  1. Welcome @Stuart G !! See you soon in the sand !
  2. Sorry to hear that @Hetal No worries we will definitely do more of those coming winter
  3. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED @Andrew John Melvill@Alex M@Raghav1996@nickJp@Emanuel@Amr J@saumik1989@Osamamasfary@Mehmet Volga@Jose Luis Campos@Andreas Riis@Hetal@Vijaya Kumar Doppa@Amal Sunil@rroker@Mike M.@Sviatoslav@Ishraque@khlief@Zubail@Ben Lee@Zubair@Haneef Thayyil@Ahmed Wagdy@Brett Eicher@Anoop Nair@Vanessa8580 Thank you all for signing up ! As mentioned on the drive post, this will be a scenic leisure drive, which combines some farm tracks with dunes, and sabkha crossings. The aim is to just enjoy the beautiful Marmoom conservation area and spot some gazelles, oryx, or camels (or whatever else we can find). As the convoy is rather large, please be careful at the entry point where you cross the bicycle track. Please park on the sandy patch and not on the bicycle track itself. Beware of the cyclists passing by. Upon arrival you can deflate to 14-15psi. Please approach any of us or the support members in list above to help you out with deflating if this is new for you. We will use the radio channel 4: 446.081Mhz as our comms channel once we are driving. Please program your radio beforehand or you can just enter the frequency on your radio. In doubt we can help you out. If you are new to deflating, please make sure to arrive at least 15mins (6.45AM) prior to the meeting time. This will allow us to help you out without losing too much time. See you all tomorrow morning fresh and sharp
  4. the camel is faster than the dobinsons but far less reliable. Keep your Dobinsons. I have one too and very happy with it.
  5. Funny thing is that the Camel double piston is as fast or perhaps even slightly faster than the ARB twin compressor 😜
  6. Did you try using car polish? It looks indeed like a rough coating. Perhaps bring it once to a detailing center and ask them to gently use the polishing disc machine to see if it comes off.
  7. Dear @Osamamasfaryand @Raghav1996 A flag, radio, and compressor will be needed from the second drive onwards. For your very first drive we can allow for some exceptions and we will try to help out. Have a look at the topics that @Jose Luis Camposhad posted here above. In one single trip to Dragon Mart you can get all three sorted for low cost: - Motorola or Crony MT777 (140dhs approx) or Baofeng UV5R (80dhs approx) radio. - Flag (40-80dhs approx). - Compressor: The big double cylinder camel compressors is around 300dhs. Speedex has it as well under the name VITALY. There are also smaller models but don't expect them to last more than 2 drives. The ARB inbuilt compressors are indeed great but definitely not needed as a beginner.
  8. Ouch. For most of our drives the exit time is "tentative" because there could be some stucks, breakdowns, or other things that might extend the regular timing. In this case because it's a long convoy i do expect it will be easily 11.30 by the time we exit, and the exit is planned to be in Faqa, which is a bit of a drive back to Dubai. If the other commitment is fixed, its better not to take any chances. There will be plenty more drives in the coming winter season. I leave it up to you to decide if it's worth taking your chance
  9. Fantastic! You will be loving your Raptor in the sand. @Mike M. will be your neighbour in the convoy with his black Raptor See you Saturday !
  10. Thanks for the quick response @Kuba Roszyk ! I have added you to the going list because i have expanded the RSVP total. Main reason for this expansion is the fact that this is a gentle overlanding style of drive, so the plan is to keep it easy. In combination with the helpful support i have i was able to extend the convoy to a bigger size.
  11. Dear @Alex M@Raghav1996@Kuba Roszyk@nickJp@Amr J@saumik1989@Osamamasfary Welcome to Carnity Offroad Club ! 12. Thats indeed a lovely drive. I've included a route that starts from Wadi Shees park and takes you through the wadi all the way to Mirbah Beach. @Jameskm take note whenever you would drive in wadis and mountains to take specific attention to the weather conditions. Never enter these areas during very overcast weather or when there is chance of rain. shees-park-to-mirbah-beach.gpx
  13. In some vehicles this acts as a simple reinforcement of the bumper itself, while in others it is a necessary component that would take the hit in case of a frontal impact and would reduce potential damages to the engine and surrounding components. Could you perhaps share some photos ?
  14. Hi @Jameskm Qudra area could be a good option. I've included in the attachment two potential routes. You can download this .gpx file and open it with any GPS app like GaiaGPS (free account), Gurumaps, or also Wikiloc or Alltrails. Both are in the Qudra area and very simple. There is one that takes you through the Qudra lakes, which they might like. In general, we would never recommend venturing out alone of course. On the other hand, these routes are mostly on hard tracks. No in the actual dunes. You can go a little bit towards the dunes for a snack and sitdown but not further than that when you are all alone. There is other options further up north like Mleiha, Batayeh, etc... If that would be in your plan as well let me know i can share some scenic tracks of UAQ and RAK. lakes-route.gpx qudra-faqa.gpx

  16. Drive Theme Another famous Scenic drive, where the focus is more on enjoying the terrain than on bashing any dunes. We will be covering a big portion of the Marmoom Conservation Reserve, trying to spot Oryx, gazelles, and take regular breaks for socializing and taking photos. Bring your camera and snacks We request every member who joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities. 17. Dear @vinayaknam. Take note this is a Fewbie level drive. You are currently at Newbie level and not yet eligible to join.
  18. What you perhaps can do is buy the Garmin GLO 2: Garmin GLO 2: Reviewed By A Professional Navigator – Casual Navigation This bluetooth GPS receiver can pair with your ipad, so you end up having more accurate GPS reception. Device overheating is indeed a bit of an issue. I usually try to mount my devices in front of an AC vent to keep them cool, or sometimes hang a piece of cloth inbetween the device and the windshield to keep it in the shade.
