  1. Hi @Nayan Shenai Attached video explains it clearly. Just have a few things to add: * Put the STEP frequency to 6.25 if you program the first 4 frequencies in the radio. *Put the STEP frequency to 12.5 if you program the fifth channel (462.88750). You can either program these channels one by one into your radio, which is the easiest for you later on, or you can just enter the frequency without saving it. Our radios are programmed from Channel 1 to Channel 5 according to the following frequencies: Option 5 in your menu should be on Narrowband. Option 10 and 12 in your menu should be set to OFF (we are not using CT codes). BaoFeng_UV-5R_Manual_(1).pdf
  2. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ Welcome to Carnity ! Thanks for introducing yourself. See you on Friday ! Welcome to Carnity @Theunis Please provide us the following information: * Which car 4x4 are you driving ? * Any prior offroad experience ? * Are the towhooks on the front and back available and in good condition ?
  3. Hi, For a first drive we advise and notice that it's always better to drive alone, as it enables you to focus more on the task at hand, but of course you are totally free to bring your son along.
  4. Nativa is similar to the Fortuner 2.7 Little bit underpowered, but in the right hands they can go a long way. @Rizwanm2 has one and manages very well.
  5. Welcome to Carnity @Hariharan Please provide us with the following information: Please share your vehicle details below Prior off-road experience (Yes/No) Confirm front and rear tow hooks in good condition and usable
  6. Hi Szymon, i will be doing the Newbie Al Qudra Drive. Yes you can collect your radio anytime. Plz text me on 056 504 2632
  7. That looks great. Thanks for sharing. As i am currently driving my wife's car (same as yours) i'll probably need to get the same done. Although i have a tow hitch underneath that cover so i think this one is giving some protection too.
  8. My other half is on the forum. So it’s already too late for me 😜 Maybe here: http://www.lambda-uae.com/2013/ Or look for reviews on Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom, and order them online.
  9. Welcome to the club @E.C. TAN !
  10. Nice review below: https://geardiary.com/2013/05/23/baofeng-uv-5ra-review-can-a-50-ham-radio-be-any-good/
  11. I leave it up to anyone to buy whatever they want. I only advise newbies to start with a radio that is not too expensive and easy to set up for the main reason that starting a hobby is not a cheap thing and they will be confronted with many other investments along the way. Once you reach the point that you fully understand the functionalities and flaws of that radio, you can perfectly upgrade to a Yaesu or something more professional. The MT777 (now made by Crony) is sharing lots of components with the Baofeng radios. I recently programmed a Crony radio with a Baofeng programming cable and Baofeng software. The main components to look at are: * Sound: A 200dhs radio will probably sound louder and more crisp than a 50dhs model. * Battery: A 2000mAh battery will last longer than a 1200mAh one. * Build quality. * Availability of accessories, support, etc...
  12. There are some guys on Youtube that did some trials with bigger antennas, some with better results, some with much worse results as the unit is normally calibrated with the standard antenna. Especially the UV5R is super popular in USA with the HAM radio guys, so they try out all these things.
  13. Correct i was in DM earlier this week and saw a banner that showed them at 75AED per piece. The Kenwood TK-UV3 is indeed mostprobably a chinese knockoff. That's why i am more inclined to go for Baofeng due to the amount of information, tutorials, and accesories available.
  14. These towhooks are fine, and as it's a recent vehicle they will be in good condition. See you soon !
  15. Thanks for the nice introduction @Gregory Perkin ! Another proud Mira member That sure looks like a great ride. Welcome to the Carnity family, where you will learn all there is to know about offroading in the UAE. Don't hesitate to use the forum to post questions, we are here to help !
  16. Hi @Rinelle Sanaani i've noticed you signed up for both Newbie drives. Please take note these are two different Newbie drives in different areas (Dubai and Sweihan). Please select one of the drives. Thanks !
  17. Hi Jorge, These Carnity spare radios are not for sale as we need them now on the busy off-road season. Please have a look at the Advice section where I wrote a list of recommended models available in dragon mart. (Crony MT777, Baofeng UV5R) For the flag the AOR flag is a very good option. Some Dragon Mart shops sell flags too, or a fishing pole properly mounted with a flag on it also works great.
  18. When joining Carnity Off-road Club, there will come a time that you’ll need to start looking for deflators, pressure gauges, compressors, flag, etc... Dragon Mart is a wonderful shopping paradise but finding the item you need is indeed sometimes a daunting task. So I listed below some shops and their locations that might be of help: Off-road Flag Section: EA Address: EA01 Shop: S&D Autoparts Deflator tool and pressure gauge Section: EB Address: EBD05 Shop: Taizhou Yian Trade Two Way Radio Lots of options, but the BA section has the most shops. Look out for the big CRONY labeled shop. They have the Motorola MT777 = 120 - 150 AED. Crony MT777 = 80 - 120 AED Also the Baofeng UV-5R is still popular and easy to find. Costs about 75 AED. Floor Jack & Tools JZX shop in section EA, no. EAA25 2 Ton floor jack with swivel neck = 120 - 150 AED (Recommended) Tool kit = 50-100 AED Compressor Mainly available in BA section. Have a walk and haggle a bit. The Camel logo brand is pretty good. Available in single or twin cylinder model. Single cylinder = 100 -150 AED Twin Cylinder = 150 -200 AED (Recommended) Please take note that we are not affiliated with these shops nor do we give any guarantees about their items. We solely provide the location where you can find these most common items to save your time.
  19. Hi @Nayan Shenai both are very good radios but the Kenwood will be more difficult to program from what i have seen and read. The Baofeng UV-9R will probably be easier to program as Baofeng has lots of enthusiast users with Youtube tutorials. Also batteries and accesories are easier to find for Baofeng radios.
