  1. For any type of off road driving in the UAE you need to reduce your 4x4 tire pressure. For mountains and wadi it's easy to reduce between 20-25 PSI irrespective of the tire brand, shape, type and load. For sand the tire pressure deflation is little bit tricky and if you follow below steps, you can decode this better. Before that you also need to understand that why deflation for off road driving is so important: Deflated tires are hard to sink in or dig in the sand due to lesser resistance. Deflated tires increase the sand flotation to reduce the load on Engine, 4x4 and Transmission. By deflating tire pressure you increase the footprint, that help you stabilize & offer better directional control. Image shows the two tires track: One with 35 PSI (left) and other with 12 PSI (right). Finding a perfect tire pressure for off road driving for your specific tire and 4x4 is based on bit of learning and experiments. Of course the lower the tire pressure better it is for dune bashing, climbing and self recoveries but too low is also dangerous for popping the tire out of its wheel. You can follow the below chart, if you are totally new to off road driving as an indication (ONLY). If you have a pop out on normal driving, then increase 1 PSI next time to find the best tire pressure for your 4x4. If your 4x4 is Long Wheel Base (LWB) with full load then increase 1-2 PSI more than below indications. For knowing how to deflate the tires, please speak to any of the Marshal or senior member to show you how its done properly. There are more than a couple of ways and tools off-roaders use to deflate depending on their choices. All tools, ways and method are correct as far as you achieve the correct tire pressure. If you are new to offroading, I highly suggest to double check the tire pressure twice once you are done. Borrow the fellow offroader tire pressure gauge and check again, as many times your new gauge might go wonky and give false readings. Once you are 100% sure that your gauge is correct always, then you are fine to rely on your own readings. PLEASE DON'T DEFLATE WITH KEY AND STOPWATCH AND ASSUME IT'S 14 PSI. Secondly, always check / adjust tire pressure again after 30 minutes of sand driving as it might increase due to the heat and stress. If you are facing constant refusal at the beginning of any drive, I bet your 14 PSI has shot up to 18 PSI and you need to reduce the tire pressure more to bring it down to 14 PSI. This happens on almost every newbie drive, so it's fine and proven gazillions of time.

  3. The modified car, the never ending story, the money pit. Anyway, I have ordered wheels with the correct offset from Europe and they arriving soon. I already have tires for them. I am looking for a reliable wheel balance/ alignment fitting garage, preferably south of Dubai. A shop that knows what they are doing with lifted suv’s. Please let me know. To come back to wheels with correct offset. What I don’t understand from our region. We have maybe the most LC200S driving around than anywhere. The lc200 comes with a positive offset of 60mm. Almost all shops they have only wheels with 0 offset. When I ask them if they have wheels with positive offset, they ask me again why I want positive offset. Because I want something that works? And not only look good, without chopping here and there??? So thats why ordered wheels abroad.

Set of 4 used: Once Vehicle used: Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8 Number of years used: 3+ Years Value for money: 5 / 5 On-road comfort: 5 / 5 Off-road performance: 4 / 5 Overall Performance: 4 / 5 So it was time to go for a new set of tires for my wife's Mitsubishi Pajero and after a lot of research was in a lot of turmoil whether I should go for the Nitto Duragrapplers as tried and tested or a set of Kumho Solus KL21. Put the options to my wife and with the price point, she immediately jumped at the Kumho Solus KL21 set. I obeyed my wife and asked them to slap the Kumhos on, but deep inside I was waiting for them to fail and never thought that 3 years down the road and I would be writing a positive review on these. Kumho tires are a Korean brand and made in Korea so it makes you think twice about your investment. I drove them now for 3 years mostly on road except for a couple of occasions when I took them off-road in the sand for a short stint and here is what I think about the Kumho Solus KL21. On road they are really quiet and offer a very comfortable ride, they have a good grip on the road in all weather conditions and so far I have not seen any inconsistent ware in these tires. They have been on for 3 years with almost 70K Kms on the clock and I recently got them inspected, they always remained very smooth and quiet on-road and I now feel confident having them on as the tire shop told me there is quite a bit of tread left on them and no cracks at all. My main concern, however, came how it does perform off-road being a highway terrain tire? The honest truth is, being my wife's car I hardly took it off-road, but for what it is worth it performed well for a couple of short stints I was talking about earlier. The straight threads of a highway terrain help them float better in the sands, and they seem light (which is a big positive mark from the off-road side for stock cars). They have served me very well for over 70,000 kms so far and I am very pleased with their overall performance. They are still smooth, quiet and comfortable on-road even at 140 kmph and gives you good control with different maneuvers. In conclusion, I would only like to say, these are my first set of Kumho Solus KL21 on my wife's Mitsubishi Pajero and although I was not sold on these at the time of purchase these have most definitely impressed me. I am very happy to own the current set and feeling relieved that my wife had made such a great investment for the past 3 years and the remainder of the time to come. At the price point, they are very good performer on-road and very good value for money.

  7. Hi guys, I wanted to know if someone has experience in installing snow/winters tires, yes I have moved to Canada so expecting much ice and snow here. My OEM size is 225/65 R17. Based on my reviews downsizing kind of help with traction on ice. My options are 215/70 R16 (2% less in overall diameter) or 225/70 R16 (-0.4%). Which one is a better option? Second question: Micheline Xice and Bridgestone Blizzak top the chart however Cooper Discoverer M+S are 25 percent cheaper. Should i go with the Coopers instead? @Gaurav @Rahimdad @Barry
  8. ...my little car project is going on....i got my bull bar installed and a LED bar onto it and changed all bulbs inside and outside the car to LEDs as well...am so far happy with the results. Now my attention goes towards the tires..mine are the stock version from Al Habtoor....they are about 3 years old and have 30k mileage... - When do you guys change tires? - Is there an age limit where they dont pass anymore RTA vehicle testing and registration? In due course i wanted to upgrade the tires to A/T´s (All Terrain) version. Does anyone have experience or mounted the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 (LT 265/60R18) I like this tire a lot, but am not sure how much the tire noise will increase during driving ? I also wanted to use 50 mm spacers to take the rims a bit out.. Has anyone experience with spacers on their Pajero ? i would greatly appreciate and feedback.. Save Driving to ya all, Saman

  10. I am confused with best offroad tires,that I like to buy soon in a month or two. I amde search on this topic and got siam (tisamia) 900, cooper atr, yokohama geolander atr. If i get some advise from you I will be very happy, thanks have good day.
