Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 3.00 PM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jr9GSFcWRZCraizJ6 Action Plan: Faqa and Badayer are two of Dubai's main off-roading spots. They are separated by an area dominated by a nature reserve, which makes it difficult, or at least very unusual, to want to join these two areas in one single drive. We'll be looking for the passage from Faqa to the southern-most sector of Badayer, also known as Area 53, or Al Madam. Once through this corridor, we'll head up to Super and Iftar Bowl, with the goal of exiting at Badayer shops. This route should open up future possibilities for long 1-day tracks, from Pink Rock all the way to Faqa and beyond, or vice versa. Bring your explorers' mood. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 6:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  3. All waypoints collected and posted (in yellow). Below the intermediate waypoints, set to mark the approach to Nagra, with 2 options available to avoid and pass a large farm cutting across our planned route. Yalla!!
  4. Dear Desertnauts, while waiting for the last waypoint, here's the convoy's order: @Salim Akhtar in Second Lead @Tareq Al Turq at #3 @Jona at #4 @Beide Worku at #5 and @Imteeaz in Sweep. The drive is straightforward in principle. Given the planned waypoints, so far, we'll drive as quickly as possible the rather long distance between the entry and the first marked point. From there, we'll snake around to reach and circle the other ones. Looking around for other potentially interesting places to see. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning.
  5. Good morning. Only @Beide Worku has not yet chosen a waypoint. I will prepare a driving plan and convoy order as soon as it'll become available. Will post later this morning. Thanks
  6. Good morning to @Beide Worku and @Tareq Al Turq. A gentle reminder that today would be deadline to select your waypoint of choice. Please let me know if you need more time. Thanks
  7. Hi @Salim Akhtar. The third waypoint has been added. The drive is taking it's shape. Three more to go.
  8. Hi Dear @Jona, @Beide Worku, @Tareq Al Turq, @Salim Akhtar allow me to leave here a couple of tips on the selection of your waypoints. Try to spread them around,.as at this point Nagra dune is well covered. Look for other dune formations, group of trees, technical areas, or anything else that tickles your imagination. i will add a waypoint of my own by this Friday, which is the deadline to choose the waypoints. Enjoy!!
  9. Thanks @Ranjan Das. Second waypoint added, at the back of Nagra, separated from the first by a nice "valley" with trees, and a set of tall dunes.
  10. Dear @Jona, @Beide Worku, @Imteeaz, @Tareq Al Turq, @Ranjan Das and @Salim Akhtar, welcome to the drive. As announced on the post, please start looking at the area we'll visit, from Nahil across Nagra and beyond, to select the waypoint of your choice. You may refer to the screenshot of Google Maps that I have posted, searching within the area that I have highlighted in red. Begin exploring from the planned meeting point and study the area through any mapping application you are used to utilizing; I personally use My Trails, but most I am aware work with Gaia. Once you have found a point of interest that you wish to reach, please take the waypoint, and post it in this thread. I'll collect the chosen marks by Friday morning, so I may look at them together, and devise a suitable drive's plan. We'll share together, before setting off for the drive, my reasoning for the route that we'll plan to take. Thanks a lot, and keep me posted.

DRIVE DETAILS Level: Intermediate and above When: 12 Nov 2023, Sunday Meeting time: 7:00 AM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tHc2kYpqkEpjsdXG6 Action Plan: the drive will be built as a "compilation" of waypoints, one chosen by each driver, which the lead will try to connect with the smoothest, most effective, and fastest route possible. You will be provided with a picture of the map of the general area that we plan to visit, and our starting point (see above). After studying it on any mapping application at your disposal (Gaia, My Trails or even Google Maps), you should submit your chosen waypoint (a special dune, a sabkha, a farm, a group of trees), that you'd like to explore. The selected waypoints will be posted on Friday, and the plan will unravel from there, connecting the dots. Approximate finish time: 11:30 AM Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

