  1. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for allowing me to join, it was a long time I was on your drive and absolutely loved it dear "dunemaster". Especially at the back behind some monster 4by4s and trucks, it was fun all the way. Well done everyone as all drove great, despite some minor niggles as expected. @Foxtrot Oscar good to see you back . Some how with the mid week drives I get the feeling the length of week feels reduced with this adventure on sands. And yes you feel refreshed ! Enjoy your remaining week everyone 😊
  2. Yes smaller rims means you have to compensate with a higher profile tyre For ex if you are 265 by 60 by 17 inch and you downsize to 16 inch rims you will be opting for a 65 profile tyre. This increase in profile increases your foot print on deflation ( even though marginal) but it improves overall flotation with deflated tires on sand and effectively less chance of pop out ( one of the causes other than the style of driving ) But smaller rims size affect or cause rubbing with brake pads when downsized which needs to be checked
  3. Totally agree on this point especially, with some personal experience after installing a winch on stock bumper (on my xterra) which slightly alters/blocks the air flow. Even this small block or alteration tends to keep your engine less cooled , not that it over heats all the time but definitely affects the airflow.
  4. Has anyone tried if it is possible to mount a led bar in the FJ hood where there is a plastic insert as in the green arrows below pic (probably only cosmetic) It would be a nice concealed way (without the sound effects of a roof mounted led bar) to attach your lights on a FJ if anyone is interested . @Niki Patel, @Christian Andras, @Ashok chaturvedi, @Ale Vallecchi, @topgear, @marks, @Heisem.., @Junaid120120, @Ahab Shamaa @Pmaraziti @Pierre de Maigret.and other FJ owners .
  5. Stock lights with high beam is fine +/- fog lamps. Not necessary to have a led bar or extra lights when driving in a convoy as you will be following the tracks taken by car in front
