  1. Hello @Ale Vallecchi Greetings! I will be bringing the xterra for the drive. In fact, I won't be using the Infiniti for off roading anymore, so il remove it from my profile. Apologies for the confusion. Looking forward to the drive. Regards Krishna
  2. Thank you @Hisham Masaadfor adding me to the drive. I will be driving an xterra. Looking forward to driving with you after a long time 🙂
  3. It didn't know that am a newbie. Must have recognized the car and was like I need to give a route that suits the car's reputation 😅
  4. Thank you for starting this thread @Karthik Raptor. so last night, I clicked on the link from the post thread and checked the destination - it was correct. However, when I was on the way, Google maps showed a "faster route available" and once I clicked that, the ETA was cut down by 10 mins and it started taking me inside the desert. After about 700 metres driving in soft sand, I could see big dunes coming up. Stopped the car and called @Chaitanya D and he sent a Location on WhatsApp which was 38 kms away. Thank you guys for waiting for me but as @Karthik Raptormentioned, it wasn't a great experience to get started on a rush. I wasn't deflated properly due to the rush. I was running on soft suspension until someone got stuck so I had to time to fix my suspensions and off-road lights. And you know about my radio 😀.
  5. Hello Doc @Chaitanya DI have had this car for sometime now and i went for a drive last weekend with @Islam Soliman. Completed the drive with 0 stucks and 2 refusals I am comfortable and confident with the car and would love to join the drive. The car has extra lights as well for night drives, if it helps my case
  6. @Chaitanya DHello Doc. Just wanted to inform you that, in case I get shortlisted for the drive, I will be bringing an Xterra. All prerequisites are confirmed - tow hooks, clearance, shovel radio etc Looking forward
  7. @Islam Soliman I will be bringing an Xterra 2010 Red, not my Infiniti. It has all the prerequisites - tow hooks, clearance, flag, radio, shovel etc Looking forward!
  8. Hello team, My apologies. Will not be able to join due to an unforeseen emergency
  9. @Gaurav SoniI am on WL for the afternoon drive. looks like I might not be able to get in. Do you have an extra slot for this drive?
  10. Thank you @Ale Vallecchi for the invite, however I am forced to opt out due to a hectic work schedule tomorrow. My apologies!
  11. @Mark D I have been going to hi way auto wash in Jebel Ali for the last couple of years. 52 aed for full body wash ( lifting the car and underneath as well) I tip the washing guy 10 aed and he cleans the engine bay with some chemical. Makes it look brand new. I am a regular client so after my desert drive, I first go to the detailing station, open the hood and get it blown by compressed air, nooks and corners in the engine bay, clean the air filter with compressed air and then to the washing station. Not crowded. 30 mins in and out. Really good for 50 bucks. I also make sure they remove all my off roading equipment, clean the interior thoroughly and keep everything back. The quality of the wash is much better than the wash in the fuel station. Hi Way Auto Service https://maps.app.goo.gl/VoD2bZGuvCz2US5y8 The Google pin is correct but the directions is wrong. You need to take the exit from szr not from discovery gardens/furjan. Call them for directions
  12. Hello fellow drivers, It was a very different drive this time by @Brette This drive was in stark contrast to the previous tawi nazwa drive. There were quite a few surprises and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly, the fog was a bummer but we had some really interesting conversations during the wait Just when we started to move, my car had to popout and it was quite a difficult one to fix. @Looperand @Brette would agree? After the fog wait and my popout, the pace increased on our way towards the big red. Then came the surprise soft patch near pink rock. It was fun to watch everyone struggling to hold traction and finally we settled on a flat spot getting ready for the climb to big red. The climb to big red - OMG. I thought I had signed up for a fewbie plus drive It was massive fun but quickly learnt that when the convoy is stopped, its easy to get stuck if you're not careful. @Looper kept repeating to maintain the distance between cars and hold momentum, but I lost concentration for a split second and found myself in a nice soft bowl with one wheel up in the air. Simultaneously THREE cars had a popout somewhere on the other side of the dune. @Looper stayed behind to help me and a crazy amount of shoveling, tugging from different directions couldn't get me out then @Brette came to the rescue, tugged me out and went back to fix the popped out tires at the front of the convoy. Luckily, as @Looper said, the temperatures were bearable and we could see the other side of desert driving, first hand. The not so glamorous side, the hard work part of things - Fixing popouts, self recovery, shoveling at the right place, Stopping at the right place (mainly) etc and we have a lot of fun filled banter as fellow drivers. All in all, This was the most physically exhausting drive for me and others would agree as well. @Brette Your calm and composed attitude in tight situations is amazing. Also, I could see your expertise when you fixed my popout and also when tugging me out from behind. All said and done, I would gladly do it again in a heartbeat and looking forward to driving more with @Bretteand @Looper. @LooperI have finalized a few Off-road rims and A/T tires. Should be on before this weekend's drive. I think @Looper is going to look out for the drives I join and avoid them Until next weekend guys!
