We request every member that joins this drive to go through the below information and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquettes and responsibilities. MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities DRIVE DETAILS Level: Newbie and above (sorry, this time no Absolute Newbies) When: 29 October 2023, Sunday Meeting time: 7:30 AM - Sharp (Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/1DjtotHo1b4nqJmd9 Action Plan: "An inland town in United Arab Emirates (UAE) lives as a ghost town, a place that has long been abandoned, long forgotten! An eerie silence now surrounds the entire place, which is locally called ‘Buried Village’. It used to be a tiny hamlet once upon a time. According to the locals nearby, it was once inhabited by the people of Al Kutbi tribe (they are among the three prominent tribes living in the vicinity of Al Madam). Swallowed by sand or spooked by ‘Djinn’? What actually happened here? Why the town that once flourished is now all covered in sand? No one is pretty sure about what went there. What better way to enjoy this Halloween weekend, than driving across a rather unforgiving and challenging stretch of desert, to end the drive at this legendary haunted village? The area, with tight dunes and bushy flats, preceded by the tall and daunting big dunes of Iftar Bowl and Super Bowl, will require to have already learned the basic off-roading skills, hence no Absolute Newbies will be allowed (only for this drive). MANDATORY: bring your kids, family or friends, and most of all wear a mask, a costume, make-up, or whatever makes you feel in the mood for Halloween. No normally attired driver will be allowed🤪. The best "costumed" car will win a bounty of treats!! Approximate finish time: 11:30 AM Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Recommended off-road gears: Walkie-talkie radio and off-road flag (MANDATORY), plus tire deflator, tire pressure gauge, compressor, walkie-talkie radio, off-road flag, shovel, first-aid kit and fire extinguisher. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 12 PM. If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list. RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list. Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others. Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month. Dear Desertnauts here's the latest info for Sunday morning's drive. The meeting point will be on Faqa's sabkha, north of the town, just south of the Solar Tower. We'll enter the dunes closer to the tower than my previous drives, to face somewhat taller dunes, to continue toward Little Sweihan all along the Solar Park's fence. If we'll manage to keep our speed and minimize any issue, we should be able to proceed south of the Shooting Grounds' fence, into the Ghantoot quadrant, to end our drive. The order for this advanced convoy will be: @Mohamad Anwer in SL @Paolo Pellegrini at #3 @Rk ram at #4 @Alphin Aloor at #5 @Fabien Monleau at the Center @Bjoern in #7 @Naim Aoun at #8 @Zulfikhar Naiyar at #9 @Imteeaz at #10, and @Pacific in Sweep (with the possibility of switching position with the other Support Team members. See you on Sunday morning, rested and ready to go. Have a great beginning of the weekend.

Dear Desertnauts. It couldn't be a more streight forward drive plan. The idea (streight, and in as little time as possible) may bring to mind the rules of one of the UAE's popular off-road challenges (The Rahal): going from start to finish covering the least possible ground and in the least time. Considering it's getting closer to our very own Carnity's Desert Trophy, it will not hurt to have objectives and driving requirements and strategies in mind, to practice a little.

untilDRIVE DETAILS Level: Fewbie Plus and above When: 22 October 2023, Sunday Meeting time: 7:30 PM - Sharp (Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdiVHxTC2o31FBAW6 Action Plan: after risking an abrupt ending of my last "Rush Hour 4" in this very area, due to my engine suddenly dying, and after "resurrecting" it last minute (literally 1 hour before today's drives deadline) I would like to come back to the part of Faqa closer to the Solar Tower, to drive in a streight line (keeping within a narrow band of dunes running along the Solar Park fence), from Faqa to Little Sweihan, as fast as an arrow. Driving around in search of play areas will be minimal, as this whole sector of the Dubai desert will be our playground. If time permits we may keep on going fast and streight, all the way to Ghantoot. Approximate finish time: 11:30 AM Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. ATTENTION Desertnauts: @Gautam Banka @taz911 @Amal Sunil @Shady Ibrahim @S.Mahesh @Anas Arif @sohinik @Rafey Hashmi @Ali Al Moumar @Simon D @controlz DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING CAR (MY ENGINE KEEPS DYING WITHOUT WARNING, AND BARELY MADE IT HOME THIS EVENING), IT HAS BEEN DECIDED THAT IT WILL BE SAFER TO CANCEL THE DRIVE. I try to reach each of you to confirm that the message has been received. IAM VERY SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU, AND HOPE TO BE ABLE TO SHARE SOME TIME IN THE DESERT WITH EACH OF YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Dear Desertnauts welcome to the next Carnity Newbie (and Absolute Newbie) drive. As the drive plan initially entailed the wish to give a seminar in off-roading skills, one at the time, the fact that we have 4 Absolute Newbie in the drive is not going to bring about a change of plan, actually quite the contrary. We'll still provide a detailed briefing prior to actually entering the desert, then we'll dedicate about 1 hour each to the skills of 1) side sloping, 2) straight crossing, and eventually 3) criss-crossing. Of course, all maneuvers will be supervised, and conducted both on a terrain suitable for beginners, as well as with all safety precautions, to ensure that all drivers can manage to complete the drive. All Absolute Newbies ( @taz911, @Amal Sunil, @Shady Ibrahim and @S.Mahesh), please MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SEEN THE BRIEFING LIMKED TO THE DRIVE'S POST). The meeting point will be just off the tarmac road leading from Qudra's Last Exit to the Bab al Shams Resort: after reaching the 3rd roundabout, you will circle back toward Qudra, and exit at the first break in the guard rail, before stopping just past the bike track. The convoy order, at the moment is the following: @Gautam Banka in Second Lead @taz911 at #3 @Amal Sunil at #4 @Shady Ibrahim at #5 @S.Mahesh #6 @Anas Arif at #7 @sohinik #8 @Rafey Hashmi at #9 @Ali Al Moumar at #10, and @Simon D in Sweep. Please reach the meeting point a little bit of time ahead of 7AM, so that we may ensure a timely beginning of the drive. See you all on Saturday morning. Have a great end of the week.

