a tree once.

There are a few different types of trikes. Car based and bike based. A lot of people use the back end of an old air cooled beetle and fit a bike front end. There are also fully bike based ones. Some of the Honda Goldwing trikes are things of beauty and almost look as if they were built by the factory. My personal favourites are the rat trikes.

  3. The problem with those trucks is that it's not good to tow an automatic vehicle with the driven wheels on the ground. And everything here is automatic. So if it's RWD and you lift the front up and tow with the driven wheels on the ground, you could damage the transmission. When the engine is running, oil is pumped around the transmission and everything is nicely lubricated. When the engine isn't running and you're towing with the driven wheels on the ground, everything inside the transmission is still spinning but there's no lubrication.

Think about your engine running nicely and everything well lubricated. Then take the chain off the oil pump and start it again. It wouldn't be long until it siezed.

  4. Had this S Class in for a while but I was so busy with my Pajero farm I hadn't time to look at it properly until now. Brake lights were permanently on and gearbox was stuck in P. On most cars, there is a shift lock release but unfortunately not on this car so it's not like it could be released and driven as a quick fix. A lot of the time on these cars, it's caused by a faulty brake light switch so I pulled it out and checked it and it tested fine so I had to dig a bit further. Plugged the computer in and got a number of faults, one being that communication had been lost with the rear SAM (signal acquisition module, or a computer thing to most people). Due to the age and condition of the car, it wasn't worth replacing so I made with some fancy rewiring and bypassed some things and now it's better than it was before it left the factory. This car is a jap import that had been converted to LHD so there's some really bad wiring in it to begin with.
