Good afternoon Desertnauts, What an amazing opportunity you've signed up for with the South of Qudra drive. Watteau @Watteau GD27 @GD27 Osama Al Hamwi @Osama Al Hamwi Tareq Ghosheh @Tareq Ghosheh Arshad Roojee @Arshad Roojee Robert Nammour @Robert Nammour William Fernandes @William Fernandes Abilash Madhavan @Abilash Madhavan syed salman raza @syed salman raza Lee Wilson @Lee Wilson Serafino @Serafino You are going to have to have your A game with you on Friday. Why did I pick South of Qudra for this drive? Firstly, it's not that well used as a 4x4 zone because it's a tiny bit further out than the Qudra Lakes area (yes - please take into account it's a 20 minute drive from the Al Qudra gas station to the start point). Secondly. we are spoiloed by the choice of wide dunes, high dunes and slopes on which to play. For a newbie, it's the ultimate playground because we can drive for a long time through, over and around the dunes and practice the skills needed to feel confident on the sand. The downside to this is that there is some soft sand to navigate and it means you need to get your momentum and power ratios sorted so that you can float over the incredible white sands and climb the magnificent dunes in front of us. If everyone is doing well, we can venture further in (direction of Ganthoot - Adu Dhabi) and try to find some of the amazing pyramid dunes - but maybe they are for another day. What can you expect on this drive? Wide dunes, high climbs (for a beginner) a faster pace and some side sloping as well as riding ridges. Sounds like fun! Myself and @marks are looking forward to it. See you soon in the sand.

Hi @Miamimoe Carnity rules are that for all drivers, an Absolute Newbie is compulsory. You can self certify after that based on your experience. Friday's AN is in pretty much the same area as the planned Newbie. Hope you'll understand that this route is in place to protect the safety of everyone. It certainly looks like you have some great experience and an amazingly capable vehicle so I am sure after this AN you'll be totally on track. There is still space on the AN. https://carnity.com/calendar/event/580-absolute-newbie-morning-desert-drive-al-qudra-dubai-12-feb-2021 @Serafino you are now on the drive. One of the other sign ups has had to pull out.

Mario Cornejo has been promoted to Fewbie level
Wrangeld replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Congrats @Mario Cornejo on this promotion. Well deserved -
This is a drive that will start in the daylight and end in dark, with the plan to have around 2 hours in dusk of complete darkness conditions. If you do not feel confident about driving in the dark, have any sight problems which might make it impossible for you to see properly in the dark, please think carefully before signing up for this drive. Night drives are a completely different experience for the off roaders. In the daytime we can see everything in front of us laid out and clear. It night we can see no more than the 40 meters in front of our vehicles and this type of driving needs precision and care. It's also exhilarating in a way that you do not get in the daylight. This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. MUST READ AND TOTALLY AGREE: COVID19 Precautions MUST READ AND TOTALLY AGREE: BAN POST Two Way Radio Guidelines Every Off-roader brings his own radio, programmed to the frequencies described in below advice topic. We will not share spare radios or program your radio on the drive. If you need assistance in programming the radio, post a topic on the Carnity website with your questions and we will help you out. Make sure your radio is fully charged. It will be your only way of communication while driving. Before buying, please carefully read below advice so you are informed properly on which model / cost / shops... No radio = No drive. It is an essential tool and you should make sure you bring it on every drive and learn/practice how to use it. Morning All, Congratulations to @Lorenzo Candelpergher for a great lead yesterday. One of the reasons that Marshals become marshals is that we enjoy the challenge of leading a drive. For anyone that tried to go out into the desert themselves or with friends you know just how easy it is to get stuck and find that your fun day out becomes a nightmare. Once you learn how to lead you understand how to navigate through the dunes giving excitement and at the same time keeping the convoy moving and safe. So, it was with massive pleasure that I was able to hand over the reigns this week to a driver in who's story in Carnity I have been humbled to play a part and watch him put everything he brings to the game from a personality and management side and what he has learned over the months to leading his first full drive. And what a fantastic job he did. From start to finish the drive was controlled, exciting, challenging and perfectly paced. Those of you who were on the drive - you should remember that you were on Lorenzo's first lead: because it is going to the first of many many amazing drives. I have no doubt that there will be a fan club growing soon of drivers wanting to join his posted drives. For anyone intersted, we managed to get Yasas out of the desert and his car was revocered to the garage. No doubt, it will be back on the road again for next week. See you soon in the sand.

HI All It's that one more sleep until we ride feeling. So here is the convoy list for the drive. Some big beasts will need to make their way through soem of the most technical dunes the region has to offer - which should be fun, unless we can find an alternative route through them. This means that those of you used to using all that power to get you through, regardless of the mess it leaves in your wake, DON'T. These dunes require finesse, skill and an absolute balance between power and precision. After that, it's fun fun fun all the way to Last Exit through the wonderful wide and swooping dunes around the area. Dear Lislaili adventurers, The route from Lisaili to Last Exit has some of the most mazing dunes in our region, some fantastic wide swooping dunes and if we get it wrong, some of the most technically challenging dunes this country has to offer. So you better all hope that the navigation works out. So far, confirmed on the RSVP are: Jon M @Jon M Jack Thomas @Jack Thomas Nizam Deen @Nizam Deen RaYan E @RaYan E Yusuf Esaf @Yusuf Esaf luwaimn @luwaimn Yasas Dharmadasa @Yasas Dharmadasa Athula Dharmadada @Athula Dharmadada Niki Patel @Niki Patel This drive is managed by myself and @Lorenzo Candelpergher. If you don;t have the needed 5 drives under your belt (I think that's why Ken signed out), or your not ready for a fast paced, technical challenge where we will try to cover the whole route to Last Exit do think carefully about if this is the drive for you. If that's what you do want, we are going to make this an incredible drive with a few unexpected surprises to come. Tuesday is almost over - only two more sleeps till Friday. See you soon in the sand.
