  1. Some cracking pics in there @Rizwan Waheed I'm glad you enjoyed the drive, I loved it too Haha I hope you make it @Probir Mukherjee it was great to see your confidence grow during the drive. I remember when you passed on a dune in Shuwaib (when your daughter was here) She wouldn't believe what you did yesterday Keep growing my friend!
  2. Ah Ha! Great work @Athula Dharmadada see you soon in the dunes . Beep Beep!!
  3. Drive Report Did I not tell you we would have fun? 😉 We started off promptly and played around for a little bit to get the desert wheels in motion. It’s a well-trodden path and the sand conditions proved quite tricky - So we popped across the road and got down to business! There were lots of technical areas to navigate so the odd refusal here and there was to be expected in such a large convoy. Kudos to the guys at the back @Rizwan Waheed and @Ranjan Das for getting through the churned-up sand. We reached the red open sands of our first play area, Where we managed some nice side slopes, a couple of criss srosses and @Lucky sAm lived up to his name when he had a near miss with a bush. Well done for handling the self recovery, listening to and following instructions perfectly. We then managed one almighty side slope before we reached the track and headed to the roundabout to cross over into the Faya area. I always say the drive is dependent on the attendees, I asked what you wanted, and you all said you wanted to fast track it to the mighty Faya dunes. Your wish is my command 😊 This is where the fun really began. That we had so much fun is entirely down to you guys! We went at some pace which is necessary for those dunes, you all followed my instructions, kept high and kept your momentum. I’m not joking when I say that seeing you all sweep those dunes perfectly in a convoy was thrilling for me. It looked majestic!! There were no other cars, just the Carnity convoy absolutely owning Faya!!! (Where’s a drone when you need it?!) Amazing driving! I was seriously impressed with you all. @Probir Mukherjee I think deflating to 10 really helped you and to see you climb that mighty dune was very pleasing for me. Well done! @Lucky sAm that’s the best I’ve seen you drive my friend, Great Job. @siddharth maheshwari @GauravSoni @Ranjan Das you all did great and handled absolutely everything I threw at you! Excellent driving. @Archibald Jurdi I couldn’t believe it when you flew up that dune, I’m delighted you’re getting the most out of that beautiful jeep. Great driving. Finally, to the guys who supported me, THANK YOU! @Goutam for the amazing 2nd lead , allowing me space to reroute and following my instructions to keep the convoy moving. @Tero Vallas, doing wonders to ensure any refusals were dealt with quickly and easily and to @Pancho @Yousef Alimadadi for keeping an eye on the back of the convoy, digging myself and others out when we needed it, as well as making sure we stayed in one convoy and that no one got left behind. Excellent work fellas! Faya ✔️ Until our next adventure!

  6. Good morning fellow adventurers!! Today's drive will see us start at the 2nd of December Cafeteria, we will stretch our desert wheels for a few mins in the nice dunes at that side of the road before crossing over and heading towards Faya. As we do so we will find lots of lovely dunes which will provide opportunities to criss-cross and side slope. There will also be some technical areas to negotiate before we reach the promised land of the mighty Faya dunes. That's the plan! Let's see how we do as we don't know what the desert Gods have in store for us today. Whatever happens, one thing is guaranteed, we're gonna have lots of fun!! 😊 We will be using Radio Channel 1 (one) My proposed convoy list is as follows: Driver Car Level Position Angela @Foxtrot Oscar Black X-terra Expert Lead @Goutam Yellow Wrangler Intermediate 2nd Lead @Probir Mukherjee White Landcruiser Fewbie 3rd @Lucky sAm Nissan Patrol Fewbie 4th @siddharth maheshwari White Wrangler Fewbie 5th @GauravSoni Grey Pajero LWB Fewbie 6th @Tero Vallas Prado Intermediate CF @Anvar Sadath Bekal White Pajero LWB Fewbie 8th @Archibald Jurdi Red Wrangler Fewbie 9th @Ranjan Das White Wrangler Fewbie 10th @Rizwan Waheed Gold Pajero LWB Fewbie 11th @Yousef Alimadadi Pajero LWB Adv Sweep

  9. Fantastic news! Well done @Ahab Shamaa It's always great to have you as part of a convoy and not just for your culinary skills you're so helpful, enthusiastic and keen to learn! Always lots of fun too. I look forward to many more drives together 🤣
  10. The Deadman is impressive, however its a lot of digging to bury the thing in the first place and I wonder if you might as well just dig under the car (if crested. That said it appears to be a handy piece of kit for sure.
