  1. @Carnity so what is happening with this? You said it would be paid on the 31st.

I still want you to make a payment on my behalf to the Emirates Down syndrome association.

This is a cause very close to my heart. I had an aunt and an uncle who both died from complications relating to this syndrome so it is something close to my heart.

In the past I've organised events and raised a lot of money for people with Down's syndrome in my home country. I understand that it is against the law here and I am more than happy for my money to go to emirati sufferers of Down's syndrome

i would ask all other top posters to also donate their earnings to the cause. We can all live without a few dhs

  2. I also recommend maps.me on App Store. I had no data on my phone and spent 2 months walking from the east side of Germany to France last summer with this as a map. One bit of advice I will give you, before you go somewhere, zoom in on the area you are travelling to when you are still at home with wifi and it will download the map so you can use it offline.

  3. There's no big secret. A good machine polish with removal of all swirls and scratches and application of a high quality carnuba wax. Personally I recommend Meguiars products. If it's good enough for concours cars, it's good enough for anything I will drive. Poorboys also make some fantastic products.

You should get a professional detail done on your car. Even just once. Once your car has been professionally cleaned, it will make it much easier for you to keep clean.

That new VAG brown is a nice colour though and looks well when polished up. Makes a nice change from all the usual black or white VAG dross out there.

  4. Found a few more pics.

BMW E36 M3 - Very fun car to drive on a wet road, huge slides at 70-80 MPH always put a smile on my face. Also had M3 Evo Individual, very special car. Can't find pics of it at the minute but they'll turn up sometime. This particular M3 in the pic though was a piece of shit. It was just hanging together but it was fast and went sideways, that's all I was interested in. Plus it was cheap!

Mercedes C220 CDi - Nice torquey diesel engine and nice car on the motorway. Pretty reliable too. A set of injector seals was all it ever needed.

Opel Ascona - This had a 2.3 8v engine, twin Weber 50 carbs, 4 branch manifold, straight through exhaust system with cherry bomb tailpipe. Loud and sideways.

Peugeot 306 D-Turbo - Great chassis and very economical. 90 BHP standard but made 130 BHP with a couple of tweeks to the injector pump and turbo. Could never get the boost compensator set up properly so was a real smoke machine while the turbo was waiting to spool up.

Ford Sierra XR4i - 2.8 V6 engine. Wasn't as fast as you would think but it made the most wonderful noise and would happily throw the tail out at road junctions. I would kill to have it parked in my garage now.

Lexus IS200 - Quick enough but not so fast. Liked to drink petrol a lot considering it was only a 2.0. This was the sport model so came with LSD as standard and everyone knows LSD is codeword for DONUTS!

  5. I had this problem in the UK. Unless you have headlights with self levellers and washer jets, they used to fail you for having HID bulbs. It's easy to get around though, just remove the bulbs and ballasts come test time and fit your old bulbs. Once you get your test, you can fit the HIDs and ballasts back in. Doesn't take long as most of the kits are plug and play

If you're going for LED sidelight bulbs, I'd recommend staying away from the cheap Chinese ones and spend a bit extra on decent ones. The Chinese ones will start to flicker and die after a while and flickering lights tend to draw attention from the police.

I saw one Mitsubishi Lancer driving through Al Quoz a couple of days ago. All the lights on the front changed colour from green to blue to red as he drove along. Money doesn't buy taste!
