Interpid Fossil Rockers I was asked more than once if the Fossil Rock decsent is Newbie level today. Truth is that is can be and sometimes it is harder than others. Today was one of those where it was a little more challenging. Normally there is quite a lot of sand to protect any small arroers of judgment at the top and today it was all steps and rock - so brilliantly done everyone: I would never have decided to go with this if the standard of the driving elading up to the Rock had not been so good. @Ahab Shamaa did an excellent job in 2nd lead for the first time. It's a responsibility to follow the lead and change course where needed and I was delighted to see how you handled this role excellently. @Magdy Zahran - your enthusiasm was infectious! Really great to have you on the drive and good to see that you understand the potential of your car. @syed salman raza when the car works, you are really getting to grips with it. You do need to sort out the reliability as the low fule moment was a real concern and we nearly had to let you exit early because of it. We all know you are comitted and enthusastic and admire it, but the car needs to be up to your standard of driving as well. @Luca Bregni big lesson of the day ... I think you will never forget that button ever again! @Sai Baskaran glad you enjoyed it and it amuses me to think that I was going to play a practical joke on you. I knew you could make it. @Ranjan Das same for you. You are getting better and better each drive. Keep it up. @Federico Galbieri you understand what you jeep can do and are silently and effectively honing that skill. @Sandeep Padhi well done controlling the electrics on your car. it has great capabilities - but not all of them are really designed for the sandso keep on learning these rules. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ second time out in the Wrangler - you still need to understand the use of the power a bit better. But great drive today. @Nithin Vaidir the LC is a difficult beast to tame. You are getting there and need to be a little less tentative from time to time. @Sharooq Fassul I know that Lorenzo had you in his eyes the whole trip and from what i could hear, a little more gas from time to time would be good. What's next? Keep driving with the same passion you showed this week. Newbie time is not about scaling the highest highs or crossing the most comlex dunes (that comes later) it's about learning the art of 4x4 in sand. Get this right now and the excitement will build and build - safely. See you soon in the sand.

Dear Fossil Rockers, It's that time on Thursday when we start to think about the weekend. In twelve hours, if you are not awake ... you will miss your Friday drive. Below is the proposed convoy numbering. Morning Newbie Desert Drive Fossil Rock 6 Nov 2020 Attendees Level Car Radio Pos # Wrangeld Marshal Mitsubishi Pajero SWB Y 1 Ahab Shamaa Newbie Toyota FJ Cruiser Y 2 Magdy Zahran Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB Y 3 syed salman raza Newbie Jeep Wrangler Y 4 Luca Bregni Newbie Jeep Wrangler y 5 Sandeep Padhi Newbie Jeep Wrangler Y 6 Ranjan Das Newbie LR Discovery Y 7 Sai Baskaran Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB Y 8 Federico Galbieri Newbie Jeep Grand Cherokee Y 9 Muhammed Kashif Razzaq Newbie Jeep Wrangler SWB Y 10 Nithin Vaidir Newbie Toyota Landcruiser Prado Y 11 Sharooq Fassul Newbie Jeep Wrangler SWB Y 12 Lorenzo Candelpergher Advance Nissan Patrol Y62 Y 13 Please make sure that you read this well, along with all the other information posted on the Carnity sites about drive preparation and setting up your radio. We will be using Carnity Channel 2: Frequency 446.03125 Meeting time is 6.00 am. Anyone arriving after taht time risks missing the drive, because we will be moving as quickly as possible from the meeting point. For anyone wondering, it is possible if you drive carefully to reach the meeting point without deflating, but if you want to deflate by the road, please make sure you do it safely as there is a lot of traffic on this road early morning. COVID rules remain the same for Carnity as before, so please respect these rules. Keep distance, stay in your car, wear a mask. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning. @Lorenzo Candelpergher @Sharooq Fassul @Nithin Vaidir @Ahab Shamaa @Magdy Zahran @Sai Baskaran @Ranjan Das @Federico Galbieri @Luca Bregni @syed salman raza @Bhaskar @Sandeep Padhi @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ See you soon in the sand

Dear Fossil Rockers State of play so far. We are a convoy of 14. @Ahab Shamaa @Magdy Zahran @syed salman raza @Luca Bregni @Sandeep Padhi @Bhaskar @Federico Galbieri @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ @Nithin Vaidir @Sharooq Fassul @Ranjan Das @Sai Baskaran Fossil Rock and the lead up to the rock awaits. Another check before you get up early tomorrow morning and so you don't risk being turned away. IS YOUR CAR SAND READY? Flag, and mount (that will not fall off every five minutes) Tow points front and back. We will not allow you on the drive if your car only has a tow ball at the rear - this is unsafe for desert recoveries Working radio programmed to the correct Carnity Channel (this will be channel 2) IS YOUR MIND SAND READY? Fossil Rock can be a challenging area because it is not all wide sweeping dunes and spaces to traverse from one to the other. It can be a challenge for newbie drivers because, especially when you do not have your A game with you. If you are driving with Family and friends, remind them you will need to concentrate during the drive, pay attention to radio messages and deal with any recoveries calmly. WILL YOU BE READY ON TIME? We really try to leave on time for our drives. It's quite frustrating for other drivers if you arrive even a few minutes late and then start deflation. So ... plan to arrive early, deflate as soon as you arrive, put up your flag and we can get moving as soon as possible. After all, we are out in the desert to drive, not to wait for our convoy to get ready and preapre before leaving. see you soon in the sand.