  11. Ahahaha @Ahab Shamaa you are such a joy! I heard Santa only drives Japanese cars so there's no chance of him getting stuck in the desert as he makes his way to us with the vaccine. Although I spotted a couple of reindeers masquerading as gazelles yesterday. so I think the fat man in the red suit might be closer than we think O You are being too hard on yourself and it was nowhere near 10. With your PI at 18 those soft dunes were always going to be an issue. We sometimes forget about tyre pressure with the myriad of other things we are constantly checking as we drive. However, it is so important , as you discovered yesterday. Even in these cool winter months our tyre pressure creeps up. I'm delighted you still enjoyed the drive and it was a great learning experience for you.
  12. Drive Report Last weekend we tried to go from Lisali to Margham but for one reason or another we didn’t make it. This week I decided to flip it on its head and do Margham to Lisali and guess what, we still didn’t make it. But that’s no bad thing, sometimes you enter into an area that’s just so delicious you have to keep eating it up! And what a feast the sand Gods served us today. Massive credit has to be given to the convoy as the dunes in this area are quite deceiving, they look cute and playable but there’s a nasty hidden pocket or sudden ‘bump’ just waiting to trap you. The sand can get super soft too as @topgeardiscovered and needed to deflate more. Well done @topgear for dealing with all that churned up area at the back. @Malachy McGrogan you continue to amaze me by how well you control that massive truck of yours, as mentioned before we had lots of little traps and small twists and you handled it all brilliantly. It was also great to see @Jose Martin darting around in that little Pajero of his. Chapeau for your excellent driving today and I’m delighted your family got to see you do so well. As we left Margham to head to Lisali we tackled some smaller more technical dunes and kudos to the guys with the LWB Pajeros and Landcruiser @bassel el rafei @RaYan E and @Gaurav Soni who hardly put a wheel wrong the whole trip. Your driving was excellent. Well done! As we made our way out of the technical area I was supposed to go one way but ….and here’s the joy of off-road leading. I’d been in this area once before, I had studied the GPS maps, I had planned a route of sorts, but from the corner of my eye I was enticed by another area and the dunes that lay ahead. Or was is the gazelles? 😉 hee hee This is where we picked up some speed and found countless more opportunities to side slope, criss-cross and ridge ride. I think we could have driven all day long but, all good things come to an end. With the amount of bobbing , weaving, sloping and twisting we had done for 40+km one of our younger passengers decided enough was enough, or his tummy decided for him. Rather than put the young one in any further discomfort we headed to the sabka and a nice flat track to exit. Many many many thanks to the senior drivers for their wonderful support: @Ahab Shamaawho did a fantastic job as second lead, following my announcements and rerouting when needed. He also used his winch to help one member out of a tight spot. Well done @Ahab Shamaa , I love being part of your off-road journey and its great to see you progress so far in such a short space of time. Further thanks to that eejit @Craig Finlayson who despite being a complete wrong ‘un, did a tremendous job as CF, He was always on hand, giving advice and helping guide drivers when we had a couple of small refusals. You did great! Final thanks to @Brette for keeping an eye on everything at the back for me and helping to keep the convoy moving. It makes leading so much easier when you have such strength in depth. That we did 40+km with hardly any stops in this tricky little area is to the credit of all the drivers in today’s convoy. Thank you all so much, I had lots of fun! With that I shall bid you all the very merriest of Christmases and a prosperous New Year. I hope to see you all in 2021 for further adventures in the sand.
