DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED One of the things i always loved about Off-roading is the ability to explore new areas and to "boldly go where no others have gone before". The Al Fayah area is also new to me so we will see how it goes and if this area could become one of our new Carnity favorites. The plan is to explore this area and keep a brisk pace as much as we can. Considering this is a Fewbie+ drive you can expect criss-crossings and some challenges along the way to keep all of us entertained. You will find the convoy positions below: 1) Frederic - SWB Blue Pajero - Crew @Frederic 2) Xavier Treasurer - Blue Xterra - Fewbie+ @Xavier Treasurer 3) Humayun Ghias - White Y62 Patrol - Fewbie+ @Humayun Ghias 4) Hasan Wahlan - Landcruiser Beige - Fewbie+ @Hasan Wahlan 5) Mus_hus78 - Pajero LWB Grey - Fewbie+ @Mus_hus78 6) GauravSoni - Pajero LWB Dark Grey - Intermediate @GauravSoni 7) Mario Cornejo - Patrol Y61 SWB - Intermediate @Mario Cornejo 8- Lakshmi Narasimhan - Pajero LWB Champagne - Fewbie+ @Lakshmi Narasimhan 9) Zed - Landcruiser LC100 Black - Fewbie+ @Zed 10) Farouq Owdeh - Jeep Grand Cherokee - Fewbie+ @Farouq Owdeh 11) M.Seidam - Nissan Xterra White - Advisor - @M.Seidam We will be using Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz. The nearest gas station where you can fill up is here: https://goo.gl/maps/zZ1A1kxAdENTBYuN6 The meeting point is here: https://goo.gl/maps/Y4i9dF21NGZSvdeaA See you guys tomorrow !

This mainly depends on the availability of the trip leads, of which some are now taking a well deserved break. Furthermore, the temperatures in the afternoon in July and August are still well above 40 degrees Celsius, which makes off-roading more challenging for the vehicles and also for the members if recoveries are being done. I am also not a morning person but gladly take a morning drive where the temps are still somewhat acceptable and we can exit by 09:00 before it really becomes scorching hot.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR CROSSING THE BORDERS: Dubai, UAQ, RAK, and Sharjah residents will need to procure a valid negative PCR test (max 2 days old) prior to entering Abu Dhabi. You will also need to install the Al Hosn App and the result should reflect in your app that you have received a PCR test within the last 48hrs. (SMS or printout will not be accepted at the border. Once you have been vaccinated more than 28 days ago, the negative PCR test will offer you 7 days multiple entry to Abu Dhabi. There are many test-centers in each Emirate (drive through or via appointment). If in doubt please ask on the drive topic so we can assist you further.

Just make sure your stockings don’t come falling off and ending up in the face of the one sweeping the convoy ! -
OBD II Bluetooth Scanner: worth the money?
Frederic replied to Lorenzo Candelpergher's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
Most budget OBD scanners are made to read out and reset faults that create an Engine Check Light. Diagnostics like the one you are describing will most likely need more advanced OBD readers that are equipped with historical trending based parameter sets. I think these are more in the 3-4000 AED range to start. I have a DragonMart one for basic fault resetting and also a Bluetooth chip that works with the Torque Pro Android App. -
Need Some Advice Re: Skid Plate
Frederic replied to samamara's topic in Mitsubishi Pajero Forum in UAE
For the long wheel base Pajeros like yours, the rear skid plate is definitely needed. The reason for that is that the Pajero it’s rear bumper design is working like a sand scooper and eventually the whole rear bumper might get torn off. This rear skid plate is an easy fix and many off-road shops can install one for you for about 300-400dhs. A front skid plate is interesting as soon as you start driving on Fewbie and above levels. It protects the radiator and front bumper against bumps and impact. These are usually costing around 1200dhs for a decent 8mm plate installed. With regards to the kill switch, I agree with you; if you are used to unplugging the ABS connector in the engine bay, this is totally fine. The kill switch would make things a bit easier but it’s not gonna make any difference. I think those same shops would charge around 150dhs for one. -
