  5. Thank you @Simon D for taking us out in the sand this morning! Nice and quiet pace, perfect to enjoy the dunes and nice weather. You have perfectly handled the recovery. Rest of the team, thank you for your patience, and participation to the recoveries when needed. It was nice to see you all. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
  6. Your car is an excellent car for this activity. Just take the time to have it properly checked, and replace what needs to be done, and you will enjoy the desert drives ! See you soon
  7. Dear Desert Drivers Thank you for joining the drive today. The short convoy and the good ratio FB vs more experienced drivers gave us the flexibility to explore the Nahel area, and the possibility to try a few challenges. Passing by the lake at the beginning, we started with the nice open rolling dunes as a warm-up, with a few crossings to get a flavor of what was going to come. Then we arrived in a high dunes area, an opportunity for turning around a soft sand bowl, high climbs, high crossings with a view, and steep descent. After the break, we joined a technical area, all going well until at a point we had 3 cars stuck at the same time. Opportunity for the support team to demonstrate different recovery methods. Crossing the sabkha we went into an empty stretch of technical to medium size dunes, with very soft sand, with again very nice desert views. After a short break , a last portion of tech dunes and a sabkha run took us to a relaxing sand track and to the exit. @Wayne Momsen, @Yury @Ozgu, congratulations for a first fewbie drive. A promising start into this new level. @Andrei S, thank you for the second lead, @Rob S and @Ishak, big thank you for the support, @frederic demolder, thank you for being part of the team today. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you soon !

  11. Hi @Andrei S and all, Coming from Dubai, you have 2 main options - E66 / E20 This is the preferred option, and it was clear last week - E611 / E75 (Truck Rd) / E16 / E20. On this itinerary, the junction E75 - E16 was blocked last week, and may still be blocked. If this second option still works better for you, there is a detour as per the below scheme:

  14. Dear Desert Drivers, Thank you for joining the drive this morning. Unfortunately, the drive was shorter than planed, but still, we had great time enjoying the big dunes area of Nahel. A bit of warm-up in the nice open dunes, a few criss crossing to get in the rhythm, and we were ready for some big climbs. As you all have realised, climbing is not just pushing the throttle. Assessing the soft sand, choosing the best line, the best gear, getting the momentum, maintaining the grip, all this is required when the conditions become difficult. Still the convoy got stuck where the steep exit route was becoming difficult as the soft sand was becoming more churned by the different attempts.. I walked back getting my car, and my 2nd lead, and we turned our way back. Then we had a nice section of open dunes and large bowls until unfortunately @Frans M had a nasty nose dive into a pocket, on top of a ridge. Engine oil was leaking. With a common effort of shoveling, and careful pulling, we managed to take the car down on a flat area. Then @Mike M. has towed him on the way to the exit with great care, while I was scouting ahead to find a suitable track. @Glenn W @frederic demolder @Hani crest king @khlief @Giacomo @Zulfikhar Naiyar @Deepak Eswar @Waqaɾ thank you for your patience and active support during the recovery. @Mike M., special thanks for the support, and towing the damaged car out. @Frans M it is tough seeing the damage to your car, I know you are taking great care of it. Hopefully it can get repaired without too much hassle. Great seeing you remain calm and composed during the incident and the recovery. See you all very soon!

  21. Dear Desert Drivers, thank you for joining the drive today. We had a great time in a great variety of terrain. Despite some bushes this area offers beautiful dunes and desert views. We started through the nice open medium size dunes, gently cruising from one side to the other, getting the feeling of the momentum needed to cross the soft sand patches or the climbs. We continued with a few crossings, always impressive when we have to climb without knowing how the sand is behind. One car got stuck just on the top of a sharp ridge, first opportunity to get the shovels. After a small break (thank you @Luke K P for the karak) , we reached a more technical area where the whole group managed to keep going with a continuous momentum (well done all) until we got into the Ghafeteen Bowl. We could push the engines, climb the side, and practice the steep descent in the soft sand. Everyone could understand that going down is not always easier than going up, and requires accurate control of the car. Then it was time to reach the exit, crossing again that technical area and reaching nice rolling dunes until the sand track. @Vanessa8580, @Luke K P, thank you for the support from the middle of the convoy, @Deepak Eswar thank you for the second lead, rerouting when needed, and @Frans M thank you for the sweep, watching our back, @Mei ling @Zsolt @JC_E @Shary @LucasMatt @Kushal Thakkar @Yury very well done, keeping your focus and concentration throughout the drive. @JAISROCK @Zubail thank you for joining us, and getting your shovels when needed ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Please check your route to reach the meeting point. Coming from Nahel on the E95, about 300m before the final location, you will see a road to your right, with a sign "...Holiday Camp..." Take that road. It is closed by a fence. Reach slowly to the fence, it will open by itself. Then continue until you see the other cars.