Good Morning Fossil Rockers, @Ahab Shamaa @Nithin Vaidir @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ @Ranjan Das @Sai Baskaran @Sandeep Padhi @Luca Bregni @Sharooq Fassul @Vinojps @syed salman raza @Federico Galbieri Two days to go: What to Expect?: Steep descents (down the slipface of dunes), playtime - there are noce big dunes to practice some skills, technical dunes - essential learning for any off roader and a big climb. If you never drove at Fossil Rock before it has a bit of an initiation for the Newbie, with a hill climb (where you will have to push your pedal to the metal like you probably never did before) and a descent over the other side, which looks a little daunting for the Newbie who has never done it and is addictive for those of us who have been 'over the rock' before. In between, lots of dunes on which to play, lots of going up and over and across the dunes, lots of fun and excitement. If you are on your 4th or 5th Newbie, then use this drive to hone and practice your skills. You will need them if you are pushing on the door of promotion to Fewbie level. We will be supported by one of our newly promoted Advance drivers @Lorenzo Candelpergher on this drive. He is an excellent example of a driver who started his experience with Carnity only a few months ago and has very quickly advanced (no pun intended) through the ranks. See you soon in the sand.

@Frederic from the moment you kindly offered a shovel to me and Marjan on our first drive, through all our development, you've been there supporting, mentoring, advising and helping me be a better driver and leader. You can't get a higher rank in Carnity, but there's no doubt you are going to be flying higher and higher now you have this new status. Thanks for your friendship and fellowship. There's a lot more to this story.

Tbone has been promoted to Expert level
Wrangeld replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Excellent news @Tbone. It's been great to grow in this game with you Vinod and see how with the new car you grabbed the hobby again with both hands and just tore the heck out of it. I am sure that had it not been for the few months you were out of action you would have been promoted far above me. I hope to be supporting one of your drives some time soon. -
Hi @Vinojps sandworthy means that even if it's a 4x4, it is prepared properly for our drives e.g. Tow hooks front and back, all the fluids are filled before the drive. Flag and pole. Your Wrangler should be totally fine - but please do check out the videos above to make sure that everything is exactly as it should be. Thanks for asking and making sure. Richard

Good Morning Fossil Rockers, @Ahab Shamaa @Nithin Vaidir @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ @Ranjan Das @Sai Baskaran @Sandeep Padhi @Luca Bregni @Sharooq Fassul @Vinojps @syed salman raza @Federico Galbieri Fossil Rock represents a number of opportunities and experiences for the Newbie. There are multiple 'play' areas where we can practice soem new skills, there are technical dunes that will catch out the unaware and at the end of the drive the Fossil Rock climb and descent - a sort of Newbie initiation and thrill that everyone needs to experience (again and again!). The drive will end at an Adnoc station, so having a compressor is not compulsory - but having a Flag, a deflator and guage and working radio (that means that it is programmed and fully charged before we leave) is. Second thing to be very careful about is that your car is 'sandworthy'. Your towpoints need to be in good condition, your car well maintained and with all the fluids checked. Finally, be on time - as anyone who knows my drives will tell, you: I leave on time! If you are not there and ready to go when we are supposed to be leaving, no apologies: we will be under way. There will be a more detailed per-brief on the drive later in the week. If for any reason you already know you cannot attend, despite having signed up, please let me know ASAP. We do not yet have a waitlist, but there are always drivers that will fill your spot if you cannot make it for any reason. See you soon in the sand

I am really pleased about this @Lorenzo Candelpergher, as I have watched your journey over the last months, probably in the same way that I feel @Rahimdad @Gaurav @Srikumar and @Frederic we watching over my development in Carnity [and look where that got me 😂]. I think you have been on more of my lead drives than anyone else which is why it so pleasing to see that you have been awarded this rank. Just goes to prove that you CAN succeed even when the drives are a disaster! You've listened to everything that has been said and taken the feedback and made the changes, improving your poise and capability all the time. I am delighted to welcome you to the seniors group in the team and look forward to digging out people on one of your drives some time soon.

Short Report - Qudra Round About Today's drive was a triumph. I guess I could end the report there, because bluntly, we had an incredible convoy, that handled everything thrown at them excellently, great team work was dsiplayed and we practiced and practiced until it got dark. So, from my side, a big thanks. A few people get special notes (sorry if I miss you out - it's only because I was at the front!) @syed salman raza: I really hope you sorted out the clutch. Thanks for being so positive about it and taking the right action and not coming with us on the drive. @Malachy McGrogan: Excellent in 2nd lead - especially considering that you have never done it before. You left a clear track for eveyone else behind you and helped them keep on track immaculately. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA: Considering how many drives you have under your belt, your assistance today was invaluable and impressive. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ: considering that you only got teh new wheels yesterday - great drive. It takes time to get used to a new car and it looked by the end of the drive you were really starting to understand the car. @Anvar Sadath Bekal: Firstly, nice to see you back with us after a long break - looks like you are getting back the hang of it quickly. @Jack Thomas: Well done for getting your space at the last moment and making the beast look easy to drive. So pleased we were able to drive you straight to the camping ground of your friends in Qudra as part of teh service. Try signing up earlier next time. Normally there is a wait list. @Sai Baskaran I know you were on the wait list for another drive. I hope that this justified making the decision to come on this. You probably learned quite a lot about recoveries! Please remember, once you are on the move - keep moving! @RAKIN KURIAKOSE that Pathfinder is doing well under your control. I think you managed almost without problem - unless caused by being a little too close to the car in front that slowed your momentum. @Sharooq Fassul and @Mahmoud Asar - you were a bit too far for me to see a lot of what you did, but i guess the fact I did not hear about you means that Jeepie had a quiet day at the end of the convoy. @Jeepie: thanks for leeping everything in order at the end of the convoy. It was quite a quiet day for you which is testament to the great driving by the whole convoy. We covered more than 40km on the drive today. That's amazing for a newbie drive so you should all be very pleased and proud of what you achieved today. See you soon in the sand.
