Dear Desertnauts, let's get ready for this Sunday's afternoon drive. As this will be Part 2 of this Two for One episode, and the meeting point has been indicated as the Al Namoos cateferia, adjacent to Skydive Dubai (not the one in Marina 😁), you may reach the location as early as you wish and are welcome to join the lunch we'll have there with the Newbie convoy (planned exit at 12:00 PM). Once we'll have reached Lisaili (through a short drive on the tarmac) we will move along the camel track, to reach the entry to Lisaili proper, and we'll go from here to Faqa, mostly across very technical terrain. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Jessica Lambert in Second Lead @Marek_was003 at #3 @Julien Recan at #4 @Maytham Mahroos at #5 @Arravind at #6 @Gurcharan Mehta in the Center @Robk at #8 @Gautam Banka at #9 @frederic demolder at #10 and @Patrick van der Loo in Sweep. See you all on Sunday. Have a nice weekend.

Dear Desertnauts, in preparation for this Sunday's morning drive, here's what to expect. We plan to drive in a relatively complex terrain, made more challenging by the closeness of many of the dunes' cordons, with potential soft sand pockets, that will require careful "technical" driving, made of great control of the accelerations, respect of the convoy discipline - keeping enough distance between the cars - to allow for timely stopping, as well as to make sure that the preceding car has cleared the obstacle, and at the same time not to lose the tracks. Just the very first segment of the drive will see us moving on rather open territory, with nice large bowls and longer ridges, never too high or steep. Please reach the meeting point a few minutes before 8:00 AM, so that you may start deflating and preparing your car, to ensure a timely departure, as close to the scheduled time as possible. A detailed briefing about all the necessary skills and rules to manage the drive smoothly and safely will be given a few minutes after the start, once into the dunes. Once the drive has exited, at a nice desert cafeteria (Al Namoos), all drivers are welcome to enjoy their lunch in the desert. The convoy order will be the following: @Bhaskar in Second Lead @Nicolò at #3 (make sure you review once again all the introductory material) @Shaun J at #4 @Nizar Shawwa at #5 @Menon at #6 @bony raphi in the Center position @Abdul Hanaan at #8 @Soufiane at #9 @karim hamandi at #10 @SamBha at #11 @Abdullah N at #12 @Maytham Mahroos at #13, and @Bjoern in Sweep. See you on Sunday morning.

Dear @Raxas, thanks for signing up to the drive. Unfortunately, this is a Fewbie and above drive, while you are currently listed as Newbie. I am sorry to have to sign you out of this drive. Sorry to disappoint. I hope you'll understand. Hello @Gautam Banka. You have been added to the drive from the Waiting List. Kindly confirm. Thanks a lot.

Dear Desertnauts. A few quick facts about yesterday's drive. Waypoints reached: 7; Waypoints conquered: 6. Time to Waypoint #7's area: 2 hours 25 min. Stoppage time to Waypoint #7's area: 30 min, due to repairs of a faulty air intake on one of the cars; Moving speed to Waypoint #7: 29 Km/h; Reason for not reaching Waypoint #7: multiple stucks in soft bowl while approaching the waypoint (just before nightfall). Takeaways: 1) always have your car checked and serviced before drives in such remote and isolated areas; 2) plan such potentially long drives in the morning, to avoid the constraint of the impending nightfall. Conclusion: will reattempt on a morning drive, planning to reach all 10 Red Waypoints within max 4 hour of driving (the planned 3 hours was too tight, considering the distance between Waypoint #7 and the remaining 3 ones, while avoiding the No Go Area, is indeed enormous). Well driven @Sunil Mathew (great Second Lead) @Alex T (just remember please not to pass the car in front during a refusal or stuck), @Cristian (as above), and @Ashutosh Garg (I hope you managed to get your car fixed). Thanks to all and see you soon.

Dear Desertnauts, get ready to follow in the tracks of the DCT Champions, chasing after the most valuable "Red Waypoints" of last month's challenge. The meeting and deflation point is quite far if coming from Dubai. It'll be on the left of the Razeen Road, which you will take off of the E30. Keep in mind to refuel with a full tank at the last available gas stations, which are the ADNOC Station Razeen #128 on E30, or ADNOC Station Al Faya #891 on the E22, both in the Al Khatim area. To reach the actual meeting point along Razeen Rd. you do not have to follow the Google Maps directions all the way to the roundabout of Al Quaa Rd. but can cross the tarmac the moment you see the meeting point marked on the left of the tarmac. Consider at least 2 hours from Dubai to arrive at the starting point. Kindly arrive a little earlier then 2:30, so that we may depart as soon as possible. The drive plan will hopefully take 3 hours and a half, from entry to exit (If all goes well). We do not plan to stop for breaks (if possible), so please make sure you carry all the water and refreshments you need on board with you. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Sunil Mathew in Second Lead @Alex T at #3 @Mohit Gurnani at #4 @Cristian at #5 and @Ashutosh Garg in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Exactly @Gaurav. I was looking at our recce's track, and we drove for 3 hours (and 4 minutes), so definitely we could reach most of (if not all) the waypoints in 3 and half hours, if we plan the right track and stay away from that fenced in no-go area. Let's be optimistic and accept the challenge. 🏁

Dear @kazargamze. I just realizzati you had joined the drive. As I believe this is your first drive with Carnity, I ask you to please open and read carefully the links at the top of the drive's post page: Kindly familiarize yourself with its content, the Carnity's safety rules and driving etiquette. I will also brief you and the rest of the convoy before the start. In the meantime, can you please inform if you have a deflating tool, a radio, a flag and a compressor? Thanks a lot for your comments, and see you tomorrow.

Dear Desertnauts, welcome to tomorrow's All Skills Seminar. I have chosen the Ghantoot area (not near the well-known liquor store, but the opposite side of this district, along the E14 - Al Faqa Road), as it offers initially low rolling cordons of dunes, with large open areas in between, that will allow the convoy to familiarize themselves with the terrain and start practicing relatively easy side sloping. As the drive will progress, we will head in the direction of taller dunes, where we can practice crossing the ridges from one side to the other, as well as possibly doing some ridge riding. We should be exiting in the same place we'll enter, but there is an outside possibility that, if the convoy behaves well, we may head up toward Qudra, across an area of quite diverse terrain, to exit near the Bab al Shams Road. A complete briefing on the necessary techniques and skills will precede the drive. The meeting place is easily reachable along the E14 road, coming from both Dubai (from E75), or Abu Dhabi (taking E14 from E11). It's located next to the Seih Hafeir Camp. Once arrived, you may start deflating. The convoy order at the moment looks as follows: @Ben Williams in Second Lead @Ahmed Farouk at #3 @Renier Venter at #4 @kevin at #5 @Aser at #6 @JohanE at #7 @SamBha at #8 @Vijay Cowlagi at #9 @Robk at #10, and @Sunil Mathew in Sweep and Support. We'll pick the most appropriate Carnity radio frequency on the spot (please review the frequencies on our website, or have your radio set for manual tuning, if unsure). Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, with the prayer to arrive a little earlier, so we can start the drive as close to 8:00 AM as possible. Have a nice Friday night.
