  1. Post Drive Report A delayed and then delayed a bit more start meant we suffered from even softer sand than usual in an area reknowned for soft sand. This was not an easy newbie drive, but then I preadvised that it would be a challenge - and it was. This was a technical drive. The dunes are not large, but do require finesse and care. The technical dunes are not that short or challenging, but they are very very soft. There are not a lot of play areas, requiring everyone to remain at the top of their game throughout the drive. In my view we did not have a high number of refusals or stucks taking the terrain into account, the length of the convoy and the fact that concentration was already impacted by the delayed (twice) start. The newer the newbie today, the more impressive your performance - truly. We did not have any criss crossing, or ridge riding, or any real slide sloping. What we had was large sections of the drive where everyone had to focus on following a complicated route, cross a lot of dunes straight over and rise to the challenge of driving along the top of the dunes. @Alex Raptor you pretty much saved the day. Popouts handled in record time, and epic winch manouvre, sorting out all the refusals along the way. Your baptism of fire on your deserved promotion. @Jeepie wonderful to have you back in the sand, calmly sorting out everyone at the back of the convoy. @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil perfect 2nd lead. Avoided all the pit and pratfalls that I might have made. @Ramandbx sorry you got locked out buddy. @Senthil Kumar hope the grinding noise gets sorted. Some absolute massive additional kudos points to mention: Perfect convoy discipline and great radio usage today. Thanks everyone. It makes it so much easier when everyone complies. Good team work. Thanks for supporting where needed. There is a fewbie drive in this area tomorrow. That says all the newbies need to know about the standard today. We don't normally take newbies here. See you soon in the sand.
  2. If we have a late drop out, for sure we can add you. At the moment we have 15 in the convoy which the limit for this terrain. Please watch this space: unbelievably there are some that don't check these pages until Thursday and then decide if they really are joining.
  3. Hi All, As promised the convoy numbering for tomorrow's expedition. Delighted to be driving with @Jeepie in support and introducing our newest support team member @Alex Raptor For those worried about that sort of thing our meeting point will be https://goo.gl/maps/ZyUoms8TvWsANFMB6 What's great about this convoy is that we have a mixture of experience, allowing the more experienced fewbies and intermediates to support the newbies. I can hardly wait. See you soon in the sand.
  4. It's already prevailing. 2 Raptors in a week in the Advisors!
  5. @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil well done buddy. Big smile on my face today as I think back to our sand storm start to your desert career: well, it could only get better after that! Delighted to have you on board at this level. Looking forward to the chance to drive with you again soon.
  6. Congratulations Alex on a deserved promotion. No doubting that you will get a lot out of this and have a lot of fun doing it. Looking forward to the honour of being the first drive you will be supporting in your new official capacity.
  7. Congrats Dodi - delighted to see this promotion taking place. The Raptors are taking over and we all better get scared.

You're in for a treat ... at least I think so, because the terrain here is varied and quite challenging in parts: For sure, we have to cross one technical section of dunes that will require all your concentration and keeping your wits about you. There's also some wonderful wide dunes and slopes on which we can play and practice what you've all learned so far on your off-road journey (whether that's 1 previous drive or 100). I promise to post the meeting place later in the week (need to be sure that the gates that have to be open are still open). Once again, we request that in the event anyone cannot attend, remove your RSVP and post something on the forum here as well [it's just polite to let us know you're not coming]. Any questions, feel free to ask here. See you soon in the sand.

  13. General Info This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. Drive Concept Lehbab is one of the most entertaining, yet challenging terrains to which we can bring a Newbie group. Which is why we will venture into some soft sand areas while winding our way Eastward towards Lisaili. In this route, you'll cross some 'lite' technical areas. We will climb a few dunes. We will cross a lot more. And you will be challenged to put everything you learned to date into practice. I can't wait. 14. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to know that the passion that I inherited from @Gaurav for technical dunes, and with which he kindly let me run has infected more and more people in our club. I am 100% delighted to pass the 'mantle' of technical dune guardian to @Islam Soliman It was never mine to keep, just to carefully and temporarily look after until someone else wanted to continue sharing the enthusiasm for these critical skills that are needed to help us all become better drivers. In this game, there is rarely competition as all we want to see is that what little knowledge we have can be passed on to others so they can enjoy the same sort of experiences that we have had. Congratulations @Islam Soliman. Please continue to take care of this title until the next champion comes along.
  15. Really cannot stress how much I enjoy reading this knowledge sharing on this forum. Because that's what this club is all about. I cannot see the specifics of every driver while I am leading at the front, no matter how hard I try so more experienced drivers like Niki sharing such detailed and constructive feedback is invaluable. For sure, it's one of the key values of having more experienced drivers on lower rated drives. Sharing really is caring. I can tell you from my own experience that the more I share and give, the more I learn. Hoping to re-create this exact convoy some time soon. It was a pleasure and a privilege.
  16. Post Drive Report How good was that, indeed! What an awesome drive everyone. Murquab to Last Exit. 55km. Laughs along the way (well, at least I did!). Brilliant combination of long range, technical and slowing dunes. Incredible teamwork and flawless convoy discipline. Arriving at Last Exit exactly on time. Everyone should be proud of themselves. I did not make it easy, lots of criss crossing and ridge riding, some nice side sloping and some technical elements. A couple of excellent self recoveries, and the few occasions when help was needed nothing too serious. Callouts to @Mehmet Volga @Niki for their recovery support and @Alex Raptor in 2nd lead (more challenging than it looks when you drive a big truck like that). See you soon in the sand.

  18. Hi @Rjducos thanks for the update. This means that @Adam James and @andy_macdxb you're both promoted to the drive. See you in the morning.
  19. Hi @Nikola Bozovic I will publish the exact start location and the convoy tomorrow once we know who is coming.
  20. Ha ha ha ha ha @Chris Wing this is one of the funniest moments for a while! @Islam Soliman Mr. Wing used the same comments to join the short wheel base drive a few months ago. His FJ is clearly the most adaptable vehicle in the whole of Carnity. Enjoy your drive Chris, short, long - clearly you are just addicted to the sand.

There's three on this drive that I don't think I have had the pleasure of meeting before. If you've been on my drives you may have heard that we do sometimes have a 'theme' for our drives. I little additional amusement you might say to allow us to while away the hours while driving. So, to avoid complete bemusement I would humbly propose that you take the opportunity to view the internetwebworld thingy and take a look at the Fast Show. The last time we did something like this, which was a Star Wars event, the Death Star landed in the middle of the Sabkah and Darth Vader appeared before us breathing heavily (it was quite hot) before using the power of the dark side to crush a Ford Raptor before my very eyes ... which was nice ... Convoy list and numbering, radio channel tomorrow.
  22. Dear Murquab Masters, I know I bang on about this from time to time and it might seem a bit over the top this early in the week, but if any of you think that there is the slightest chance you cannot make the drive, there are already three people waiting in the wings to take your space.
  23. Guys - we can always change our plan from Murquab and join in the techno fun together.
