Dear Desertnauts. As mentioned yesterday, I have concluded that it would make for a more interesting drive to surprise you with a new meeting point and a revised drive plan. We'll meet along E14, a bit closer to Faqa's side, to explore the south-eastern reaches of the Dubai emirate, and aim to end our drive at Little Sweihan (Dubai side) or perhaps at Ghantoot (AD side). I haven't driven in this area for a while, and would like to see if it has changed, or has maintained its characteristics, with long dunes, rolling cordons, some technical areas and frequent encounters with Ghaf trees and camel trains. Be ready for a medium/long drive. The new meeting and departing point is: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bvmW2trEghw9ikHx5 Looking forward to seeing @Luke K P @Carl Stanley @Myrko @Amr J @B.K. @Andrew John Melvill @vinayak @Johannes Roux @Yurybel @Aser tomorrow. Have a nice Saturday evening.

Dear Desertnauts in preparation for the drive, in order to avoid bad surprises, as we had the first time we attempted to complete this itinerary, I have scouted the trickier area, that is along the Abu Dhabi/Dubai border. Unfortunately, on the Abu Dhabi side there is not even one opening in an endless concrete wall, running all along the E14 Al Faqa Road. Given this unfortunate constraint, I have decided to turn this one into a surprise drive! By tomorrow afternoon, I will decide if we'll keep the planned starting point, and plan the drive in the Al Ajban area all the way to Sweihan town, or if we'll change the starting point to the Faqa area, opposite E14. In the latter case, we'll explore the dunes that run along the E14 itself, and reach Little Sweihan through their cordons, which during the recce I have found quite interesting, relatively clean, but with quite a few groups of beautiful Ghaf trees, and quite a lot of camels roaming. KINDLY STAY TUNED, AND CHECK THE MEETING/STARTING POINT, TO SEE WHICH ONE IT WILL FINALLY BE. In the meantime, the convoy order will be the following: @Luke K P in Second Lead @Carl Stanley at #3 @Myrko at #4 @Amr J at #5 @B.K. at #6 @Andrew John Melvill at Center @vinayak at #8 @Martin M at #9 @Johannes Roux at #10 @Yurybel at #11 and @Aser i Sweep. Please, do not forget to double check the meeting point tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime, enjoy the beginning of the weekend.

untilDrive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 08:00 AM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bvmW2trEghw9ikHx5 - NEW!! Action Plan: While the Al Ajban area is starting to be better known to Carnity members, following 3 drives recently completed in its dunes, this time we'll try to connect successfully its pristine dunes to Little Sweihan, across the border into Dubai. The first time we tried the convoy had to turn around in front of a closed entry into a newly fenced in area. This attempt will see the convoy cross into Dubai from a different direction, which I hope will allow us to enter the triangular shaped set of cordons that constitute the beautiful area so called Little Sweihan. This is a wind-swept location, with plenty of tall dunes, of white/gold sand, in places close to each other, otherwise opening up in long and undulating sand canyons. Two quite diverse segments, separated by a no-man's land that we'll try do cross successfully, this time What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 12:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

Dear Desertnauts, getting ready for Sunday's PM drive, please try to reach the meeting point several minutes before 3:00 PM, so that we may give a more detailed briefing to our 2 Absolut Newbies (and the rest of the Newbie crew) and still manage to depart timely. We plan to cruise the first segment across relatively clean and ample cordons, before reaching a bushy stretch of sand toward the middle of Lisaili's area, and cutting across a large sabkha, leading to Qudra's "secret dunes". Here we'll enjoy the miraculously clean dunes snaking from left to right, and from east to west, until we'll conclude the drive next to the Qudra Lakes. If time permits, the members who still want to relax in the balmy Sunday evening will be led to the Lisaili Fort Hidden Cafe, to enjoy the dusk, and sip on juices, and other drinks. The convoy will line up as follows: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead, @Nikki1007 at #3 @Sebastien at #4 @Warbs at #5 @Myrko at #6 @Kirill K at #7 @Juzer Talib at #8 @Alex M at #9 and @Yurybel in Sweep. See you all on Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the end of the week and your Saturday rest.

Dear @Nikki1007, dear @Sebastien, thanks for joining the drive. As I see that you are Absolute Newbies with Carnity, I'd like to ask about your experience, if any, with desert off-roading. Keep in mind that this drive is posted as a No Absoulte Newbie drive. I am still inclined to confirm your participation, based on your self declared previous experience. I will confirm after seeing your reply. In any case, before the drive, you should read carefully the links to the briefings listed on the drive's post. Also, your cars must be equipped with recovery tow points both in the front and the back. Without these you will not be admitted to the drive. Finally, you will need to be equipped with a 2-way portable radio transmitter (there are discussing threads on Carnity's Web site) necessary to receive instructions and communicat with the convoy during the drive. Thanks a lot for your inputs. Looking forward to hearing from you.

untilDrive Details Level: Newbie and above (all levels) - NO Absolute Newbies Meeting time: 03:00 pm (departure time) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MR8j8TtNwyhKbRLe9 Action Plan: A repeat edition of the leisurely drive from LISAILI TO QUDRA'S SECRET DUNES, looking, one more time, to sight free-ranging camels in the first segment of the track, then searching for roaming gazelles in the second segment, around the Qudra Lakes. As we managed successfully in the previous edition of this drive, we'll look to flow through the cordons, as easily as possible, save for some tricky spots toward the middle of the drive, where we'll find more vegetation. At the end of the drive, if there will still be light, those who wish'll be able to reach the Lisaili Fort Hidden Cafe, where we can unwind and relax during and after the sunset. Different from last time, when the Eid holidays must have generated an overbooking, we should be able to find some seats to enjoy some refreshments and the balmy air of the early evening. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 06:30 PM (at sunset)

Dear Desertnauts not much more to say about tomorrow's drive besides the posted drive's Action Plan. A straight run from Lisaili, through an area of camel farms, where relatively clean dunes will eventually make room for more bushy vegetation, until we'll reach a sabkha that will take us to the almost virgin Qudra's Secret Dunes, and possibly to see many groups of roaming gazelles. The convoy order will be as follows (with higher ranked members mixed with Newbies, throughout the convoy): @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Kirill K at #3 @J-P L at #4 @Humi at #5 @JC_E at #6 @Glenn W at #7 @Suneedh Wrangler at #8 @Mads at #9 @Giacomo at #10 @Premjit Vappala at #11 @Tanveer Ahmed at #12 and @topgear in Sweep. See you tomorrow, ready to go at 3PM. Have a nice evening
