Drive Details Level: Newbie and above Meeting time: 6:00 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: Dropped pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/wLQbrV7SzznyaZbN7 Action Plan: If Newbies were birds in a nest, eventually they'd have to throw themselves off to learn how to fly. Similarly, the goal of this drive is to "push" you off the nest, and train you to apply all the skills necessary to advance to Fewbie and above. All will be done with safety as the main concern, under the watchful and "loving" eye of yours truly. Qudra will be the place of this training camp, where we will start with basic straight crossings, move on to higher and higher side sloping, and finally, we'll study and practice different criss-crossings, and higher speed driving. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 10:00 AM

MUST READ AND TOTALLY AGREE: COVID19 Precautions Mandatory Safety Requirements Ban from Carnity Off-road Club Two Way Radio Guidelines Drive Details Level: Intermediate and above Meeting time: 3:30 PM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: 24°33'02.8"N 55°34'32.0"E https://goo.gl/maps/yJ1wqhSgQ8PKY1vs5 Action Plan: The Rush Hour saga has a sequel: "Il Sorpasso" means "to pass another car" in Italian, and is the title of a movie released in 1962, in which the protagonist drives a Lancia Aurelia Cabriolet, oblivious to traffic, cops, people and other cars, passing them with gusto...honking and making gestures 🤘... And so will we (sort of....), except off-road. From Al Ain District, more precisely Al Hayer to Faqa, to Lisaili (Inshallah). We'll drive longer than the Rush Hour series, adding an extra hour, and hopefully an extra 30 Km, to cover, if all goes well, 90 Kms in 3 hours. Departure is scheduled exactly at 3:30 PM (meeting time will be from 3:00 PM onward, so that we'll be all ready to start precisely at 3:30PM). The drive will end, wherever we'll be (with exit points planned nearby our route), at exactly 6:30 PM, or upon covering 30+30+30 Km, whichever comes first. The goal is to drive at a minimum average moving speed of 30Km/h. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 7:00 PM (including the possibility of a 30 minute extension to reach the exit) P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. 5. Dear Desertnauts Mystery solved! Based on the strength of the convoy we'll push a bit harder and a bit further, heading from Bab al Shams' Oryx feeding ground to Ghantoot's Oryx herds. Meeting point posted here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zdU11j1wZpNPtdsn7 It's the usual place where we meet for Absolute Newbie drives. From here we'll reach by dirt track the Crescent Lake, to proceed south west toward Ghantoot's outskirts. Convoy order will be as follows: @Ahmed Wagdy in Second Lead @James Lovell #3 @Wafi Ziadeh at #4 @Anoop Das #5 @Thomas Varghese at Center Forward @Stan Hassett at #7 @Nitin Mohan #8 @Murad Hamed at #9 @Farook Veettil #10, and @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler will Sweep. Please reach the meeting point a bit earlier than 3:00, so we may deflate quickly and depart ASAP. Radio communication will be on Carnity Channel #1 (446.006). See you tomorrow.
  6. Dear Desertnauts @Anoop Nair, @Thomas Varghese, @Wafi Ziadeh, @Rayas Ali, @Ali Shah, @Stan Hassett, @Ahmed Wagdy, @Nitin Mohan and @Murad Hamed in consideration of the quality of the convoy, with a lot of Fewbies and above, I would like to update the Mystery drive to a "Oryx to Oryx" drive. This will take us through an initial stint in Qudra, looking for oryx around Crescent Lake, all the way to the large (hopefully) Oryx herd that usually roams near E14 (Faqa Rd.) In the Ghantoot area. Here we'll find several date palm trees, and if time allows, this is where we'll take a break to enjoy tea or coffee. More updates to follow on Saturday. Have a nice week.
  7. Dear @georgestainton, as @Thomas Vargheseinformed you, this drive is available for Newbies and above. Hence if you have not joined your Absolute Newbie drive you should do so. The only other possibility is if you have taken a Carnity Masterclass with one of our Marshals. If not, I'll have to drop you from this drive. Thanks for confirming the above, and for your understanding.

