Emanuel has been promoted to Advisor level
Emanuel replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Brilliant! Thank you very much for digging this photo out of the archives and for digging me out (quite literally) many times before. I remember that moment clearly. Ah, the White Rhino, she is a beauty. Truly feeling blessed this worked out this way. 🙏 We all have our journey and @Mike M.'s passion is research, sourcing, and customisations. He takes a lot of pride in his works of art. I was dreading planning all that with my first Pajero and the White Rhino ticked all the boxes and more. Thanks Ben. Looking forward to driving with you again soon. -

Thank you Deepak, always a pleasure to drive with you my friend. Seems like the three of us have solid Support Team spirit and will try to time our 100th drive together rather than make it a competition. Let's see if the desert gods will be in favor of this timing goal. -

Thank you @Jose Luis Campos. Your own journey is coming evident with more confidence and ability. See you soon. Thank you @Davie Smooth_Operator. Being on your drives, and later on as your Second Lead, helped me learn a lot. I clearly remember that one pocket you had to get me out of, 3 times in a row. Thank you for your patience on that one and countless others. 😀 -

Thank you so much for the warm congratulations on my promotion to Advisor level! 🌟 I am incredibly grateful to all the marshals who have contributed to my learning, growth, and development over the years. Special thanks to @Gaurav, @Islam Soliman, @Frederic, @Vanessa8580, @Looper, @Simon D, @Ale Vallecchi, @JeromeFJ, @DP1011, and @Davie Smooth_Operator and several others over the years who have been instrumental in my journey. Your guidance and support have been invaluable. 🙏 I look forward to paying it forward even more in the coming months and years, helping others learn and grow along the way. Thank you in advance to everyone who will help me grow into a convoy lead through the new experiences we will share together. 🚗💨 Carnity is an amazing multi-cultural offroad club with great leadership, passionate about creating a safe environment for us to learn how to drive in the desert. This club has given us the confidence and experience to progress along our journeys, whatever our goals may have been. 🌍🏜️ See you on the sands soon! Thanks buddy. Looking forward to driving with you again soon! Thanks @Luke K P. It would be truly a memorable and a monumental feat of coordination for @Ishak, you and me to drive 100 together. I don't think there is a middle eastern version of the three musketeers though we could come up some really cool legend ourselves. -

Emanuel replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Congratulations @Ishak. It has been a pleasure driving with you as we progressed. Though most notably recently, working together as a team supporting a variety of drives together. We've had many learnings and experiences along the way and I'm fired up about our Leaders Lead training sessions in June. Looking forward to our next learning and our leading experiences together. Maybe if the 'desert gods' (first heard this saying from @Frederic) allow, the three of us will drive our 100th drive together. @Luke K P -

You're quite creative (a MacGyver of sorts) at finding field solutions to problems. Like using the GoPro suction cup mount last weekend to put up a flag for a new joiner that didn't have one. -

Well deserved @Mei ling. I saw a very nice difference in confidence and ability from this past weekend drive as compared to a few weekends ago. Very good approaches, speed and control on the side slopes, ridges, and cross-overs. Keep up the learning and have fun. -

FYI Pajero owners with TPMS sensors. These provided a spanner in the works so to speak. As it turns out, the Pajero TPMS sensors are clip onto to the valve stem and cannot be attached to the Apex deflator and the special adaptor that they also sell won't work because it is a screw based design. It could be possible to not attach the sensors and live with a permanent warning light for the TPMS system warning. Disabling it in the computer apparently is also very had to do. In the end, I decided not to do this and will continue to unscrew the valve to deflate. Also very fast and no additional cost. If anyone has an alternative solution, I'd love to hear about it.

Hey everyone, Yesterday's newbie desert drive in the Faqa area of Dubai was a fantastic experience! Everyone showed up on time for the briefing, and we kicked off the drive smoothly. We encountered only a few refusals and second attempts, and just two stucks that required some shoveling. @saumik1989 had a notable stuck, which I unfortunately missed. From what I heard, it seemed like he didn't have enough momentum and got caught in a tricky patch of soft sand. As for me, I had to give the White Rhino a short break and spray water on the transmission radiator due to an overheat. Thankfully, this didn't delay the convoy since we were playing on a larger dune at the time. Pajeros are prone to overheating in the summer, and I should have been driving in Tiptronic mode instead of D—a valuable tip Vanessa gave me about three years ago. @lucas amat managed to self-recover with a bit of help after what appeared to be a misjudge of the angle onto a ridge and planting the front of his Jeep into a big bush. @Vanessa8580 also had a minor incident, planting the front of her Xterra into another bush while navigating a small but steep dune. All great early learning opportunities. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable drive. A big thank you to our marshal, @Vanessa8580, @JeromeFJ in sweep, and @lucas amat in second lead. It was great meeting all the new drivers, and I'm looking forward to driving with you all again soon. Cheers!

Which Off-Road Car Stands Out in Carnity?

For me, I've always liked @Gurcharan Mehta's Rubicon 392 a lot and then I saw @Dodi Syahdar's Bronco Raptor. That is my vote. -

This sounds like a great setup. How did you do the wiring and is yours a twin cylinder? -
Which Off-Road Car Stands Out in Carnity?
Emanuel replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
@Mike M. poured his heart and sole into the White Rhino. Much of his research are now artifacts of record in our forums for countless others, including myself, to learn from. I am honored to be the custodian of the WR and to share new developments from time to time. -
Off-Road Fewbie Drive to Pink Rock: Mind the Gap A huge thank you to @DP1011 for an incredible drive and route, and to @Shiju Raju for sweeping. Kudos to everyone for driving exceptionally well, especially through the soft patches! Our off-road adventure began at one of our usual starting points in Tawi Nazwa for Pink Rock and Big Red drives, taking us through the mesmerizing dunes to Pink Rock. The reddish sand and challenging dunes set the stage for an exhilarating ride. From there, we headed towards the iconic Big Red, where the real fun began. On top of Big Red, we enjoyed playing around and tackling some big climbs. There were a few refusals, but most were resolved with good self-recoveries and second attempts. We even lent a hand to some dune buggy off-roaders who got stuck, using our shovels to dig them out. At the very end of the drive, we had one vehicle stuck. Despite deflating to 8 psi, it didn't budge, and @DP1011 had to give him a tug. The drive was filled with ridge riding, side sloping, and plenty of crisscrossing at a fast pace. A theme for the drive soon emerged: Mind the Gap. Some drivers had difficulty maintaining a good gap between cars. Here are some tips for keeping a safe distance: Look Ahead: Keep an eye on the distance between your car and the one in front, especially if the driver is more experienced. Watch for Difficult Areas: When you see cars ahead on challenging spots like ridges, ensure they are clear or mostly clear before proceeding. Develop Instincts: Maintaining a good distance is a combination of art and science. You'll develop instincts for keeping the right gap on flat patches, tight technical dunes, hill climbs, and ridges. Remember, maintaining a good gap ensures safety and smooth progress for everyone. Happy off-roading! 🚙

Very strange that my tie rod snapped. It was the drivers side this time. Last month with Davie the passenger side tie rod snapped. Both times coming off a small dune about 2m in height to the left on the downward path and then a gradual turn to the right at the bottom. Neither turn was aggressive nor hard on the leveling out at the bottom. My mechanic, a three time Pajero owner, never heard of this before. After checking the suspension it is a mystery why this happened both times so close to each other timing wise. Perhaps wear and tear and or manufacturing defect.
