Mahmoud Asar @Mahmoud Asar Mohamed Abo ElKomsan @Mohamed Abo ElKomsan Thomas Varghese @Thomas Varghese Shehab Alawadhi @Shehab Alawadhi Mohamed Seidam @Mohamed Seidam Szymon Stankiewicz @Szymon Stankiewicz Arman @Arman Alphin Aloor @Alphin Aloor Aus Alzubaidi @Aus Alzubaidi Harold Roberts @Harold Roberts What a fantastic convoy we have already for this drive. Qudra has so much to offer for all levels of drives. There are long range dunes where we can slide slope to our heart's content, swooping valleys and pockets where the soft sand is so deceptive that a 1 meter mistake will drag you in and there are sections of technical dunes that challenge the best of us. There are even high pyramid dunes which are normally reserved and of course, some lovely low and safe dunes where we can practice both ridge riding a criss crossing whicha re skills every driver needs to move up to the more adrenalin fuelled advanced drives. It's got the lot. My plan for the drive on Friday is simple. From our start point a few km from Last Exit naviagte through sand that is often untouched by convoys because it's more difficult to get through, find our way to some long rang dunes in the direction of Bab al Shams, scre the gazelle and Oryx as we move out further West and then double back East (once the sun is high enough) towards Solar Park and in the direction of Lisali covering both technical and swooping dunes through and off the Sabkas. How far we can take the challenge will be totally down to how this amazing convoy handles the challenges. Anyone who knows my drives knows I am not afraid to take the convoy through technical sections, sometimes avoided by other drives, because I think that the technical dunes are where we really learn the skills of control of car, acelleration, steering and sand. We will be climbing and crossing dunes the whole time as well and hopefully see some parts of teh Qudra complex that are less visited - why? Because Qurda is so well travelled that finding the pristine clear sand tracks is not easy. If we cover a lot of kilometers that's OK - but not the aim of this drive. The aim of this drive is to throw as many different challenges to you as possible and get everyone safely and happily out with a big grin on their face. More to follow during the week. See you soon in the sand.

Thomas, please note the new timing. We start at 7am instead of 6.30. Because of my drive plan, even if it is foggy we will still be able to drive because of the options available from the planned start point. However, it's winter ... Or as I like to think of it, European summer. If you don't like the cold, study our if the freezer. And, a later start means noone has any family time left.

@Dodi Syahdar thanks for sharing. The only thing I can add to what has been written is to remind everyone of the importance of listening to the vehicle in a drive. A strange noise is a signal. I know, we all want to drive, but if the vehicle started making noises you don't like, you have to consider something is not right. As trip lead we always have an escape scenario and we prefer to take sometime to exit a car than have a driver worried about the strange noises.

Good Evening Murquab Drivers Here are the convoy numbers for the drive tomorrow morning. We will brief in the cars tomorrow because of the increase in COVID infections. For this reason, here is the convoy list and numbers. We will be using radio Channel 2. Please park with enough distance between the vehicels, and go back to only one person out of the car on deflation. Recoveries during the drive will also be returning to only seniors and marshals out of the car. Safety of everyon is our key concern. Where we can invite everyone to come round to see a recovery we will, but otherwise, your patience will be needed. @Hardik Mody you've been signed out of the drive as you are confirmed on the drive with @Brette at the same time. @Dodi Syahdar you are now added to the drive. @Emmanuel is aware that you will be driving two drives that day. This (even though it is the earlier drive) will be your second drive of the day.
-
@Hardik Mody @Dodi Syahdar You are both still on the waitlist. As soon as we know more about waitlists in general for the weekend, I will adivse if there is a space on the drive. This can be either due to drop outs or because myself and @Chaitanya D as the marshals believe we can safely add more drivers to the convoy without risk.

This route has such a varied selection of dunes that it's impossible not to have a great drive. The plan, for anyone wanting to know that sort of thing is to enter some of the playable dunes around Murquab before we venture into the technical dunes that lead to the SZS (Sheikh Zayed Sandway) and the high long dunes around Solar Park to the East of Last Exit. From there we will swing West towards Bab Al SHams and then the final drive Northwards into Las Exit. I'll make no bones about it, this is a challenging drive for Newbies because of the complexity of dune, the length of the drive and the need to be in full concentration though the changing type of challenge along the way. We estimate that taking refsuals and stucks into account, we should be able to reach Last Exit within a 4 hour drive, but if we don't, hey, we don't. The sand is a fickle master and frankly, you never know what it throws up to us. There's a chance we will be lucky in part of the drive because it's been really windy over the last days. This will mean that a lot of the cross tracks that have been a signature feature of drives over recent weeks will have been covered so we get the chance to drive on realtively virgin sand. More details to come during the week aslong with radio frequency and potentially a convoy numbering. If any one cannot make it, please let us know early. There is a waitlist for the drive and we really don't want to leave people on the waitlist if a driver that is signed up is not going to make it for any reason. See you soon in the sand.
