It happens. All this moment did is show that taking the lead is a challenge. Normally you're following so see the way over. This one I asked you to reroute. You had the lead. That's a different experience. Don't worry about it, don't put yourself under more pressure. Just enjoy.

Post Drive Report I love it when a plan comes together. This morning's ride fits that description and is why I really enjoyed the drive and am really grateful to everyone for their focus and attention through almost 4 hours of uninterrupted driving. Our route took us from Lehbab, through some beautiful and quite soft dunes, across the high pressure gas line, all the way to Margham and then back out to Lisaili. On this journey we saw what is some of my favorite scenery, lots of different dune formation styles, a bit of technical fun and we even ended on time. The support today - impeccable: @Alex Raptor is the most fantastic wingman for a drive lead. With the support of the sweep @Niki, I really had nothing to do on the recoveries and barely had to get out of my driving seat. As second lead, @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil has some experience of being in this role and today he was excellent. The distance he kept from my lead was perfect, which meant that he was always able to redirect if needed or not take some of the more difficult routes that I attempted. Sand was soft, yet everyone coped amazingly well. Special Call outs: @Pierre de Maigret your return after a few weeks on a Fewbie at this level - hat's off. We expect that there will be refusals at the end of the convoy. It's hard to get through the sand at the back. It's why our experienced drivers are at Sweep. @S Jacob SWB Pajero. Perfect! (But them I am biased) and without the benefit of the extra power of the 3.8 and no diff lock, you're handling the car well. Some of your refusals came today because you do not carry enough momentum. @Ehab - you're a few drives away from Fewbie Plus, so a Fewbie now if well within your capabilities. Use these sort of drives to practice a skill so that it gets better and better. @Damien Ranjit - that Pathfinder is in good hands. You too need to think about the amount of momentum you carry into a climb or problem. It will help you to have more controlled momentum to use it when you need it. @Abdul Rafay-S your driving gets better and better. You are totally in control of that car. Very few people understand the massive benefit of having been a passenger in a car on multiple drives. We all want to drive, but I think that everyone needs to be a passenger at least 5 times to understand the drive from a totally different perspective and learn from that, like you. @Naveen Raj - a good drive in a vehicle that is a little less well powered than most. Says a lot about your driving that you don't every look disadvantaged because of this. @munkybizness - we all have days when it does not all string together. Treat the whole day as a learning experience and find the takeaways that you can from what you've learned. Watching Chris will help you. He's starting to pull out the potential from his car @Christopher Assal all that Patrol whispering is paying off. All the mods seem to be working to your benefit. Was great to see you. My only regret today was that no-one actually say the monumental self recovery I managed on this drive. My point here is not to boast that I managed a good recovery. It's to continue to remind everyone that when you get stuck. here ever possible you want to try to drive off. It might take a bit of time - but so what? That's what these drives are for. Post Drive Report Driving in the desert at night is not for everyone. For the majority of those that joined the drive last night there was a chance to enjoy the experience - because being experienced drivers, driving at Newbie level is a chance to enjoy the drive stress free. I am always delighted when we get a mix of experienced and newer drives. Beginners learn a massive amount from watching, following, emulating the experienced members. We were blessed with two late entry intermediates @Pacific and @Mario Cornejowhich meant I could pack the convoy with the additional experience of @Danish Mohammad knowing that our newly promoted Support Team member @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ could handle enything that was placed in his way. In the end, the Newbies on the drive were @TheoB, @Santoso Marjuki and @Bernard Kalaani. It's never easy being on a drive with a lot of seniors ( @Sunil Mathew the only other driver on our list [great 2nd lead by the way] because there is a feeling that you are the only one getting refusals. So let's put this out there now: we expect that you will have refusals. In fact if you don't, we start to ask why, because that's how you learn. Notwithstanding, we had a great incident free evening yesterday. Convoy discipline was impeccable. There were no real challenging stucks and we covered all the ground that was planned so we finished the drive exaclty on time and where we planned to finish. Was this the most challenging drive ever? Of course not, it was not supposed to be. It delivered on the promise of getting from Murquab to Last Exit during which time we were able to make some nice small climbs, cross dunes straight on and even do a little side sloping (a really important skill). The drive did miss my signature of small technicals dunes - but that can come on another day. In the end, covering 50km at night, on difficult terrain for newbies was a really impressive achievement for the whole convoy. The newbies for completing the drive, the more experienced drivers for holding the discipline and reigning in your enthusiasm. From my side, it was well worth the late night (before an early morning) because the drive was great and I got the chance to practice self recovery a few times. See you soon in the sand.

@Santoso Marjuki thanks for signing up to the drive, however, it looks to me like you did not yet complete an absolute newbie drive that is a prerequisite to being able to sign up to any other drive. Since your first drive with @Frederic back in March 2020 (just before we closed down due to COVID) the enthusiasm and joy that you brought to the desert has been infectious. Knowing you are now a part of the Advisors brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the team that will benefit all the members of the club. Congratulations on your new role. Hi @Bernard Kalaani as a convoy member you don't need night lights for the drive. They do help a little, but we cannot expect everyone to invest in lights ... and there will be a good moon for this drive as well.

Hi @Ajit John there will be climbs in the future where using the tiptronic/manual might be a better option, but until the time you really understand the capabilities of your car, stick with D in my view. I have made it to marshal in a completely unmodified vehicle always driving in D. Even now in Intermediate drives, it is very rare that I use the manual. Where the car has massive power, you might need to control the gear because it is changing down too soon (think of the 10 gears in a Raptor) or in an underpowered car you might need to 'lock' the car in a particular gear so it will not shift and lose momentum. For the moment, I advise focus on getting the basic skills in place before you worry about gear changes.

My bad Paul. You have not been demoted - you really demonstrated how well you handle the vehicle and all the challenges today. Definitely Fewbie Plus