Dear Desertnauts, a speedy briefing for the speedy drive in the planning. Meeting point will be posted in a few minutes, and it will be in Faqa's sabkha, reachable by taking the last turn off on the Dubai-Al Ain Rd. before Faqa Town. As mentioned, the drive's planning will take us toward Solar Park moving along the fence surrounding the southern border of the solar array around the Solar Tower (AKA The Eye of Sauron). The area is at first quite tight and with plenty of soft sand, hence we'll have to minimize any difficulty, and increase our speed as we drive through it, until we'll eventually reach the sabkhas bordering Little Sweihan (which we'll hope to cross, time permitting). The convoy order will be the following: @Alexanderrr in Second Lead @Rk ram at #3 @Ahmad Nerat at #4 @Ignacio Quindós at #5 @Krishna R at #6, and @Senthil Kumar in Sweep. The radio channel will be chosen on the spot. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, on the way back home to a nice weekend.

This drive aims at finding this passage, from going West to East, entering at Faqa, in the village, and looking for a way to reach the area of Bezhad Ranch, through a corridor just between of a conservation reserve and a tarmac road. Once arrived in Bezhad Ranch, we'll turn north toward the great Super and Iftar Bowls, and perhaps as far as Badayer. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. This time we'll take off from Faqa heading toward Solar Park, but we'll add an element of complexity to the drive, by staying as close to the Solar Tower as possible, where dunes are tighter and softer. Patrol mission accomplished: 104 Km covered in 5:31 hours, of which just over 4 hours moving. Areas patrolled: Qudra's Western quadrant, Ghantoot North of the barracks, Southern fence of the shooting polygon, Little Sweihan Souther edge and Solar Park Southern border The first hour driven in 2 wheel drive (fun but challenging) with increasingly soft sand, to the point of halting almost all progress from noon onwards. Valorous patrol team, good spirits, and most of all great patience and endurance by the entire crew. @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke - Major Vladimir 'Popski' Peniakoff - Demolition Team @Faraz94 - Captain Michael Crichton-Stuart, Combat Unit G @Johannes Roux - Major Kenneth Henry Lazarus, Rhodesian Squad @Ben Lee - Captain Edward 'Teddy' Cecil Mitford, Combat Unit W @Richard Franks - Captain Patrick Clayton, Combat Unit T @Alphin Aloor - Captain Travers John Durrant Birdwood, Combat Unit P @Bjoern - Captain Donald Gavin Steele, Support Unit R Enjoy a good rest and recuperation before the next mission.

Dear Patrols. As you have seen, tomorrow's rendezvous has been selected and shared. It is easily accessible from the Qudra's gas station, as you exit it toward the round-about, you may see it on your left. Do start deflating as soon as you reach the location. We will launch the patrol from Qudra through the western quadrant of this area, likely all the way down to Ghantoot, then across to Little Sweihan, and eventually to Faqa through sabkhas and long-range dunes. We aim to keep an average speed of 25Km/h, to complete the patrol within 4 hours. The lineup will be follows: @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke - Major Vladimir 'Popski' Peniakoff - Demolition Team @Faraz94 - Captain Michael Crichton-Stuart, Combat Unit G @Johannes Roux - Major Kenneth Henry Lazarus, Rhodesian Squad @Ben Lee - Captain Edward 'Teddy' Cecil Mitford, Combat Unit W @Richard Franks - Captain Patrick Clayton, Combat Unit T @Alphin Aloor - Captain Travers John Durrant Birdwood, Combat Unit P: @Bjoern - Captain Donald Gavin Steele, Support Unit R Do remember to wear the most appropriate combat gear, to make sure the Patrol is properly attired, and clearly distinguishable from enemy convoys. Looking forward to see you tomorrow. At ease !!!

Thanks @DP1011. What amazing research you've done!! You certainly are named the official archivist of the LRDG. Of course, in order to best describe the Group's adventures, you'll have to show up at the earliest opportunity, and be part of the next patrol. Your "nom de guerre" will be Major Guy Lenox Prendergast !! Welcome to the LRDG.
