  1. Signed up: @nithish468, @Glenn W, @RiadJL, @Ahmed Farouk, @Mahesh_, @azad, @Mahmut, @Andrei S, @Anoop Nair, @Haneef Thayyil, Waitlisted: @khlief, @Cristian, @ChrisW, @Giacomo, @Sandeep Nayar, @Lala G, @Shahid Mehmood Support: @Bjoern As there is a significant wait list, it is inevitable that the convoy got split. I am not able to find anyone else, so planning to do double duty. I have couple of options: Drive on Saturday: same time same location, or Do a reverse drive: start at Ghantoot and end at Qudra, at about 11 am, and do a return drive at noon from Qudra and end at Ghantoot. After considering both the options, I have decided to do a second drive to be held on Saturday this time. I will experiment the reverse drive next time if required. I have posted the drive below and request you to sign up if want to join. Please carefully note the time and place and the nearest fuel station. I Will Not Consider Waitlists ----------- Sunday Drive:

  3. Number one point to remember is that Sony makes all the camera CCDs used in almost all of them DashCams. So often times there’s hardly any difference between the run of the mill Chinese made dash cams. Most of them are made in just a few factories. Of course there are differences based on the cost, e.g. high-end dash-cams will have newer most sophisticated CCD and better connectivity and app features. My go to recommendation was 70 Mai for the same reason but one of them burnt on me when I was hot swapping the memory card while it was in operation. I had done it many times in a past model but the new one just died. I have seen good reviews of VIOFO. Suggest you view some YouTube reviews before you take a plunge.
  4. Obviously, the pièce de résistance of the drive was DP Hill. We spent more time at the foot of it than actually driving it and only half of the convoy could manage a go at it, and rest looped behind @Rob S. I could understand the FOMO that another convoy was having because it is the same with me. You want to go around it as much as possible, but it is a very difficult place to navigate and there is only one track that can be taken it being a super tight technical area. Hopefully we will be back soon. Rest of the drive after DP Hill was so so, and the desert is even greener than I anticipated. Unfortunately, our Plan A and B failed. But for me it is the journey, which is important than the destination, so exited on time at Muquab itself. @Ishak, @khlief, @J-P L, @nithish468, @Frans M, @azad, @Lala G, @Waqaɾ, @Gautam Banka, @Andrei S, @Alphin Aloor, @Mahesh_, @Amir Amiri, @Rob S Thank you all for joining this year-end drive with me and wishing you all a very happy new year.
  5. DRIVE PLAN I have done a few drives with @Ale Vallecchi in the general area and always loved the pristine dunes devoid of any tracks and white sands. I would suspect that it would be lush green. It would be one last drive in the area if it is green or start of many if it is not. I touched upon this area personally during the practice runs of DCT 2023 and found the area still good. Fingers crossed we will find a nice play area. This is the area when in one such drives with @Kailas as lead in July 2021, I changed my profile name and decided to call myself @Looper(Link). 7. We will be climbing DP Hill on Ch:2. That’s a constant. Following is our convoy order. Once again request all to be present well ahead of time and be deflated and ready to go at 7:00 am. This week I will not wait. EPPCO will be nearest but it won’t sell E98 so the Enoc or Adnoc near Outlet mall will be your go to fuel pump.
  8. @Ishak… They say if it’s worth doing. It’s worth over doing. Everyone is welcome. Let there be madness on DP Hill…
  9. @nithish468, @khlief, @Shahid Mehmood, @J-P L, @Waqaɾ, @Andrei S, @Alphin Aloor, @Frans M, @Gautam Banka, @Mahesh_, @Rob S, @azad, @Lala G Thank you all for joining this drive. In case anyone feel they are not able to make it please exit and do not be a no show. Please take some time to plan your time of arrival, nearest fuel station etc. Please make sure that you reach well in advance and are deflated to leave by 7:00 am. I would need everyone to be on highest concentration at DP Hill. It is a very technical area with very narrow passage and would not take kindly to any lapses of concentration. We must drive attentively and take a very deterministic approach. After DP Hill we will go towards Murquab. We would take a break on the top of the dune at Muquab overlooking our own Route 66. After Murquab, we will drive towards Faqa. The drive will again be filled with bushes and wide dunes but towards the end you may find some very nice clean technical areas to drive. Hopefully we will end our drive at Faqa in about 3 hours' time after we start, but it could very well take a bit more time. As you must have seen already the deserts of Dubai are turning green. There are hardly any places that are untouched with greenery. Pretty sure someone carpet bombed with seeds of various shrubs all over the place. So do expect a lot of bushes though out the drive. We will be tracing our way in the little bit sand that will be available for us.
  10. I will try to keep it to minimum. While Last year we drove towards Qudra Roundabout, I would want to go to Murquab followed by Faqa's wrong side. It could be slightly longer drive.
  11. DRIVE PLAN We did this drive last year same time, and once again repeating the drive. This Sunday, we will meet at Lisaili for a Technical Drive. We will drive towards Muquab for a surprise dune, that I had seen before thanks to @DP1011 for showing this to me, hence I am calling DP Hill. After that this year we will continue towards Faqa. It will be a green track with patches of sand in between. We request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities. 13. Yes of course, provided they are used to it. As it will be long bumpy ride unless the passenger also has been on the drive regularly, they could have upset tummy
  14. Additional fule won’t be necessary, but fill up before reaching the meeting point.
  15. It would be a slightly long drive. In the first part we will be driving what used to be some tall dunes in Faqa, we will find out how they are going to be. In the next part we will have a Baja-esq drive towards Qudra and will take a break before crossing a Sabkha. After we cross Sabkha we will find ourselves negotiating some technical terrain followed by some nice fast medium size dunes. Next we will cross another Sabkha to reach so called Little Sweihan. This area will be tall and technical and quite difficult area to navigate that will need our 100% undivided attention. in total expect to drive for approximately 80 km. We will be wading through the dunes in ch2 in the following convoy order: @Rk ram, @Ahmed Farouk, @Frans M, @Cesar Chacon, @Shahid Mehmood, @nithish468, @Sandeep Nayar, @azad, @khlief, @ChrisW, @Mahmut, @W a q a r, @Andrei S, @Mehmet Volga
  16. @Julian Patterson this is a fewbie plus drive so you would not be eligible to participate in the drive.
  17. DRIVE PLAN We will meet at a slightly distant place to start to drive, but we save ourselves the hardship of driving though all the bushes. From our favorite playground at Faqa'a we will go towards Little Swihan and end our Drive at Solar Park ~ 10:00 am or so.
