Dear Desert Drivers, The long weekend is approaching, and the drive of tomorrow. Thank you for being courageous enough to start with an early wake-up call to spend 4 hours in a hot and dusty environment! We will have a very strong convoy tomorrow, and we will try to make the most of it. We will cross the area called Middle Earth. I don't know really where it comes from, but it suits well for this vast stretch of desert between Solar Park and Faqa. We will have 3 to 4 sets of dunes, separated (or connected) by sabkhas. Dunes will be mostly technical, with higher sand formations in the Little Sweihan area. The soft sand will require all your skills and concentration to maintain momentum. Extra caution will be needed on the ridges and during criss crossing, to keep the balance of your car and maintain a precise driving line. Be prepared to cover some distance as the sabkhas will easily credit additional km. As new joiner you shall complete an Absolute Newbie Drive first, and then there is a progression to Newbie, and Fewbie, and more. As it stands, I will not be able to accept you in the drive. If you have previous off-road experience, you can ask to be considered, to skip the first steps. Please refer to the overview explaining how the club works

Guys, we had an amazing drive this morning. Thank you for participating. It was a real « desert time », with beautiful sceneries, a lot of desert life, and virgin dunes. The route was far from easy, and either in the technical areas, or when surfing these fabulous high ridges, the full concentration of each driver was needed. We only had a few stucks that were quickly solved with team shovelling work, proof, if need be, of the excellent level of the convoy. Special thanks to @Alexanderrr as 2nd lead, watching my back, and holding or adjusting the route when needed. @RiaanJH @Naim Aoun, excellent drive for the Jeeps, @Mohamad Anwer, excellent support from the middle of the convoy, @Mark D, @Karthik Raptor, the raptor boys, very well done, in particular in the tech areas, @Beide Worku, thank you for the sweep, and congratulations for your first FB+. Thank you all for the excellent spirit during the drive, it was a pleasure to lead the group ! I can see pictures in the gallery already, thank you, and yes, these high ridges were beautiful, they will be in my eyes for the full week I think !

Dear Desert Drivers, Thank you for signing up for the drive on Saturday morning. As you know from your recent drives, the sand will be soft, the temperature will rise very rapidly, we might have some wind... real desert conditions, but still good to enjoy a nice ride through the hot sands of Faqa. Most of you know the area already, we will have technical portions, but also large open dunes and high ridges. We will try to keep the drive as fluid as possible. The sand will be soft, and soft shall be your driving. Remember that momentum is key in these conditions, to keep your car moving and to "float" on the soft patches. Avoid any sharp turn, sudden acceleration or breaking, keep your car moving, especially on ridges, or on flat soft pockets, and when you need to stop, do it as far as possible on an incline (downwards) or on hard surface. Also the slip faces will be even more slippery, so don't take any chance, go straight down, and avoid any situation where you will get stuck sideways on a steep incline. I will confirm the convoy order tomorrow at the end of the afternoon. We still have a few candidates for the wait list, please let me know incase you change your plan, so that we can give them a chance to participate. Stay tuned for the next update !
