This is the revised plan: I marked the whole Rahal Desert Challenge area in the red polygon. I definitely want to stay out of there. Our camp site (NEW CAMP) is close to the exit, so once we pack up we head onto the E15 towards Arada and fuel up in Khanoor before making our way back home. If time permits we can play around a bit in the dunes around the camp site. These are similar to what you can find in the Yellow truck Area. Definitely not small dunes.

UPDATE: Our dear friends @Andrew John Melvill@Aser@DP1011and @Luke K P aka The Thuraya Strikers will be crossing our planned path (yellow line) while doing the Rahal Desert Challenge on the same exact weekend With 30 teams of 4 driving in that area, i will alter our planned track a bit. Otherwise it might be a rude awakening !! We are rooting for you guys!!!

Hi @Soap if your children can endure full day drives and have done it before, it would be ok. But it will be very taxing on them.

The Omani guys are well known for this. They are crazy about Xterra and most likely this is VK swap where they swap the stock 4.0 engine with the 5.6 V8 from the Patrol. Additionally they do this in 4Lo on high rpm and only for “insta pleasure”, not a 4 hrs drive like this. You are totally correct this style of driving is extremely dangerous and does not belong in our midst. Imagine your 10 car convoy has to follow your tracks in this drift style 😅

I believe they are sturdy and convenient, but also very slow. Fixing a pop-out i think is impossible with these.

I do think Thule could be your best solution, but if it's a one time thing, you can perhaps check out Amazon and get some universal (adjustable) roof cross bars.
