DRIVE DESCRIPTION The drives are for Fewbie Plus and above only as we believe at this level you are well aware of your car, your driving style in sync with your car for these drives to learn, challenge and improve albeit safely. Please watch out for the subsequent parts in coming weeks and join in as per your availability. We will be driving in the long range dunes as much as possible and finding paths to go over them. We will be taking the clean dunes behind the Nahel ADNOC station and eventually looking back Drive Time is expected to be 3.5 hours . Make sure you come with a full tank, Car in good conditions, recovery gear for this level (Radio, Flag, Deflator, Compressor, Kinetic rope and Soft shackles). Recovery points should be checked and in good conditions. It is preferable for the cars to have a front bash plate (6mm or more) to keep the radiator protected, if not, it is at your own risk to join. Riding the ridge to shift the momentum is essential for smooth crossover..

Trip report: We kicked off the drive with a delay from my side — I appreciate everyone’s patience at the meeting point and want to thank the team for holding back without a fuss. Much appreciated, truly. Once we rolled out, the convoy made its way toward the technical dunes, looping around a farm to align ourselves to the 24.8°N latitude. From there, the plan was simple: stay as straight as possible along the line leading us to the solar park roundabout. The terrain had its share of challenges — plenty of bushes, and some slip-face dunes that called for head-on climbs. Everyone handled these sections with solid control. A special shout-out to @J-P L who was exceptional in second lead — following my tracks with precision and handling his little Jimny like a champ. His driving gave the whole convoy great rhythm. @ChrisWheld the center line steady with calm consistency, and @anoopbrought up the rear with confidence, making sure everything stayed tight and in sync. The team formation was spot-on throughout. We had a minor pop-out incident from Sandeep, likely from a sharp steer on descent. Nothing major — it was quickly sorted with Chris stepping in to assist. Great teamwork. From there, we kept pushing forward, mostly in a straight line — cresting dunes, weaving through the brush, and keeping momentum without straying from the path. Some parts needed sharp focus and careful throttle work, and the team delivered. All in all, a great run. Latitude and longitude have been used in astronomy and navigation since ancient times. By calculating the angle between the horizon and a celestial object (usually the sun or the North Star), navigators could determine their approximate latitude using basic tools. We use Inbuilt GPS on our mobile devices or standalone dedicate GPS devices to find these coordinates and mark our positions / waypoints on a track. Our intention of the drive will be to follow the 24.8 degree latitude moving EAST to WEST ( Murquab to Qudra Solar Park) navigating the most technical patch of desert. Hi @Martin M, thanks for the note! Just to clarify — this drive is specifically for FB+ drivers preparing for Intermediate, so to join, you need to already be an FB+. Since you’re not yet promoted, I’ll have to ask you to take your time . Hope to have you in a future drive once you’re all set — you’re close, keep going! 😊 Hi @Alphin Aloor just checking in — last I see is your IM drive in Feb 2025. Have you done any drives with other convoys recently, especially in the past month? If yes, that’s great and you’re good to join. But if not, I’d recommend doing a lower-level drive first before joining this one — just to stay aligned and safe in the sand. Let me know!

Well done dune surfers! @Alexanderrr @Gautam Banka @Mahmut @Cristian @waqar @Brett Eicher @Beide Worku @Mario Cornejo @Ishak it was a beautiful morning with amazing drivers.. you drove impeccably with no stuck and I can remember only one refusal! The radio remained super silent.. with only confirmation of the convoy movement through the beautiful terrain. With a focussed briefing on safety , drive plan , As we started around 7 am, we had a minor issue with the Gautam’s Jeep electronics during lineup. It seemed that everything was ok in the next couple of minutes( it wasn’t) as we moved to the clean enticing dunes near the pac man farms. We kept riding the ridges as long as possible and switching over as frequently as we could. Around 2 hour mark, the electronic issue in the jeep resurfaced. It seems the car had the traction ON and was having difficulty climbing forcing us to quickly get to the long gatch / unpaved road towards sweihan. We tried a short incursion on the technical dunes to see if the problem resolved , however we found the jeep stuck on ledge of a tight bowl. We tried the old tested trick of cold reboot which worked well l and we had the car back to normal. with only about an hour left, we quickly moved towards Nagra dunes, hitting any and all ridges , slip faces, tall climbs , cross crossing our way as we reached a packed Nagra dune. After making a few climbs from the back, we moved over to the front steep face where everyone tried to scale the dune left right and center with all tricks and techniques they could. As we started to exit, it was a great to see end to end smile on everyone’s faces with the dose of adrenaline. Thanks @Alexanderrr for a brilliant 2nd lead..i seldom looked at my mirror. @Mario Cornejo sweep is where you seem most comfortable… it was an absolute pleasure to see you my friend! @Ishak for anchoring in the center and keep the convoy together. Highlight: It was chill to share a few cups of hot coffee and teas with stories from the past with the morning sun overlooking the mesmerizing terrain I throughly enjoyed leading you all and looking forward for many more!
