MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquettes Emergency details for all off roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 08:30 AM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XSSy4gTmDNatKZBn7 Action Plan: "The palace at Arrakeen, the single most colossal structure known in all of human history, was built during the twelve-year reign of Paul Atreides and the Muad'Dib's Jihad. Its construction was financed by spice trade." The third installment of the Planet Arrakis's series will take us all the way to the planet's capital, Arrakeen. We'll enter the sand where we left off with episode 2, at Sweihan's "Africa" farm and breeding grounds, and we'll advance west, following the sun rising high in the sky. Through a long and wide set of tall dunes, with various bowls and canyons, we'll eventually reach the capital, and its imperial palace, AKA Tilal Resort. That's where we plan to exit, and to rest and recuperate from the long drive, with a restorative lunch prepared by Arrakeen's most fabled chefs, served at Tilal Resort. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 1:00 PM, followed by lunch at Tilal Resort, for those who choose to stay. P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. 2. Dear Desertnauts "A Spice harvester (also called a “crawler”) is a large, heavy, mobile factory designed to harvest Melange. It is dropped by carrier ships (known as carryalls) onto Spice fields. These machines would then harvest and process the Spice from the sand of the desert floor. This immense farming mechanism are used solely on Arrakis, as it is the only known source of Spice before the Tleilaxu developed a substitute." Hence, in the second installment of the Planet Arrakis drives, we'll immediately go in search of the Spice Fields, which we'll encounter, with their typical circle shape, a few minute into the drive. After reaching this, as essentially our starting point. we'll double back toward our two other waypoints: Ghaf Bowl, and Nagrah Dune. We'll stop at each and refresh ourselves. The final segment of the drive will take us toward the Sheik Khalifa Houbara breeding center, the big farm fenced in to look like an angular shape of Africa. It should be another medium to long-range drive, hence we'll spend more time finding the best lines to navigate, and less looking for playgrounds, granted the fact that the terrain will provide plenty of challenges and variety. The convoy order will be, once again, designed to provide a mini tutorial, with each Fewbie Plus being "guided" by a higher rank member, and all our Support Team members evenly spread throughout the convoy, to make sure all goes well throughout the drive: @Benje_Junior in Second Lead @Giacomo at #3 @nithish468 at #4 @Cesar Chacon at #5 @Bjoern at #6 and Center Forward @Jessica Lambert at #7 @ChrisW at #8 @Nizar Shawwa at #9 @Glenn W at #10 @Senthil Kumar at #11 and Center Back @Aser at #12 @Hani crest king at #13 and @Luke K P in Sweep Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow with the goal of being ready to go at a comfortable 8:30 AM. Have a good Saturday evening.
  3. @Hani crest king, @Deepak Eswar and @Cesar Chacon, I have added you to the drive, as I have moved all Support Team members to Manage. Please confirm that you'll be OK to join. Thanks
  4. Dear @Luke K P, @Senthil Kumar and @Bjoern, I would like to move you to the Manage tab of the drive, so that @Hani crest king, @Deepak Eswar and @Cesar Chacon may join the drive as well. Should I do that? Thanks

  7. Dear @Yuri. I noticed you have been automatically added to this drive from the waiting list. Unfortunately this is a Fewbie drive while you are still ranked Newbie. I have removed you from the list. Please try to sign up for another Newbie drive, if available. Thanks for understanding
  8. Hello @Bjoern. Happy New Year. I have added you to the Manage tab, so that you are guaranteed a spot on the drive as a Support Team member, thus possibly freeing up a spot from the waiting list. Kindly confirm that it's OK for you to join the drive. Thanks

And so, we will have the sun low on the horizon as we enter the open dunes along Faya Road, to move eastward, following the way of the Freman, looking for signs of life on the white sands of our own Planet Arrakis. A long and exiting drive that will take us in search of the little water available in this area, and finally all the way to Sweihan, where we plan to exit Dunes and re-enter Earth 😅. A drive where fantasy meets reality, where the major challenge will be finding the right lines to join the marked waypoints through a variety of terrains, from open long-range cordons to tight and tall technical dunes. It will also be Benje Junior's baptism of fire, as his new Lead's credentials will get tested on this unforgiving route 😎 What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 12:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  11. Dear Desertnauts, let's get ready for tomorrow's AM drive. It will be a rather, if not exclusively, technical drive, from start to finish. The first segment, from Lisaili's second entry point to Murqab will be new to me, except for a recce drive I did there a few years back. I remember a rather technical terrain, which will eventually open up to a couple of sabkhas close to Murqab. From here the second technical segment will begin, leading us toward the Solar Tower (AKA the infamous "Chimney"). After we'll reach the Eye of Sauron we'll head north-west, to reach Solar Park, through an initially technical area, which will open up into longer ranges of dunes close to our planned exit. As with every technical drive, our driving skills and control of our cars will be challenged the most, requiring a lot of steering to navigate the crests and ridges, as well as a careful management of our engine power, with brief bursts of acceleration followed and preceded by the use of our brakes and steering. The convoy order is rather long for a technical drive (which increases its complexity), and will be the following: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Frederic118 at #3 @J-P L at #4 @Jose Luis Campos at #5 @Aser at #6 @Rob S at the Center @Guido Ferriani at #8 @Jeandre Bezuidenhout at #9 @Ben Lee at #10 @Luke K P at First Sweep and @Hani crest king as Second Sweep The order has been arranged to have a lower ranked member always follow a higher ranked driver, with the exception of the Support Team. This is in the hope of giving each Fewbie a mini tutoring session by the higher rank members. Enjoy your Saturday evening, and see you tomorrow, ready to leave as close to 8:00 am as possible.
  12. Happy New Year to you @Alex M. We'll choose at the meeting point, but probably channel 2. See you later.
  13. Dear Desertnauts A few words about tomorrow's New Year drive. It will take place in an area, in the Ghantoot district, that is both diverse, in terms of terrain, so to allow scaling the drive up and down in terms of difficulty, as well as diverse in terms of flora and fauna (palm grove, some ghaf trees, possible camels and oryx). Bring some refreshments, as we plan to take a break before sunset to enjoy the hour. The meeting point is just after a left turn off of E14 (Faqa Road), a couple of Kms. after the intersection with E75. There are a construction area and a military barracks nearby. The convoy order will be as follows: @Aser in Second Lead @Shary at #3 @Stuart G at #4 @Dipu Francis at #5 @Alex M at #6 @Andrew John Melvill at the Center position @nickJp at #8 @ArSaLaN at @9 @J-P L at @10, and @Christian Andras in Sweep. Enjoy a wonderful last day of 2024, and see you in 2025.
  14. Hi @shary. Gaurav just informed me that you have done a Masterclass with him. This is enough to qualify for the drive. Let me know if I should add you again, or you will add yourself. Thanks a lot, and slrry for the inconvenience.

  17. Dear @ArSaLaN, it should be fine. We'll be meeting at the end of the tarmac, after turning left on E14 (Faqa Road, just a couple of Kms after the junction with E75. Follow Google Map's directions to the exact meeting point. Thanks
  18. Dear @shary. I saw you signed up for the drive. As you are an Absolute Newbie (first time with Carnity) I regret to inform you that the drive is closed for Absolute Newbies. Kindly sign out of this one, and be prepared to join the next Newbie drive. Sorry to disappoint you. I hope to see you another time. Thanks and Happy 2025.
