POST DRIVE REPORT Thank you everyone for arriving early and being ready for our briefing at 6 am. We welcomed our newest Carnity community members - @jamil abdollah, @Maneesh M, and @Cova. From our discussions yesterday and your posts above, it seems like you all enjoyed yourselves. Indeed, there were plenty of learnings for Maneesh and Cova. We successfully made our way through our planned route starting at Three Trees, making our way northwards through some nice sloping dunes to get everyone used to driving in sand with some skill building along the way. We had a break on the sabkha before making our way to Qudra Secret Dunes. Always a fun place to have some fun. We had to exit Maneesh about 3 hours into the drive because he was down to 1/4 tank of fuel. We re-entered after ensuring he was ok reinflating. After about another 40 minutes we made our way to the exit point, on time. Maneesh had the pleasure of trying to figure out how to drive this hybrid in varying sand conditions. Vanessa and I had some learnings around this too. @Maneesh M it will be especially important for you to ensure you fill up completely at the nearest petrol station to the meeting point so you don't have to exit early on our drives like today. As you progress in drive levels, you will use more petrol as these are increasingly more difficult drives and harder on the cars requiring more petrol. A jerry can may also be a good idea in future. Cova had the experience of driving with his car with limited electrics turned off and then during one of the recoveries we removed the relay. It's important to remove it when the engine is off and to put it back in when it is off as well. It will reset all the warning lights after you do this. Check out Fred's post about this. Thanks a mil to @Vanessa8580 in Sweep and @Yerem Davtyan in Second Lead. Vanessa assisted with many of the stucks and refusals. The drive was a far better experience for everyone as a result of her assistance and support. Yerem's winch, first time use, was a key contributor to getting Maneesh out from a soft mucky patch. @jamil abdollah your previous experience driving in the desert and with your car really showed. You will enjoy the next level more in just a few more Newbie drives. Your quick offers to help during refusals and stucks was very much appreciated. Thank you. It was good to see you again @Khalid Sharaf and good to meet you @Kishor. You both drove well. Our track is below. Having completed 53 kms for a Newbie drive is pretty good actually considering we had some very new desert drivers with us. From the elevation profile, we can remember the nice rolling dunes we had along with our hill climbs. Have a great weekend everyone and see you next time.

I'll need confirmation that your vehicle has front and rear tow hooks / recovery points, you have a tire deflator, pressure gauge, compressor, programmable radio and safety flag. These are mandatory. We managed to cover about 30 kms which is good considering it was a Newbie drive and the terrain. Looking at the elevation profile it is evident we had some good variation and small hill climbs throughout.

Post Drive Report We had a wonderful drive yesterday morning. Thank you everyone for showing up on time and ready for briefing at 6 am; however, one driver showed up at the wrong meeting point for Lisali. He joined us there shortly after. It's important to check the full drive post and location. We set off at about 6:30 am heading into the desert via the community road and camel track. After entering the desert we reset the spacing between some of the cars up front which was mostly maintained during the drive. We headed east as planned with some challenges to practice new skills with some of our newer drivers. The dunes got progressively taller and longer with patches of soft sand to add into the mix. There were many learning opportunities for both a few drivers and for our support team members, thank you! These opportunities are what contributes to newer driver confidence and skill building and helps support team members eventually become great drive leads. We didn't go as far south as planned though we did complete the loop and exit at one of the two planned locations and on time. Overall, considering the convoy members and the challenges we faced, you all drove really well. A big shout out to @Andrei S and @J-P L for supporting the drive. You were both pretty busy with stucks, refusals and one pop-out. Thanks @khurramm for being second lead. @Richard Jowett I'll be removing you from the drive this morning though I'm glad you were able to drive with @Chris Meir and get a good taste of what's to come. Sounds like all your car issues will be sorted for the next drive. Nonetheless, welcome to Carnity. Also a warm welcome to @Khalid Sharaf to Carnity and your first drive. Your previous experience was helpful. Would love to hear your feedback on your first drive with us and how it went for you. It was good to meet you @Jakob T. Overall you drove well though you were initially having challenges with low lines and hesitation on the side approaches. I have no doubt with another drive or two you will find the sweet spot to nail those. Keep it up please. It was good to meet you also @Asif Ahamed, @Avilash and @Chris Meir. Please check all the links and the new comer video at the top of page 1 of this drive post. There is a link there for Flap pole requirements. At this hour before the drive in the morning, you'll likely only be able to get a suction cup mount one. These are generally unreliable and typically fall off. Although some members manage to get good ones and get a good technique to keep them on even during more advanced drives.
