Even though well-known and often travelled, the long cordons running east from Faya Truck Road remain mostly clean and very much enjoyable. We'll run along and across them from our entry to a beautiful area -rock formation known as the "fox's den", where a family of foxes indeed leaves and hunts. From there we may loop south and back to Faya Truck Road, or further east, toward the Sweihan's Pond, and a nearby exit. Most of the drive will be focuses on enjoying the long-range dunes and driving at a relatively fast pace across them. Dear Desertnauts. Here is the briefing for tomorrow's extended drive. The drive plan - Starting at the back of Qudra's ADNOC gas station (where you may fill up the tank), to enter Qudra through its north-western segment. From here the goal is to drive in what used to be Dubai's off-roaders' playground, made of a field of long-range dunes, of medium to low height, but ideal for ridge riding and faster pace drives. I am expecting to find it much changed, and quite grassy (or worst, bushy), so that we'll aim to veer eastward, to reach a crossing point between the "old" Qudra and the more pristine Qudra's "Secret Dunes", past the Qudra Lakes' area. Here I hope to be able to spend at least 1 hour to enjoy the clean dunes and the sunset hour. The extended convoy - As mentioned, thanks to @Simon D's joining the convoy, we'll split the 23-car convoy in two halves, each led by myself and Simon. While in the "Old Qudra"'s segment we'll try to keep the convoy together, perhaps separated only by a short distance, once entered the "Qudra's Secret Dunes" we'll be able to have each half of the convoy find its way through the sand, to finish the drive either on the tarmac road to Lisaili, or by Flamingo Lake. The double convoy order - Each half of the convoy will be led and supported by higher ranked members, to make sure that the Second Lead and Sweep roles are covered by more experienced drivers. The order will be the following: CONVOY 1 - Ale's Lead (12 cars) @Danie in Second Lead @Taka at #3 @Hansmtb at #4 @Shamoon at #5 @Suhail Ismail at #6 @Rawad Ahmad at #7 @topgear at Center @Noufal at #9 @Sheho at #10 @UvinOverland at #11 and @Bravoecho in Sweep CONVOY 2 - Simon's Lead (11 cars) @Zahid Sharif in Second Lead @Vishal_J_C at #3 @CY Bong at #4 @Flying Horses at #5 @Ana at Center @Infaz at #7 @Amal Sunil at #8 @Vivian Dsouza at #9 @Yerem Davtyan at #10 and @JC_E in Sweep Lastly, the meeting point - take the exit from Qudra Last Exit's ADNOC station, and look for the track heading left: there is an open space facing a couple of restaurants, where you can park and start deflating, or head along (but not too far) the left-heading track (stay close to the restaurants as well).l WARNING - Make sure you have a flag, and a fully charged hand-held radio: flagless cars will be sent back for safety reasons, and we surely will not have enough spare radios for members missing it. No radio and/or no flag, NO drive. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Have a nice Saturday evening.

untilDrive Details Level: Newbie and above (NO ABSOLUTE NEWBIES) Meeting time: 2:30 PM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/iqTBtk5p26vkaZYr5 Action Plan: Dubai's off-roading "old timers", and Carnity's in particular, will remember a time (just 4 or 5 years ago), when Qudra was a pristine sandy background for our escapades on beautiful, long range dunes, not nearly as high as Abu Dhabi's, but nonetheless extremely enticing for the possibility they offered for high speed drives, with lots or ridge-riding and criss-crossing. Nowadays, it seems that the frequent rains have lifted up the water table and fed much-needed nourishment to all kinds of grass and plants. After a few years of trying to avoid this desert that turned into a prairie, I'd like to go back down memory lane and trace back the club's old footsteps in the western and southern sectors of Qudra, from the Bab-al-Shams Road entry toward Solar Park. From here, we'll cross into Qudra's "secret dunes," where we are sure to find clean long-range dunes, to finish our drive in a way most reminiscent of our old days in Qudra. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 06:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

Dear Desertnauts. We are looking for a quick and fast drive through two great technical areas, and as may interesting sabkhas, to reach the exit point at the "Ghost Roads". The entry point has been chosen just outside the first technical area, which we may cross fully to reach the first sabkha, or only partially, before taking a sand track along a fence. The convoy order (alternating higher with lower ranked members) is the following: @lucas amat in Second Lead @Warbs at #3 @frederic demolder at #4 @Thomas54675 at #5 and @Mei Ling in Sweep. See you tomorrow afternoon at the meeting point.

