  1. Charlie - thanks for that. At the moment we have space on the Absolute Newbie drive.
  2. Nothing more needed @Claire Adshead. Thanks for the RSVP @Waqas Parvez you've also been added to the drive so no need to place an additional RSVP.
  3. Great that you got the Newbie place nailed. Absolute Newbie again means that you get the briefing again and as you already did a masterclass as well, it's probably better to go for a Newbie where there is space. Hi @Fauzia Parveen what a brilliant vehicle choice (!) I guess this means you are likely driving the @Danish Mohammad SWB 3.8 [without the diff lock!] Looking forward to seeing you on Friday. Yes, you are registered. @Claire Adshead you still did not click on the RSVP for the drive. We would love to see you, but the drive is quickly filling up, so please make sure you RSVP in the right way.
  4. @Michel Van Woudenberg looks like you removed your name. Is that what you intended?
  5. Hi Shams, yes, I understand that there was an issue last week that it was not possible to locate the front and rear tow points. I understand that the rear has a hitch with two small eyelets - is it possible to load a photo so we can be 100% sure this time. I would hate for you to find that 2 weeks in a row you there are problems. Understand that this is not 100% convenient, but our principle concern is safety and better to be safe than sorry.
  6. I am looking forward to supporting a drive led by you in the desert soon.
  7. Perfect. Thanks for the response. Looking forward to seeing you Friday. Hi Michel, It's unusual but the circumstances probably mean we can make an exception here - better to go safely than rush into things and with the vehicle having been upgraded I will leave you in the drive.
  8. @Michel Van Woudenberg Thanks for signing up for the drive, however, it looks like you already did your absolute newbie drive and a newbie with Vanessa. Unfortuntely, unless there is a pressing reason (new car/not driven in more than 12 months etc.) drivers cannot join another Absolute Newbie. Hope you understand. We will ask the other newbie drive leads if they have room. @Shams Bin Majeed @VIJAYA KUMAR DOPPA Do you have any off road experience? Does your car have tow points front and back? What is your car? Why are you joining the Absolute Newbie?
  9. Now it's sorted. You got it right. Look forward to meeting you Friday.
  10. @Rouaj @Imteeaz Goolamhossen @Yasin Thanks for signing up for the Absolute Newbie drive this week. Can you please let us know a little about yourselves. Do you have any off road experience? Does your car have tow points front and back? What is your car? Why are you joining the Absolute Newbie? Looking forward to seeing you on Friday. @Harshad Ashraf please make sure you actually sign up for the drive. I do not see that you RSVP'd

  13. Post Drive Report There are some days when you feel you did not do your best as a lead to find a great track, or make it challenging or that you did not impart any real knowledge to the drivers. And there are days like today, when the sand has been damaged beyond reason and it's impossible to find rythym because at every turn you find that there are dangerous tracks created by bulldozers. Simply, the tracks and wake left by it from the bulldozers that have sandalized (vandals in the sand) what was a wonderful area in which we enjoyed playing in Sweihan have made it very difficult to find a line that is safe, fun and flowing. Everything that Sweihan used to be. If you sense in this report frustration and sadness, you'll be right. Leads plan drives based on the expectations we set for the drive (and ourselves) and today ... the plan was thrown out of the window, torn up and shredded into minuscule pieces. This will go down as a we did our best drive. Did our best to cover ground, did out best to side slope, did our best to criss cross and ridge ride. We also did our best to enjoy when we could and the lay bowls were impressive. Thanks all for the patience and understanding, expecially as we needed to exit Charlie along the way. See you soon in the sand.
  14. So ... once you post the drive, you get feedback. Slight changes in ranks and small order change.
  15. OK. Might move you further forward as a result. Apologies - it's not automated on my spreadsheet and I missed that one.
  16. Sweihan team, Here is the convoy list for tomorrow's drive: @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Alexander Holodny @Ben84 @John Vanderbleek @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @varunmehndiratta @ShereenMK @munkybizness @Daniel Rodas @Josh T. @Alex Raptor We will use Carnity radio channel 4. See you all in the morning.
  17. Hi Varun, Will do a check with the convoy today and let you know. As first drive you get preference and we do not have waitlist of first drive members at the moment.
  18. The action plan on Thursday is as follows - we will scale some peaks and swoop our way through the Sweihan ranges of dunes. If you are thinking of bringing passengers, make sure they have strong stomachs, Sweihan can be like a roller coaster ride as the bowls are deep and long. Unusually for me I will be trying to stay clear of the technical dunes because I like the idea of scaling the heights and descending some of the vertignous slip faces that form a part of these ranges. I have learned, however, that planning a drive in Sweihan is often a fool's errand. It seems however well we plan, the plan goes awry. See you Thursday in the sand.
  19. Kind of you to give some credit to me for the blip blip method, however, this is a technique all the marshals will employ when needed - I am sure that if needed @Srikumar will employ the technique if the situation requires. What is good to see @Thomas Varghese is that you internalised the experience and can use it to the full. While there were drivers on that drive getting impatient for us to use a rope or wished that the process took less time, the best learning that any driver can get is to learn how to drive their car out of trouble (possibly with assistance digging). Driving away from the challenge is what all marshals aim to assist the whole convoy in acheiveing.
  20. Hi @Thomas Varghese thanks for the clarification. I am pleased firstly to know you have a confirmed drive over the weekend. As you know, the priority is to make sure that everyone has at least one drive. Once the drives open up again for second drives, we can look again. I think you have seen that I have a single driver waitlisted for 1st drive, and as you have also quite rightly said, Srikumar currently has space on his drive. Experience tells me that the spaces on that will fill up (unfortunately) as the AD drivers tend to be a little more relaxed at 7pm on a Sunday and sign in later. But let's see where we are at the end of the week.
  21. @Thomas Varghese can you confirm that you have a confirmed place on a drive this weekend (first drive)? I cannot keep pace with where people are or not listed. Do I understand that if we open for 2nd drives, you would like to join this as a 2nd drive?
  22. @John Vanderbleek you are added. @Serafino you're now at the top of the waitlist. High likelihood you will be driving on Thursday. Please remain patient. Adding one car to the convoy is usually very doable.
  23. @John Vanderbleek we have another drop out from the drive. If you still want to be included, please confirm and I will add you. If not, there is space for @Serafino
  24. Hi @Serafino when the drive opened, more than 10 wanted to sign in. Because the drive was full a wait list was also created (please see comments above). The 'space' you saw was the 10 minutes or so after Niki removed his name and I could replace it with Chris, who was first in wait list. When Gregory left, ShereenMK who was next was promoted to the next spot. You would have been #4 in the list of preference had you followed the Carnity process (and added your name to WL). You are now #2. During the week, depending on how many first drive are in WL myself and @Alex Raptor will decide if we extend the convoy so everyone gets a drive.
