  1. @Lorenzo CandelpergherI had the 275/60R20 before and switched them to the 285/70R17 almost same size as stock 33". And Yess there is a 17" wheel that fit the Y62, and that is from Braid. Pretty expensive but really the difference they make is huge at least when going down from 20", the BFGoodrich ko2 tires have an amazing traction on sand, but bit noisy on speeds above 110, not much but noticeable. @Rawad Bahsasthanks for the tip.
  2. Thanks @Lorenzo Candelpergherfor arranging a midweek drive, it was pleassure driving with you. I just noticed you tagged another Lawrence😂, didn't know we have someone in the group with same name and veeery close matching family name😳. I'm sorry to hear what happened to your beast, hope it gets back on tracks really soon. Managing such a car is reallu a pleasure. When we had the first popout today, I switched off my car but forgot to disingage the traction control after starting it again🤦🏻‍♂️ I was feeling the car a bit sluggish and only knew what's going on after we crossed that steep climb in which you said "keep pushing keep pushing" I was actually flooring it but the car was losing power... I guess I would have noticed it immediately if I had my old street tires.. Something I need to be careful about next time... @Islam Solimanyou did great today leading the convoy. See you soon on Sand.
  3. I think you lost some tire pressure at second 12-13 when you made a sharp right turn not sure if you were fishtailing there. Few seconds later you had a popout as you were running low on pressure. In my first drives I was sometimes losing pressure on such turns where it drops instantly from 15 to 8 psi.
  4. @Lakshmi NarasimhanAs for the warranty, from what I heard they try to find any reason to void your warranty in case you encounter any electrical faults in future. Even if you do a lift kit, the agency will void the warranty on your upper/lower arms, axles and transfer case.. (that is something I recently read on one of the forums)
  5. @Lakshmi Narasimhan, my question is do you really need all that much of light? I don't believe you might need them unless you are going on an extreme night drive and not sure if they are necessary. I'm currently running 2 high quality Leds installed on front of the bumper, they provide high lumens and consume less amps than the OEM halogen fog lights. And honestly I don't feel i need much more. My next upgrade will be swapping the combo lenses with Flood lenses for the installed Baja lights and add another Baja spot LED bar with 12000 lumens and I guess that is more than enough, unless you are tending to race at night. With the above setup you won't really need any upgrade to your alternator or battery. As for my night trips/ camping with the family or friends, I have a 500W LED light bought from the gas station and that gives some good light, and i connect it to a separate power bank that i charge at home. I don't want to connect it to my car's battery as it will drain it out unless i keep my engine running.
  6. Honestly, I won't install a battery inside the cabin of my car . there are plenty of hazards involved which many people ignore. If installed correctly the chances of catching fire or exploding are less but more importantly the toxic fumes that come from the battery in which you and your passengers will be inhaling.
  7. @Lakshmi Narasimhan, i follow some Facebook pages where they do modifications for the Y62s below is an example they are adding to the Patrols.(if money is not an issue) , below image for example is a 110 Ah lithium battery with built in power management system, and that is 11kg only. Not sure if you can find something similar in Dubai for your car.
  8. Do you have warranty on your car? If yes I wouldn't touch any of the electricals on the car...
  9. @Gaurav, i just called a friend who owns one and been part of a team who used to rally with modified Y62s, he said that the force on the bolts of the pintle hook is tension force which is much weaker than a shear force that happens on normal recovery point. The other thing is that when extra pull force is put on the rear cross member it tends to stretch out and will pull the ladders towards the inside, this is a scenario that they encountered in one of the recoveries. He advised me not to use that pintle hook in tough recoveries...
  10. @Gaurav, you are right, just opened a drawing of the y62 chassis, there is actually no rear crash bar. It is as you said, the hook is connected directly to the rear cross member that is welded to the ladder frame. Thanks for correcting me, now I can use that pintle hook with more confidence as I was always scared from bending it.
  11. @Gauravthat's what I read somewhere on the pintle hook on the Y62. But again not everything we read online is correct.. I will be modifying my rear bumper soon, once I take it out I will have a look on where that hook is attached to.
  12. @Tareck, @Frederic that hook in the back is meant for towing of max 3.5Tons but still can be used in easy recoveries. That point is connected to the crash bar, i've heard it gets bent in some hard recoveries. However, there is a recovery point on the rear left side (opposite to the exhaust side) and is connected with 5 bolts to the chassis, based on the user manual, it shall be used as a recovery point.
  13. @Thomas Vargheseas you mentioned, the problem with these halogen lights is their size and current draw. A 100W halogen bulb will give you around 1000-1400 lumens, where as a very small LED light like a Baja squadron sport will give you around 3200 lumens at 25W, and their size is smaller than the installed OEM fog lights.. But they aren't cheap. You can also get a small 10" LED Bar from Baja that will give you 12000 lumens.. Not sure about other brands but I know that Baja designs are one of the best.
  14. Hello everyone, Is there a way I can view the list of drives I joined so far? Can't recall if I already joined 9 or 10 drives after my the fewbie promotion..
  15. @Kailasthat was a very interesting drive thank you. @Ahab ShamaaI hope you your car is now sorted. See you on sand soon.
  16. @Thomas Varghese, when I recently replaced my tires I also noticed some sand inside, that explained why I was losing pressure slowly especially when I deflate the tires.
  17. @Kailas, thank you for the amazing drive, the area didn't have much technical terrain and we got the chance to practice a lot criss-crossing, ridge riding and side sloping. @Hisham Masaad, I guess what we were doing wrong yesterday is engaging the Rear Locker and disabling the Traction control. "In order to activate A-TRAC, you must first put your vehicle in neutral, shift into 4LO and press the “A-TRAC” button". You need the traction control to be activated in order for the system to work ( Traction light should be off), and only A-trac should be luminating on the dashboard, in this case the traction control will send power to the wheel that has traction..
  18. Thanks @Luca Palanca Falsini, it was an amazing drive. Yeah the new wheels and tires felt much more comfortable and gave more traction but I lost some of the ground clearance, before I used to reach the top of the crest and the car's bed will slightly touch and then crosses easily, but today when using the same momentum I used before, the car was touching much more and getting stuck.. Also thank you everybody for helping me shovel when I crested. @Shehab Alawadhitoday I was trying to discover my new tires to know how much I need to push and find the perfect balance. The refusals helped me almost reach that point. Thanks for the tugs and for your help. Looking forward for the next drive.
  19. Sounds very exciting, I also can't wait to try the new shoes on my Y62. Changed my 20" wheels to 17" Braid, street H/T tires to Bfg Ko2.. So expecting to see some gain( hopefully😃)
  20. Searching online, seems that some people are adding the unichip piggyback in which you can have a mode that limits your engine's rpm to 5200 and thus your trans will not upshit.