After crossing a wet sabkha (speed will be of the essence), we'll cross a small "plateau" of technical dunes, to reach another sabkha. Here we'll find a scene worthy of Apocalypse Now: an abandoned shooting ground, where drones used to test their functionality on tens of old containers, now scattered across the sabkha like broken toys. From here, after crossing another "plateau" of technical duns, with quite a unique vegetation of small trees, we'll reach the area known for the Ghost Roads: an urban grid of tarmac roads and cross-roads, partially buried by moving dunes, creating another post-apocalyptic landscape, which we'll admire during the sunset. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 06:00 PM P.S. Dear Desertnauts. A quick briefing for tomorrow's Sunday drive. Besides the meeting point, now available on the drive's post and detailed page (one of the usual 2 meeting points along Faya Truck Road), the drive's plan may be varied halfway through. In fact, based on how well we drive in the first segment (including most of the "classic" Faya area (including the Fox Den), once we turn South to Al Khatim, we may actually divert the drive toward the Tilal Resort area. In fact, there is a very inviting stretch of pristine long-range dunes that we may choose to visit, east of The Desert Rose Safari Camp: if we choose this route we'll exit somewhere between the village of Al Khowrah, and the Sweihan-Al Ain Rd. The convoy order will be the following: @Abhishek Chikara in Second Lead @Amr J at #3 @Soap at #4 @B.K. at #5 @Sunstreaker at #6 @Aser at Center @Zsolt at #8 @Krinesh at #9 @Diego at #10 @Hani crest king at #11 and @ChrisW in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning, with a full tank, as if all goes well we will surely extend the drive beyond the original plan. Have e pleasant Saturday evening.

We'll find clean, long-range dunes at the beginning and at the end of the drive, while crossing more bushy areas in between. Dear Desertnauts, A quick briefing before tomorrow' Boot Camp. You will find the meeting and deflation point just posted on the drive's thread. Please try to reach it at least 15/20 minutes in advance of the posted meeting time, so that you may start to deflate in preparation for the drive, so that we may leave as close to the posted time as possible. Please deflate to around 13 PSI, or accordingly to your experience with your tires, from past drives. We'll provide a detailed briefing about all the maneuvers and skills that we'll practice shortly after our departure. If all goes well, we'll try to exit closer to Nahil, hoping to have gained enough self-assuredness and control to tackle the more complex terrain of the Nahil area. It will be fundamental that everyone brings a radio, to be able to receive all necessary instructions, and communicate successfully. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Sviatoslav in Second Lead @S Mehta at #3 @Raptor Runner - Dhawan P at #4 @Eddie-Raptor at #5 @Albert_Spa at #6 @Mostafa Elbadawi at #7 @Emily Donovan at #8 @Lazy Frog at #9 @SHIHAN BEARY at #10 @UvinOverland at #11 @Amal Sunil at #12 and @Aser in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning.

Dear @S Mehta, thanks a lot for signing up for the drive. As you may have seen this is a drive for Newbies and above, with no Absolute Newbies. As you are listed with 0 Carnity drives, you would qualify as an Absolute Newbie. Have you had, by any chance, a Masterclass with Carnity? This is the only other condition to be able to join this drive as an Absolute Newbie. If you have never driven in the desert and/or with Carnity, I'll have to sign you out, and ask you to join an open drive (including Absolute Newbies), first. Looking forward to yor update. Thanks a lot.
