  1. Well written @skumar83. This drive was meant to raise all participants level from newbie to Fewbie level and we all noticed the same. Vast improvement from all newbies to up their levels. Well done to @Javier M, @jibransayed, @BIG T, @Rana, @Emil, @hossein who did very well in this area. The idea was not of a newbie drive, but to increase everybodies level to Fewbie. This was well achieved by all. Thanks to @Gaurav, @skumar83, @Asif Hussain, @Mujtaba, @Mick and @baselsm83 for the support during the drive. The best part about the drive was not only to be able to drive within that sort of a terrain but to have the patience for all to clear. My sincere thanks to all who passed the test on both fronts as everybody made it to all the sections as planned and everyone showed the patience important to become the best offroaders everyone appreciates. Special thanks to Zahir bhai who has come back from Saudi to join the trip and support our drive. Surely we noticed some discrepancies with the drive and @Gaurav bhai will be making and have a report soon on these short comings. Whatever we have devised is of utmost importance due to safety with our 20+ years of experience off road. The trip leaders advise should always be followed and radios are a must and should be treated with utmost respect. looking forward to such great participation with better solutions for future drives.
  2. @Faizan khan hope all is well. We understand and hope all will be well and you can join.
  3. @hossein Welcome. If you're joining us tomorrow please sign up in the calendar, link given below. @jibransayed it is a bit late. Will check tomorrow if anyone carrying an extra flag and clamp.
  4. @BIG T strange to see that someone as enthusiastic as you do not want to join this drive to be upgraded to Fewbie level.
  5. Thank you @Gaurav and @skumar83 for you views. Both of you have got it right. I have once before seen similar flip in Faqa area with a fellow offroader. The main culprit is the Jeep's Center of gravity is very high due to the lift and no spacers to even out the lift. Sometimes people buy fully modded Jeeps but with no experience in handling such a ride. The more experienced people normally judge the person by this highly modded vehicle and accept people for drives beyond their capacity. Judging by the speed and the way he approached the ridge cutting it is evident that he does not have such experience. This further endorses the grading structure we have introduced for people to better understand the importance of joining their level drives.
  6. Here is one which we have never seen before. Awaiting comments to avoid such flips. VID-20181218-WA0004.mp4
  7. @Javier M you are correct on all counts. Feels good to have such observant people on board. My main intention to post these is to educate people and not repeat the mistakes made by a few.
  8. Another episode in what went wrong. The guy filming this knew that the driver made a poor choice. VID-20181217-WA0005.mp4 VID-20181217-WA0005.mp4
  9. Since we have so many new joiners and a lot of them are very excited to move on to the next level. This is the ultimate drive to upgrade yourself to the Fewbie level. No new joiners please, this will be a perfect way for anybody who has done at least 3 to 4 drives at the newbie level, is very confident on the terrains we have used so far and looking to grow in confidence and move on to the newbie level. It's time to move forward to the next level, make sure you go through the grading structure and equip yourselves with the tools recommended for this level. When: 21 Dec 2018 Meeting time: 1:45 PM, a convoy will move sharply at 2:00 PM Where: Tawi Nizwa shops GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KKBUhkQ2y382 Level of a drive: at least attended 3 to 4 newbie drives, confident and want to attain Fewbie level. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance Plan: Fast paced drive from Tawi Nazwa to surprise terrain and relax with snacks, drinks, and chat. What to bring along: Loads of snacks - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn Approximate finish time: 7 PM Please RSVP on below Calendar

  11. I have used desertcart a couple of times, they add an extra few bucks and take time to deliver, but I have not used other websites as you need to give a US address.
  12. @BIG T appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and grow. As you rightfully mentioned the grading structure is for everyone's safety, but more importantly to match the skill sets and patience levels. We will definitely evaluate your driving style and other skill levels and inspect your equipment to upgrade you to the next level. Thank you for your patience
  13. I remember Qatar Rally champion Saeed Al Hijri from back in the 80s using a Porshe 911 Turbo Cabriolet to give Mohammed Bin Sulaiyem head in his Toyota Celica.
  14. @VishalJC thank you for sharing your details with us. I am glad you have time to escape the hectic Dubai life and camp out when possible. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
  15. Totally agree with @Gaurav bhai. We respect your experiences, only we need to gauge your driving skills and understanding of our core values.
  16. Nope. But he will be the next generation Big T. He is an awesome guy just like the original Big T. His name is also Teimur.
  17. Thanks @Gaurav bhai for your clarification. It is not only the driver comfortably but also comfortability of Marshal or Crew with the driver's capability, patience and keeping a cool head in all situations. Grades are there not only to self access and know where you stand, but also for us to know you and your driving capability better. Would recommend you join a few newbie drives so the we can evaluate and understand you better if you have already driven with other clubs before joining a Fewbie or above drive.
  18. Perfect analysis @Frederic Nuyttens correct on all 3 points. Others please feel free to share any other points you think might help to avoid the incident in the video.
  19. This could have been much worse, but can anyone tell me what went wrong here? VID-20181208-WA0024.mp4
  20. Congrats @Julien V, well deserved. Looking forward to taking you through the paces of a Fewbie level.
  21. Thank you @Frederic Nuyttens for the amazing video, captures the true essence of the drive.
  22. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't thank you all enough. Firstly for deciding to join the early morning trip, for which everybody had to wake up early morning on a weekend. All made it to meeting point on time and departure was as scheduled. We drive at ease to the deflation point at which we had our Absolute Newbie lecture. We quickly deflated, set the radio frequencies for the new radios in the family, and fixed our flags. @Gaurav bhai was quick to assign convoy numbers and we were on our way. As usual we started with some easy dunes and slowly worked our way through some medium dune crossing. I was more than surprised to notice that everyone managed very well with hardly any refusals or stucks. We took a couple of breaks to introduce the newbies to some side sloping. These sessions were enjoyed by all. Our next stage took us to our shaded place to rest, share a whole lot of breakfast and drinks and share a few thoughts. Our last stage saw us climb the Fossil Rocks to the same disappointment of not being able to descend from it. Once again we went around the Fossil Rocks and headed out where the newbies were bid farewell and the more experienced team continued to have a quick paced drive for 30 minutes and depart just in time to catch Friday prayers, inflate and head back home. I would like to thank @Atif bhai for doing a brilliant job at being second lead. @Asif Hussain bhai and @skumar83 bhai for brilliant duties to keep the convoy moving. Special thanks to @Gaurav bhai for keeping an eagle eye on the complete convoy and time and again offering his expert advise, help and assistance to keep the convoy intact. I would also like to appreciate the very positive and enthusiastic approach from @Frederic Nuyttens, @jibransayed, @BIG T, @Rana, @Javier M, @ace1988, @Mujtaba and @Julien V Thanks for sharing your pics on the Gallery @Frederic Nuyttens, I have also shared my pics. Waiting for all to share their pics also. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/100-newbie-drive-kalbamaliha-7-dec-2018# All absolute newbie please share you thoughts here.