Drive Details Level: Newbie and above Meeting time: 3:00 PM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: Dropped pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/zdU11j1wZpNPtdsn7 Action Plan: We will surely start within Dubai, and will surely not enter AD. We'll meet all terrains: some technical dunes and sabkhas, a few long range dunes and sand bowls. We'll snake around low bushes, drive past tall Ghaf trees, or draw lines on pristine slopes. We'll plan a warm up phase, to reach our main area of interest, and we'll extend the drive in the direction we'll find more interesting, until the sun goes down. We may loop back to our original starting point....or not. We'll escalate the drive to a higher level, based on the quality of the convoy, as it will become apparent during the warm up phase. The number of cars in the convoy has been reduced to 10, to ensure the possibility of pushing the convoy a bit. We'll also enjoy a major break during the drive, for which you may want to bring your favorite brand of tea or coffee, and most of all, you should bring your good spirit. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 7:00 PM

  10. Dear Desrtnauts, after a few unfortunate drop-outs, the new convoy order will be: @Thomas Varghese Second Lead @Fabien Monleau will be #3 @Sunil Mathew at #4 @Pacific at #5 @Christian Andras in Sweep. Given the size of the convoy, we can plan to switch some positions throughout the drive, to give as many members as possible the opportunity to interact with different tasks. I will also alter the route slightly, in the attempt to cover more ground, with a short and motivated convoy. See you later.
  11. Dear Desertnauts couldn't ask for a better pack of drivers to orbit Solar Park. We'll proceed from the vicinity of the "glass pyramid" through the Middle Earth, across Little Sweihan, via a couple of sabkhas and along Faqa Plateau, then northward on D66, and finally back west through Lisaili. The most challenging aspects of the drive will be the initial heat and soft sand, and the crossing of the slip-faces along D66 (Desert 66, running along E66), before reaching the final stretch at Lisaili. Please reach as punctually as possible to start around 3:00PM, as the whole track should need at least 4 hours to cover 🍀. We'll choose the radio channel on the spot, while the convoy will line up as follows: @Thomas Varghese will resume his Second Lead position of many drives ago @Fabien Monleau will be #3 @Sunil Mathew at #4 @Vaibhav will be #5 @Pacific at #6 (after a few Sweeps, back at the core of the pack) @Gilbert Khalil at #7 @Anoop Nair at #8, and @Christian Andras free to Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon. Enjoy the evening.