  13. Dear Desertnauts here's the info for tomorrow's morning drive. TIME: Yes, it's 7:30 AM (that's not a mistake). I like later starts, as I've realized the difference in temperature is actually minimum compared to a 6:00 am start, but the mood of the drivers (at least mine) is surely better 😁 MEETING PLACE: See the updated drive's post for Google Maps directions. It's located off of E44, in the village of Rafadah, just between Badayer's Quad rentals area, and the town of Al Madam (which you do not have to reach). I'll try to reach plenty ahead of time, so you will see me waiting at the deflating and starting point along the village's track. DRIVING PLAN: We'll enter just behind the big dune of Iftar Bowl, we'll head north toward Badayer, circling the big dune and aiming for a couple of tall sand pyramids just beyond, driving along their slopes, before looping back, passing Iftar Bowl again, and Super Bowl, and finally heading through tighter technical dunes toward our exit at Ghost Town. We should take anywhere between 3 and 4 hours. CONVOY ORDER: @Ishak in Second Lead @Lea Degner at #3 @SUMEDH KRISHNA WAGHMARE at #4 @Soufiane at #5 @Mahesh_ at #6 @Arravind #7 @JERINE_B at Center @Martin M at #9 @Usman Basit at #10 @frederic demolder at #11 @Anas Arif #12 and @Theo09 in Sweep REQUIRED ATTIRE: Please wear a mask, a costume, a face painting, car decorations, or anything else that will show you are in the proper Halloween mood 🥸. Kids and families are welcomed. Keep in mind that we'll exit at Ghost Town, where we'll walk into the ghost village to take a photo of the group, before visiting the houses disappearing beneath the dunes. The best "attired" member/car will receive a pumpkin full of treats. The tricks will be those we'll have to adopt while driving to Ghost Town. Enjoy your Saturday and see you tomorrow.
  14. Dear @Lea Degner. Thanks for your feedback. Let me ask Gaurav if he feels that you are ready to join the drive (in consideration of the type of terrain), and if he agrees I'll sign you in again. Just give me a little time. Thanks for your patience. Dear @Lea Degner. Gaurav has given me his go-ahead. He has praised your skills. One question: Gaurav mentioned an issue with the Pajero rear lip (which act as a scooper). Have you fixed it (ex. closed the scooper with metal plate)? If so, there should be no problems. Kindly update. In the meantime I will add you back to the drive. Thanks a lot
  15. Dear @Soufiane, on the basis of @Frederic's information and advise, feel free to join the drive. You will be briefed, along with the whole convoy, in details and to a great extent before starting the drive, so you'll have fresh info at your disposal to manage the terrain. See you on Sunday (I will add you to the drive).
  16. Hello @Lea Degner. I hope all is well. Did you have the chance to see my post above? Looking forward to hearing from you.
  17. Hello @Soufiane. Thanks for asking. Having done your AN drive you are already a Newbie ranked member. The only thing I'd like you to consider in evaluating your joining this drive is if you also had any previous driveing experience, that is if you feel comfortable enough facing relatively tough terrains: possible higher climbs, soft sand bowls and tight, close technical dunes. Thanks for considering.
  18. Dear @Lea Degner. Thanks a lot for joining the drive. As @DP1011 mentioned, this particular Newbie drive is not open to Absolute Newbies. This is a category we have created at Carnity to identify any driver who is having her/his first drive with the Club. In the case of an AN joining we would take great care to go through a thorough briefing of what we recommend and expect drivers to do and behave when joining one of our convoys. A drive including AN members, will be designed to visit areas that do not present excessively complex challenges, on terrains that can be more easily tackled by all drivers. The reason why this drive is only open to members who have already had such first Absolute Newbie experience is that the terrain where we plan to go is very challenging, and we do not wish to face situations that may create safety issues to a very inexperienced driver. If you have had prior off-road driving experiences with other Clubs, I kindly ask you to please update me here, specifying the club or circumstances of your previous drives, the number of drives you have already had (off-roading on sand, not mixed terrain), and the car you had been driving with. Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a nice day.

DRIVE DETAILS Level: Newbie and above (sorry, this time no Absolute Newbies) When: 29 October 2023, Sunday Meeting time: 7:30 AM - Sharp (Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/1DjtotHo1b4nqJmd9 Action Plan: "An inland town in United Arab Emirates (UAE) lives as a ghost town, a place that has long been abandoned, long forgotten! An eerie silence now surrounds the entire place, which is locally called ‘Buried Village’. It used to be a tiny hamlet once upon a time. According to the locals nearby, it was once inhabited by the people of Al Kutbi tribe (they are among the three prominent tribes living in the vicinity of Al Madam). Swallowed by sand or spooked by ‘Djinn’? What actually happened here? Why the town that once flourished is now all covered in sand? No one is pretty sure about what went there. What better way to enjoy this Halloween weekend, than driving across a rather unforgiving and challenging stretch of desert, to end the drive at this legendary haunted village? The area, with tight dunes and bushy flats, preceded by the tall and daunting big dunes of Iftar Bowl and Super Bowl, will require to have already learned the basic off-roading skills, hence no Absolute Newbies will be allowed (only for this drive). MANDATORY: bring your kids, family or friends, and most of all wear a mask, a costume, make-up, or whatever makes you feel in the mood for Halloween. No normally attired driver will be allowed🤪. The best "costumed" car will win a bounty of treats!!
