  2. @PaoloMaraziti I have seen cases where the edge of the tire must be pulled to make it sit on the wheel beads. A set of tyre spoons/levers are useful in such situations. Depending on the reason for the pop-out, the rim may have bent air starts to leak through, making it a more challenging scenario.
  3. @Islam Soliman and @Srikumar thank you both for organizing and leading the convoys today. It was a fun drive, we managed to cover a good distance above 50 Km. Thanks to everyone else in Convoy 2, we had a good pace and managed to play in some areas in the route. Here is a short clip of a loop taken from the left side of Iftar bowl while following @Abu Muhammad and @Dodi Syahdar: Wish you all a good week ahead.
  4. If reached, the compression limit of the bump stop, wouldn't this become a cause of concern for other issues apart from the tire rubbing a fender? For example: risk of bending axles, damaging shocks? Seems as if bump stops are sometimes overlooked as an integral part of the suspension and by doing a quick search there seem to be interesting options, including hydraulic bump stops. Any views? Hope this is not deviating too much from the original topic raised by Anish.
  5. This is for Jeeps, but I thought would be of your interest @Anish S, how to measure bump stop length: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/how-measure-bump-stop-length-332213/
  6. @Islam Soliman - thank you for having us all in today's drive, it was fun and as you stated in your closing remarks this morning, we had a bit of almost everything and, in spite of the challenges the terrain threw at us, everyone did amazingly well. @Hisham Masaad and @Mehmet Volga thank you for the support throughout the drive and many thanks to all those in the convoy, it was nice to meet and drive with you all. Wish you all a nice rest of the weekend. Stay safe and see you soon on the sand, inshallah!
  7. @Christopher Assal I decided to install a Kill Switch in my car (Nissan Patrol Y61) because: - ABS would kick in frequently, for example when stopping to maintain distance with the car in front, to avoid an obstacle, when crossing over a crest and heading down a slope, etc. This scenario led many times to a situation where the ABS light would remain on for a long period even after the drive. - I used to pull out the ABS fuse, but this would disable the VDC switch, the speedometer and the odometer. The mechanic who installed the Kill Switch did it in a way that disables ABS only and would not affect the other gauges, he also checked there were no diagnostic trouble codes. The VDC is something I can control in my car, I feel the car runs better when I disable it, and I only enable it if I am attempting recovery from a stuck in 4H. In the Patrol when you engage 4L and Diff Lock then ABS and VDC will be disabled by default. The only fuse I remove is the airbag fuse, because I've heard of cases where the airbag could deploy if there is a frontal hit, and I've had quite a few already during drives. **Edit: a few frontal hits on the area where the bash plate is mounted 😅, usually the result of a miscalculation, speed, or wrong reading of terrain. My recommendation is you try, in your next drive, removing the ABS fuse and assess the performance of your car and if there is any effect in the speedometer and odometer, also check what light indicators turn on the dashboard when you disconnect the fuse and when you engage 4L. Depending on what you observe then you take a call whether to install or not a kill switch. Hope this helps!
  8. Hi @Islam Soliman - A space became available and I have RSVP'd. Looking forward to the drive.
  9. What I tend to do is, on every moment the convoy stops, open the hood. So far I've not experienced overheating in my Patrol Y61, but have felt tempted to investigate any of the following: extra fans and a racing thermostat (https://www.amazon.ae/Nippon-Racing-Thermostat-Nissan-TB48/dp/B07YNVLCRT) The Patrol Y61 doesn't have a digital gauge, so I just keep an eye on the needle, if it gets closer to the middle then I don't push it too much.
  10. @Wrangeld, thank you for hosting us all in today's drive form Murquab to Last Exit. It was a pleasure to drive with everyone in the convoy. We had a fluid trip, thanks to a combination of multiple factors, as you point out everyone did well and the incredible support of CF @Veedooshee and Sweep @Islam Soliman, both assisting recoveries and ensuring the long convoy kept moving ahead. Also a big thank you for providing advice and sharing knowledge with everyone. I could notice that the radio went silent in various occasions, which I am sure is because everyone was focused as well as enjoying the drive and scenery around us. Kudos to @Shehab Alawadhi in the 2nd lead position, and also to @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ and @Arman who were there to help as and when required. Until we meet next time, stay safe, drive safe. Have a great weekend! PS. I've left a few pictures in the gallery.