  13. Good afternoon Winter Break adventurers. Tomorrow's drive will see us gather along a track, just outside the village of Margham, where we can deflate and prepare ourselves and our cars for the morning's adventure. Margham offers some nice and sometimes tricky dunes , the intention is to play around here before we then head to Lisalli where we shall traverse some technical areas and also play amongst the long sloping dunes. We should cover around 40km, and there should be plenty of opportunity to practice some ridge riding and criss- crossing if the sands and of course the convoy allows. Here is my proposed convoy order: Angela @Foxtrot Oscar Black Xterra Lead @Ahab Shamaa White FJC 2nd Lead @Jose Martin SWB Pajero No.3 @RaYan E Pajero LWB No.4 @Craig Finlayson Grey Wrangler CF @bassel el rafei Landcruiser No.6 @Malachy McGrogan F150 No.7 @Gaurav Soni Pajeto LWB No. 8 @topgear White FJC No.9 @Brette Black Cherokee Sweep We will be using radio channel 1 (one) See you all tomorrow , arrive before 8:30am and @Craig Finlayson will deflate your tyres whilst @Ahab Shamaa serves breakfast rolls and cappuccinos.
  14. Thank you for letting me know. I hope they can resolve your car issues soon. All the very best to you and yours over the holidays and hope for a prosperous New Year
  15. Drive Report Ever had a feeling of Déjà vu? ….and so it was, another drive and another car had to exit with mechanical issues. We tried, oh boy did we try, but after 1 hour and 15 minutes of trying everything we could think of we decided to leave @DANIEL NOGUEIRA to enjoy the scenery as the rest of the convoy attempted to make up for lost time. We headed into the wonderful playable bowls and slopes of what was to be our playground for the next 2 and a half hours. It didn’t take long before we encountered our first challenge and with the convoy itching to tackle the dunes they had been looking onto for an hour and so we climbed, ,one by one, as high as the sand, our cars and our skills would allow us to. I was so pleased to see everyone handling the challenge beautifully and special mention to @Nithin Vaidir who was on his first fewbie drive and drove excellently. At the foot of the mammoth dunes are some lovely playable technical areas and that’s where we headed to next. We bobbed around, dinked about, going up and over, across the tops, sliding down, and sweeping around. We had a couple of small refusals but nothing major and it is to be expected in the soft red sands of Shuwaib. We were all having so much fun and it was apparent everyone’s confidence was growing. The allure of the towering dunes was just too much to resist and with everyone more than up for the challenge we headed back in. I wanted to make up for the lost time and pack as much as we could into the short time we had. So, we climbed one, then another, then another and another until we finally made our way back to the start point where Daniel was waiting. It was on these climbs and side slopes that @Archibald Jurdi demonstrated brilliantly and instantly the need to steer down when the car loses momentum. @Probir Mukherjee showed his skills in self recovery, @Ahab Shamaa flexed his FJC muscles with a side of panache thrown in and @Yasas Dharmadasa and @Athula Dharmadada both waved the flag for how to get the most out of Grand Cherokees. Very special thanks to @Tamas Hoffmann who again was my second lead and again didn’t let me down. Second lead is no easy task, a split-second call to reroute and knowing when to keep your distance is a special skill. @Mohamed Seidam, it was great to finally meet you and your willingness to help at all times was greatly appreciated. Of course, @Anish S as sweep was keeping an eye on everything at the back and driving brilliantly as always. I’m sure Daniel was delighted with the lift home too. I said this morning that this drive was going to be the most fun you could have on a Saturday afternoon, I wasn’t wrong. What a brilliant convoy, full of laughs and fun all the way! Well done all of you!! PS. I have now decided I will never speak of mechanical issues again. Like Shakespeare’s MacBeth, which is only known as the Scottish Play for macabre reasons, all my previous drives to date, including this one, will now be referred to as the ‘Scottish Drives’. We shall speak no more of it Until our next adventure. 😊
