Can I install diff lock system in an old 4x4?
Frederic replied to Badar Tariq's topic in Offroad General Discussion
The 3.5 SWB is also good, but from intermediate level will need to pushed harder and you’ll have less power margin. The 3.8 has enough margin and eventually will run a bit cooler. @Wrangeld has recently bought a 3.8 and also did test a 3.5 and might be able to tell you the difference. -

DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED (4:30PM) Dear Carnitees, The long range dunes in Faqa, followed by some small technical areas, and maybe a little visit to "Little Sweihan" is on our drive plan coming Friday. @Tamas Hoffmann will be my second lead. As @Brette is now eligible to lead a portion of Fewbie drives, he will be in Center Forward position and take over the lead whenever he is comfortable of doing so. I have no doubt he will be leading us to nice dunes ! @Desert Dweller will be our trusty captain at the back of the ship, and will keep the convoy together and moving. Thanks and see you on Friday !

Mechanical Electrician for my Wrangler
Frederic replied to Alexander Alcala's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
The first thing to check is proper grounding, as this is usually the first thing that starts to fail. Have a look at the connection points to see if there is no rust or if the wires are slightly loose. Maybe one of the LEDs is on its way out and causing a higher current than the other which upsets your monitoring system. I am just thinking out loud here. Maybe @Barry can pitch in with an idea. -

How to get comprehensive insurance for young driver?
Frederic replied to Rahimdad's topic in General Discussions
According to my broker: "there is a specific clause from the Insurance Authority for Young and Novice drivers below 25 years of age. Various companies have different rules when it comes to issuing a policy or if you want to add an additional driver to your policy who is below 25 years of age as the risk of an at fault accident is more when the driver is young. RSA specifically has denied me previously a full cover for one of my clients who wanted to add his daughter as an additional driver who was 20 YO". So it looks like maybe you should check once with a few other insurance suppliers. AXA might be better for this. -

That is indeed a strange issue. 1) Are these the original headlights ? 2) Are they LED headlights ? If so the anti flicker harness might be having an issue. This might be related: -
Advice purchasing a 4x4 in Dubai!
Frederic replied to redonettii's topic in Offroad General Discussion
A 2000/2001 will be the less powerful 3.3 engine, @Rahimdad will know more about them. Personally i would no spend more than 6-8000 Dirhams on them, and use the remaining amount in your budget to get them completely offroad ready: - Fresh fluids and sparkplugs. - Checkup on suspension bushings and shocks. - Drive belts. - Fresh Amaron battery. - Checkup of all electrical wiring and replace where needed. -
Advice purchasing a 4x4 in Dubai!
Frederic replied to redonettii's topic in Offroad General Discussion
Hi @Sreejith Sreenivasan big difference between the two. The Armada is pretty capable but very heavy and not so nimble. The older Pathfinder Series R50 are easy to fix, are smaller and more reliable as well. -
Fancy gadget... Until you use it 10 times and the sand starts to get inbetween the cylinder, or the hoses start to leak. You will also need an onboard air compressor.

Can I install diff lock system in an old 4x4?
Frederic replied to Badar Tariq's topic in Offroad General Discussion
Hi @Badar Tariq, Looking at your budget and the performance of the vehicles in our club, i would recommend the following: 1) Nissan Xterra. Even the basic model is an amazing offroader that will fit your budget. 2) Mitsubishi Pajero LWB: 3.5 or 3.8 (3.8 has bit more power). Generation 4 3) Mitsubishi Pajero SWB: 3.5 or 3.8 (3.8 has bit more power).Generation 4 4) Nissan Pathfinder R50 model. Go for the 3.5 model. -
