Dear Desertnauts. A short briefing in preparation for tomorrow's drive. First and foremost, for the Newbies (or Absolute Newbies) joining the drive, please make sure you have a radio, fully charged, and a flag, to bring with you. Both will be necessary. The meeting and deflation point will be available on the main post. Please come punctually, so we can have ample time to deflate, and most of all to conduct a thorough briefing about desert driving principle and main skills. The convoy order at the moment will look as follows: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Luni at #3 @Mahesh_ at #4 @Esteban Ayala at #5 @Nikki1007 at #6 @Hartzel at #7 and @khurramm in Sweep. Feel free to bring family and friends along, with some refreshments to be enjoyed during one of the stops along a very pleasant route, on pristine sand. See you all tomorrow.

Dear Desertnauts. Short briefing for tomorrow's weekend opening drive. The meeting and deflation point will be posted in 10 minutes. Kindly reach it in time for a timely departure. The drive should be relatively quick, starting with a more complex technical area (mostly due to abundant vegetation), and will proceed with increasingly clean yet tight dunes, until we'll reach the Ghost Roads, around which there are some nice and clean dunes to look around. The convoy order will be: @Glenn W in Second Lead @Lukas Wii at #3 @Steffi at #4 @Yerem Davtyan at #5 @_Piotr_ at #6 and @Giacomo in Sweep. See you tomorrow for an interesting and fun beginning of the weekend.

MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities First time with Carnity Off-road Club: Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Color, and Year. Do you have any prior off-road experience? If yes, pls share details. Confirm your vehicle has front and rear tow hooks/eyelets. Advise if you don’t have a programmable radio and safety flag. MUST WATCH: NEWBIE VIDEO BRIEFING Drive Details Level: Newbie and above Meeting time: 03:30 PM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/cTqUGKvmG9eEvAey6 Action Plan: There is a secret place in Qudra that has been miraculously spared from the overgrowth of vegetation that has covered most of Dubai's deserts. Pristine sandy dunes run in long and parallel lines, allowing new off roaders to get comfortable with desert driving, and beginning to practice the essential maneuvers to venture on the sand with friends and family. If the convoy's skills will allow, we can move up the drive to learn more complex driving techniques. A thorough briefing, in the shadow of the many trees that surround this area, will precede the beginning of the drive. Overall, we plan to enjoy a relaxing afternoon and sunset in the desert, with the opportunity also to see many wild animals. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 07:30 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE: This drive is limited to 12 cars only. RSVP will close on Saturday at noon. If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist. Once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list. We'll start from the general Razeen area, to proceed westward across a succession of technical areas and vast sabkhas, until we'll arrive at Abu Dhabi's "ghost roads", that is the remnants of a never started residential development, where only the tarmac roads and the road signs rise from the dunes that have reclaimed most of this area. A "post-apocalyptic" feeling that will make the drive as adventurous as possible, while crossing different terrains, dotted with unusual types of local vegetation. Dear Desertnauts. A quick briefing for tomorrow's drive. The goal and drive plan are simple: drive as fast as possible (terrain permitting) between the star dunes along the Pink Rock to Super Bowl route, and climb as much as possible once we reach each star dune formation. We plan to stop and enjoy the sunset at Super Bowl, hoping to find it with as few people as possible. The convoy order will see @Giacomo and @Glenn W share the Second Lead.and Sweep duties, with @Hartzel and @Jeromestarting at #3 and #4, and switching positions as well throughout the drive. See you all.tomorrow for a timely start around 3 PM.

Dear Desertnauts the briefing will be (hopefully) as quick as the drive. We'll enter at Sweihan Tilal, in an area not much driven but potentially interesting: long range dunes, mixed with some technical stretches, and not too many bushes (we hope). From here we'll head in the direction of the sunset (which should guarantee better visibility and readability of the dunes and ridges) toward the Fox's Den, and all the way to Faya Truck Road. If time permits, we'll enter a very technical area, of taller and tighter dunes, that runs parallel to the E20, all the way to our exit point, sometime around the setting of the sun. The convoy order will be: @Giacomo in Second Lead @Joao Aguiar at #3 @Jerome at #4 @Jerzi at #5 @Ash S. at #6 and @Aser in Sweep. See you tomorrow at the meeting point that was posted yesterday in the drive's thread and description. Thanks

Ale Vallecchi has been promoted to Crew Level
Ale Vallecchi replied to Frederic's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Dear Carnity Community. The news of my promotion has arrived while I have been busy with moving to a new location, so I couldn't reply sooner. I have moved just 200 meters from my previous house, and I can't imagine how crazy it might have been having to go any further than this 😁. First and foremost, my thoughts go to @Gaurav, who had guided and mentored me from my very first encounter with Carnity, always being a model of kindness, patience, leadership and support throughout every interaction we ever had. He will be missed always, and each of us will carry the memory of him close to our heart. I am very grateful to @Frederic and @Srikumar for the promotion. I wasn't expecting it and am greatly honored by it. I first met a much smaller group of Carnity in 2018 as they were exiting a drive at December 2nd Cafeteria, and I was entering a UAE desert for the first time, with my new used stock FJ, and they kindly help me deflate. Sometime later I started joining them in their Qudra's drives. I recall that today's structure was just starting to be defined, and that my Fewbie promotion came as a big surprise, without having asked for it, but as the result of a common decision of the "older guys". I was hooked to Carnity's community of drivers during Covid, when it was the first, and for a long time, the only club to resume off-roading. I am sure that the leadership on this difficult but conscious decision came most of all from Gaurav. From that time, I have driven almost every weekend (and several weekdays), with a desire to always explore and find new places or things to do, which, again, Carnity allowed me to do almost freely (within the Club's guidelines). So here we are: I'd like to send my most heartfelt congratulations to my fellow new Crew members, @Asif Hussain and @M.Seidam. Couldn't deserve it more, having shown both the highest amount of leadership, and a curiosity for exploration that I surely share with them. And, truly, a huge thanks to every single Carnity member with whom I have driven before becoming a "leader", and who since joined any one of my drives. Without each of you I would not have been able to reach this goal. We share many memories and experiences that will always be valuable and precious. The desert is the only space on hearth (possibly with the oceans) that brings selflessness, brotherhood and respect to the forefront. Let's keep experiencing it toghether! See you all soon out there.- 18 replies

Dear Desertnauts Mystery solved: Badayer "inverted" is the theme of this drive. We'll drive in the Badayer/Area 53's area, inverting the direction, from the furthest entry point, to finally reach the Badayer's shops, near the "sunsetters'" spots. The drive will start from a quite high star dune near Bezhad Ranch (AKA Ericsson Tower), and will proceed north through numerous star dunes, which we'll climb with gusto, until the sun goes down. The convoy order will be the following: @Giacomo in Second Lead @Chema at #3 @Jerzi at #4 @Krinesh at Center @_Piotr_ at #6 @Warbs at #7 @Shahid Mehmood at #8 and @Andrew John Melvill in Sweep Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon. PS- Regarding the mystery posed by the chance I may not be able to return to Dubai, I did manage, even though with almost a 12-hour delay due to faulty aircraft. All is well that ends well !
