  1. Yes I do remember as I see that radio everyday😂.. I will get it fully charged..
  2. Dear desert expeditioners/ dune surfers! @Waqas Parvez @ASAD. @Vaibhav @Sunil Mathew @Anoop Nair @munkybizness @Santoso Marjuki @Mario Cornejo @Imran Kashif @Gaurav @Dodi Syahdar @Pacific@Ranjan Das welcome to the Liwa Expeditionary Adventure Drive “LEAD” ! We are all looking forward for this weekend with utmost excitement in anticipation of the thrilling adventure ahead! Please ensure that your mean machines are in top condition with any known issues sorted out and tested. I advise you all to be properly rested with sound physical and mental preparedness for this drive. Hence i suggested to avoid long drive on Saturday morning from Dubai to meeting point. i am planning to reach the starting point around 5 pm (while we still have daylight) on Friday and then find a suitable camping spot. Hi Anoop, I believe that you would be joining the drive..
  3. Typical age of rubber until it starts degrading is about 5-7 years depending on how well it is stored.. spares kept outside the car.. underneath the chassis or hung on the boot door tends to degrade faster even if they are protected from direct sunlight (UV). They may seem good from an outside view but tend to be degraded inside.. i once used a spare wheel after about 5 years and in about 500 kms the cracks started to appear on the shoulder
  4. Trip Report : Convoy 2: It is really amazing to see so many enthusiastic new faces line up together to what was eventually a beautiful morning drive. we started with meet and greet followed with the briefing; highlighting and reiterating the basics of communications, convoy discipline and key aspects of driving on sand. You will get to listen this on every drive no matter what level you drive as this brings the safety at the forefront of any activity. with the convoy in order and flags up with deflated tires and egos, we made our way hoping from one dune to the next with no stuck or refusals for the first 30 minutes. I was raising the difficulty level in sections doing some steep climbs , riding long blunt ridges and patches of technical terrain and convoy responded with minor stucks and refusals which are all part of the learning. the support team got couple of chances to have some workout shoveling a wrangler stuck on crest and pop out of another wrangler. @FARAZ MOHAMMED you did very well as 2nd lead. It is very important to maintain the right distance so as to follow the tracks and maneuver while being prepared to move left or right or stop on track as directed. well done buddy! @Sachith Jagannath was a no Show. hope to see you next time. its advisable to inform on the forum incase you are unable to join the drive as it allows the next waitlisted driver to get in the drive. @Rashid Alseeni excellent driving the heavy weight with ease. u did well. @Juan R @Stan ,@MohamedSherifits important to understand the power of the car and the requirement from the terrain. you guys did very well! @fayez as we discussed during the pop out fixing break, Fishtailing, as fancy as it may look to the outside viewer, is not the best of moves you want your car to be in. You need to practice pedal control along with steering control to ensure that the tracks don't get churned up to much and that you have control over your cars moving direction. @Nadeem Ansari we all have had that one drive during our newbie levels where things don't happen as we expect them to be. There drives are the most important ones to learn about your car dynamics and how much gas is too much or too little. i liked your determination and willingness to learn.. well done! @Ron.P i am sure you enjoyed the drive as i had no recollection of your voice on the radio. @Nathan when driving in a convoy, always believe in the fact that every car can make it over the dunes since the every car ahead of you made it through. Trust yourself that you can do it too. you may have to take a little bit right or left of the track depending on how long and heavy is your car, and this is precisely why we drive every week to develop the understanding. on a side note have you fixed the issue with air bags on your car? Thank you @Simon D and @Dodi Syahdar for amazing support in center and sweep and in executing demonstration maneuvers with ease. Thankyou all for joining and hope to see you again on sand!
  5. Trip Report: Better late than never. Watching the sunrise during the "Winter" days in UAE have become an Addiction for me and it is a different feel sharing this happy moments with likeminded individuals. Thank you @Tharun Kumar V @premindra rajaram @Pranjal Varsani1 @Krishna R @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler for joining and being on time. We had a quick briefing and headed straight to the dunes riding small ridges, side sloping to find our way to a nice dune as the color of the sky changed from dark to light pink/amber. This was a warmup where i pushed you guys on some serious maneuvers where each one drive brilliant. 30 mins into the drive, thanks to @premindra rajaram getting stuck on ridge, we got the perfect place to put our cars on the slope and enjoy the sunrise with some hot "Halwa" (that was amazing surprise Deepak!!) and coffee giving time to discuss aspects of Ridge riding and the safe ways of tackling the slopes. We then made our way towards the long range of Lisaili dunes and saw amazing view of Hot air Balloons within distance hovering so close the ground. we decided to chase them out and soon we were near the landing zone with some withing arms distance from our convoy. It was amazing to experience the blend of Man & Machine working in harmony to help you experience Nature in its best moments. Around 8:15 am we decided to take the exit route through a small patch of what turned out to be the longest part of the drive. as we were moving though last 100 meters close to the exit, we had Deepak caught up in crest unable to move. Pranjal stayed with him as the first 4 cars came out of the technical area. I decided to go back and check on the situation and found Him crested sideways and Pranjal ready to give him a tug. As soon as he moved , he got stuck on the a slip face and then burried deep ( his low gear apparently was not engaged). i then moved my car to get Pranjal out and voila! we had our third car stuck!!( myself). The small area looked firm but had some nasty surprise for us. After few minutes of self recovery attempts to no avail. i called Krishna and Tharun back to our position to plan the recovery of the three cars. its amazing @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler that we used 1 ,2 and 3 ropes for getting first you, then my car and then pranjal out! good learning for all of us and some brilliant teamwork. Thanks @Tharun Kumar V for a brilliant 2nd lead and thanks @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler to join at the last hour and sweep the convoy safely. you all drove good , taking some very important learning out of the drive ( including myself). See you all soon in sand!
