  1. @Hugo do you confirm you will join the drive from the waiting list? Otherwise the next in line would be @J-P L. Thanks for confirming.
  2. Dear Desertnauts in preparations for tomorrow's, Friday, drive, I hope you don't mind reversing the itinerary, from Badayer Shops to Bezhad Ranch (in al Manam). This gives us the opportunity to avoid the rush of sun setters at Badayer, which usually becomes unmanageable after 4PM. So, please pay attention to the published meeting place, where we'll meet and deflate, before driving south-west toward Bezhad Ranch. We'll still follow the sun's arc in the sky, keeping it more or less to our right, as we move across the area's star dunes, to Iftar and Super Bowl, and eventually to the last major dune before exiting near the E55 Road (al Madam to Al Shuwaib). The convoy order will be the following: @Glenn W in Second Lead @Shary at #3 @Mads at #4 @Jose Luis Campos at #5 @Frederic118 at #6 @Emanuel at Center @Nicolò at #8 @vinayak n at #9 @Sam Selim at #10 @Yuri at #11 @Hani crest king at #12 @Mike M. in Sweep See you all tomorrow as close to 2PM as possible.
  3. Dear @Glenn W, as I am looking to have an experienced Second Lead, considering that I'll use Emanuel at the Center, and Hani or Mike in Sweep (the more experienced drivers), would you like to be added to the drive as SL? Thanks for confirming

Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 02:00 PM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/R219AZwP2hSyLRPy5 Action Plan: We are looking to enjoy a bright and sunny afternoon, driving along the "string" of star dunes parallel to E44 road (Al Madam to Lahbab, until the sun sets). What is still not certain is the direction of the drive, that is if we'll start at Badayer and finish at Bezhad Ranch, or vice versa. The decision will be made on Thursday evening. In any case, the drive will entail an almost straight track, and infinite climbs and descents, on the many star dunes along the route. Between the star dunes, we'll cross much more technical areas, where patience and finesse-driving will take the place of adrenaline and speed-driving. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 06:30 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  6. Dear Desertnauts. Tomorrow's drive will be partially a "premiere" and partly a recce drive. We'll start in Al Ajban proper, with the first full convoy to come this way after the original exploration drive of a few weeks ago. Then, we'll aim to reach Little Sweihan, into Dubai's emirate, through the farm enclosures and across E14 (Faqa Rd), moving in a north-easterly direction. The goal is to actually find a way across the emirates' boundaries, or else we'll have to trace our way back to the starting point. Patience and grit will be essential. The convoy, a great mix of different levels' members, is designed to allow 1 on 1 tutoring, with each lower ranked driver following the lines of a higher ranked one: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Steffi at #3 @Glenn W at #4 @B.K. at #5 @topgear at #6 @Amr J at #7 @Aser at Center @JC_E at #9 @Alexanderrr at #10 @Shary at #11 @Mike M. at #12 and @Luke K P in Sweep. See you tomorrow ready to start at 8:00AM. Have a great Saturdya evening.
  7. Hello @Aser. I am going to move you to the Manage column, to free up a spot in the convoy. @Luke K P if OK I will also move you to the Manage tab, so we may reduce the waiting list. Thanks for confirming

Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 8:00 AM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XzSy1dWi4gemPBCi9 Action Plan: The Al Ajban area has been partially explored, in the direction of Sweihan. What remains to be seen, and what we will be looking for, is a passage through the local farms, toward the border with Dubai (in a north-eastern direction), that would allow us to reach the Little Sweihan area, and to exit at Solar Park. We'll drive the long golden dunes Al Ajban proper, until we reach the limit of the big farms, before looking for the gap that will take us toward Dubai. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 12:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  10. Hi @Mads. This week I will be travelling. No mid-week drive this time. After March 23rd most likely. Thanks for asking.
  11. Dear Desertnauts let's get ready for tomorrow's drive. We'll start just past the exit for Lisaili, opposite a truck stop area, corresponding to the entry point to a set of long-range dunes, between Lisaili's camel practice track and Margham's farms. The dunes are almost clean of shrubs here, with occasional bushes and tufts of grass, until we'll reach the classic Lisaili off-roading area. We'll likely encounter camels, as we move parallel to the pylon track, until we reach an open area, which we'll use to cross the pylons, and to reach the Qudra Lakes actual area. Here we'll face two sets of technical dunes, very close to each other, with some bushes. As soon as we reach the proximity of Love Lake we'll enter a dream-like location, with blinding white sand, and absolutely no bushes: a true miracle. Lots of gazelles populate this area, due to its abundance of water and trees surrounding it. Here we'll roam back and forth, progressing from south to north, and slowly approaching our planned exit, just past Love Lake, close to Qudra's Last Exit. The convoy order will be the following: @Rodas in Second Lead @JC_E at #3 @Shary at #4 @Carl Stanley at #5 @Looper at Center @Pramod B at #7 @Misha Puskar at #8 @Abhishek Chikara at #9 @J-P L at #10 and @Aser in Sweep Looking forward to seeing you a little before 8:00 AM, to allow a prompt departure. Have a nice Saturday evening.

  13. Dear Desertnauts, thanks a lot for joining this spur of the moment drive. Not much to say, other than let's have fun, in a relaxing drive, with plenty of climbs and descents, trying to beat the rush of sundowners that usually clogs Badayer's tallest star dunes. The convoy order at the moment looks like the following: @Glenn W in Second Lead @Mads at #3 @Jose Luis Campos at #4 @Gautam Banka at Center @JAISROCK at #6 @Alex M at #7 and @Senthil Kumar in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow to start at 3:00 PM. Meeting point will be posted shortly (at Badayer Shops).

Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 08:00 AM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NBkj2dcSeG85oDtB8 Action Plan: From Lisaili's (almost entirely) clean dunes, alongside E66, a straight run toward Qudra's Love Lakes and the Last Exit, just at the end of D63, across a variety of terrains, mostly fast (except a small set of technical dunes), to end the drive at the pristine, blinding white Qudra's Secret Dunes. Fun, fast (as much as possible) and new. One never knows when there may be the need to take an off-road shortcut between highways 😆 What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 12:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

  17. Hi @Glenn W. Sure, I can take 1 more expert driver. See you tomorrow. But you'll have to Sweep. Thanks
  18. Dear Desertnauts, a quick briefing before tomorrow's drive. In a nutshell, it should be a fun, relatively fast drive, in an almost unspoiled area, so close to Dubai and yet apparently so far away. We'll open the drive, and will close it, zigzagging on white sand, and long cordons of not very tall dunes, providing plenty of opportunity for side-sloping and crisscrossing. In the middle, we'll cross a small sabkha to enter two fields of quite tight dunes, that will slow us down, and force us to switch to a very patient, finesse style of driving. The convoy order is as follows: @khlief in Second Lead @Shary at #3 @Sam Selim at #4 @Nicolò at #5 @Aadi at #6 @Emanuel in the Center @Jose Luis Campos at #8 @Guido Ferriani at #9 @JAISROCK at #10 @Ben Lee at #11 and @lucas amat in Sweep Please fill up your tank at Qudra Last Exit's ADNOC station. See you all tomorrow, with the goal of starting as close to 3:00 PM as possible.
  19. Dear @Alex M, since I have not seen your promotion to Fewbie come through (unfortunately), I'll sign you out from this drive (you'll surely be able to sign up as Fewbie next week). At the same time @Nicolò you will automatically bu signed up for the drive: please conform if OK. Thanks a lot to both.
