  3. Thank you for joining the drive today. We had nice runs in the first set of dunes, the highlight being the large bowl that was a good practice for ridge alignment, and climbing from the bottom. Also a strong reminder of the possible effects of gravity. @Abhishek Chikara and @Deepak Eswar found themselves fishtailing and fighting, luckily with no other consequence than a scary moment for all. After crossing the sabkha, the large virgin dunes were inviting. After a few loops and sidies we tried to go inside this maze of small pockets and ridges. The dunes were defending themselves, but we found a way around, and had a nice set of high soft technical terrain inside these massive dunes. Well done every one ! Then we continued to the West, with some nice runs on the white sand unfortunately cut by portions of bushes and vegetation. With the increasing number of bushes, I think this itinerary is losing a bit of its interest, as we don't have anymore the nice flowing portions, .... and the duration of the drive becomes a bit long. Thank you again for staying focused till the end, assisting each other for the recoveries. @Mike M., in SL, @Bjoern and @Mehmet Volga in support, and @Sam Selim @Abhishek Chikara @Deepak Eswar @Glenn W @ChrisW for sharing the fun !

  7. Thank you @Vanessa8580 for taking us out in the sand. Great scenic drive ! Thank you @Emanuel for a proactive support from the middle of the convoy.
  8. Thanks for opening the topic @Frederic. I had a similar reflection some time ago on this topic https://carnity.com/forums/topic/17863-carbon-footprint/ It was more related to offsetting emissions, but obviously the most impact-full action is the reduction of the emissions first. For this, driving with a purpose ( @Mike M.) , mixing driving with other activities (hiking, cleaning, photography, wildlife watching, star/ moon gazing), or just chilling and enjoying life are good directions !
  9. Almost full convoy in one pic, taken from the middle !
  10. Thank you everyone for joining the drive this morning. A beautiful clear day, and still a nice temperature. The small group configuration was perfect to explore the nice dunes of Nahel. Passing the lake, we started a warm up moving up and down in the open dunes, doing a few crossings, testing the grip and the effect of gravity passing over a few pockets or steep descents. The soft sand was adding to the difficulty, as another variable to adjust our driving. Then we reached bigger dunes, an opportunity to push the engines, ... and raising the heart beat ! We could realise the necessity to keep a smooth line when reaching higher speed, and to control the descent always. After the break, the area was more technical, requiring to dose just the necessary amount of power to keep moving. Reaching the sabkha, we still had a bit of time, and I extended to a nice area with smooth rolling dunes, variable sand color, a very relaxing way to end the drive. Very well done @Ana and @Myrko you gained progressively assurance all along the drive. Well done also @Lukas Lewis with the big truck in the technical portions. Thank you @topgear for the 2nd lead, rerouting my lines when needed, @Jeandre Bezuidenhout for sweeping our group, and big thank you @Luke K P for the support and reassuring guidances for the few refusals. See you soon!

  13. Noted @Abdullah A., enjoy the other drive. However, check the timing. I think they have added a drive on Saturday (not Sunday)
  14. @Paul Eldho @Jeandre Bezuidenhout @Lukas Lewis @Suneedh Wrangler @Luke K P @Ana @Myrko @Abdullah A. @topgear @B.K. Thank you for signing up for the Newbie Drive in Nahel Saturday morning. Please make sure that your car is ready for the adventure, your radio fully charged, your flag fitting to the car. Check also the inside and remove unnecessary items from the passenger and trunk areas, and make sure that your off road gear is securely fasten. Take a look at your route to the meeting point. Coming from Dubai, you have 2 main options - E66 / E20 This is the preferred option - E611 / E75 (Truck Rd) / E16 / E20. On this itinerary, the junction E75 - E16 was blocked last week, and may still be blocked. If this second option still works better for you, there is a detour as per the below scheme:

  17. @Alexanderrr @Michael asir @Giacomo @Bjoern @Glenn W @Mehmet Volga thank you for joining the drive today. We had to wait until 8:00 am for the fog to vanish, but it was worth the wait ! We had a fluid drive, no stuck, a few refusals rapidly handled, and we could drive the planned route, barely cutting the playing time in some areas. The weather was beautiful, nice and fresh, and I had a lot of pleasure taking the group along, climbing the dunes, riding the ridges, and passing nice view points and remarquables dunes or bowls. I hope you enjoyed the same. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you soon !
  18. @Suneedh Wrangler @Andrew John Melvill @Marek @Mike M. thank you for joining yesterday. It was a very nice time, enjoying company, watching sun set, and moon rise ! Thanks for the pics @Mike M.