Drive Details Level: Intermediate and above Meeting time: 3:00 PM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: Dropped pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/w6XttG2bUWsvavZb8 Action Plan: The Revolutions around Solar Park reappear on our drives' menu, bringing the additional challenges of an afternoon drive, and a counter clockwise direction, compared to the previous 2 editions (both AM and clockwise drives). This means that departure will be at a much warmer hour then previously, with softer sand conditions, and that we will move, at times, across the dunes' slip-faces. We'll also have to run against the clock of the setting sun, which we hope to see going down in front of us, as we reach the planned exit, at the Three Trees area. Considering the Intermediate level, we are planning a smooth, rythmic drive, with a meditative feel (as some have said of my long-range drives). Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 7:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  14. Dear Desertnauts let's get ready to transition from a long weekend to a regular weekend. What better way than to follow the sun, toward its setting below the golden dunes? Meeting point we'll be just before the practice camel track at Lisaili. Refueling will be possible at a couple of gas stations along E66, prior to reaching the exit. Please deflate considering the heat at that time of day, and that the first patch of sand, after driving along the pylon track, will be technical and soft. We'll cross Lisaili's western side, to reach the outskirts of Solar Park, before entering Qudra's southern segment, and continuing west, toward the sinking sun. The convoy will line up as follows: @varunmehndiratta as Second Lead @Farook Veettil at #3 @Paolo Pellegrini at #4 @Ashutosh Garg #5 @Senthil Kumar at #6 @RiaanJH #7 @Shaker at #8 @Muhammad Qasim at #9, and @Pacific in Sweep. We'll be using Carnity Channel #2. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow, ready to start the drive as close to 3:00PM as possible. Have a great evening.
  15. Rush Hour 4: The Commute - Drive's Report "What matters is how quickly you do what your soul directs" - Rumi It was all very quick, following each moment's instinct, directed by the soul (that's what we bring to the desert to be reborn), as well as (or even more so) by the shades of light on the sand, the blur of a bush rushing by, the line of a ridge, the sound of the sand under the tires, or the color of the sky fading in front of us. Having recounted the soul of our drive, and being impossible to follow in @munkybizness' literary footsteps, I'll limit the report to the sheer numbers, which so eloquently speak for the off-roading feat of every member. As we had decided to divide the drive into 1 hour segments, with the goal of covering at least 30 km each hour, this is what we achieved: 1st hour - 34 Km driven, at 35 Km/h average moving speed, and 34 km/h total moving speed, with only 2 minutes of stop, to assist a self-recovery; 2nd hour - 27 Km driven, for a total of 60+ km altogether, moving at an average of 33 km/h , and a total of 30km/h over the 2 hours, with 10 minutes of stop, to assist a refusal and perform a quick tug. This second segment was also much more complex and diverse, due to a couple of tight technical areas with soft sand: it was here, during the previous edition of Rush Hour 3, that all the advantage gained during the first hour was lost, due to multiple stucks. 3rd and 4th hours - 48.3 Km driven, from Ghantoot back to Qudra's Last Exit, in 1 hour and 33 minutes, moving at 31 Km/h average speed (30 km/h total), with only 2 minutes of stop (the infamous yanking tug received by @Prakash Anoop). The commute back to Qudra was deliberately shorter and more "leisurely", as we went looking for oryx (unsuccessfully), and took a straighter route back, to reach the exit point rigorously on time for the next weekend's Carnity sign-ups. Thanks to @Zixuan Huang - Charlie for his Second Lead in the first 2 hours, to @Alexanderrr for his debut at Second Lead in the second segment, to @varunmehndiratta for his Sweep to Ghantoot, and to @munkybizness for his Sweep back to Qudra, and of course hats of for a very smooth and concentrated driving to @Vaibhav, @Prakash Anoop, @Anoop Nair, @Rob S, @Daniel Rodas, @Ashok chaturvedi (will bring you forward next time so you can enjoy the wild life 😉), and @topgear. Great convoy for a very fun drive. See you all soon in the sand.

  19. Dear Desertnauts as the time to confirm the revised format has expired, based on the confirmations received, I have decided the following updates to the drive's format: there will be only 1 convoy, for a total of 13 cars meeting time will be 2:30PM, to depart no later (100%) by 3:00PM the meeting point will be Qudra's Last Exit, at the waiting area just past the ADNOC's gas station exit the drive plan will have a first segment of 2 hours or 60 Km driven (whichever comes first), in the direction of Ghantoot, after which the second segment, of another 2 hours or another 60 Km driven, will be taking the convoy back to Qudra from Ghantoot (for this part I have planned a slightly different track than previous ones). exit is planned at 7PM (with 15 minutes to spare before it gets dark). The convoy order will be the following: @Zixuan Huang - Charlie in Second Lead @Alexanderrr at #3 @Vaibhav #4 @Prakash Anoop at #5 @Anoop Nair #6 @Rob S #7 @Ranjan Das at #8 @Daniel Rodas at #9 @Ashok chaturvedi #10 @topgear at #11 @munkybizness #12, and @varunmehndiratta in Sweep Please deflate considering the heat of the first couple of hours of the afternoon. We'll communicate through Carnity Channel #3 (446.056). Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon. Have a nice evening.
  20. Hi @Vaibhav. Just checking if it would be OK for you to be accommodated in Convoy 2, the one meeting at 4:30 pm in Ghantoot, and driving to Qudra. Thanks
