Thank you all for joining me this morning. Finally the weather starts to be nice, and it was a pleasure to start with open windows, gently strolling through the dunes with the morning light. Starting was easy but soon we hit the first challenge of the day, with a steep climb with little space for momentum, soft sand on the top, and a sharp edge to cross. 2 cars got stuck on the top, good opportunity to learn where to shovel, (team work, thank you all !) and to talk through what might be challenging when crossing a dune without knowing what is behind. After this warm-up we had a nice flow through bigger dunes, including riding some of the ridges, with nice views of the desert and sabkha around. After the break, we reached a more technical portion, with hidden soft sand patches and narrow dunes. On a tricky crossing, @Lazy Frog was missing a bit of momentum and was dragged into a small bowl with steep edges. A bit of a scary moment as the car was stopped with a steep angle, but again, an opportunity to learn how to recover. As the angle was increasing during shoveling and a first attempt, we secured the car with a strap to another car above, and with a combination of shoveling, and using the capabilities of the FJ (and its driver of course), he got out of the trap. We still had enough time to enter the Ghafeteen bowl and circle around, experiencing the steep descent, and we reached back to our entry point, with a last run at higher pace through the open dunes. Very well done everyone @Lazy Frog, @Aringga, @Menon Arun, @Walter Palk, our NB squad, @Ozgu and @Theo Prado and @Dan S went through the challenges as experienced drivers, with a special thank for my second lead @Theo Prado adjusting my lines when needed. Big thanks also to @Rob S and @Vanessa8580 supporting the drive and providing guidance as required.

Dear Desert Drivers @Theo Prado @Lazy Frog @Aringga @Menon Arun @Walter Palk @Ozgu @Dan S Before the drive tomorrow, please make sure your car is ready for the outdoors, and remove unnecessary items from the back seat and trunk areas. Please take the time also to program your radio to the 10 Carnity Frequences if not done already. You can find guidance here if needed. I will indicate by the end of the day the final list and convoy order. Stay tuned ! Please check your route to reach the meeting point. Coming from Nahel on the E95, about 300m before the final location, you will see a road to your right, with a sign "...Holiday Camp..." Take that road. It is closed by a fence. Reach slowly to the fence, it will open by itself. Then continue until you see the other cars.

We have a few slots available for this Newbie Drive Saturday morning. Yes it is in Abu Dhabi, but maximum 1h15 min from Dubai. If you want to join, or switch from the drive of @Davie Smooth_Operator, it is a nice opportunity to discover a beautiful desert area, and to navigate through bigger dunes in a smaller group.

Thank you @Luke K P for summarizing the drive. We had indeed a great time. The convoy was focused and driving very well. @Arun Menon, you have been amazing for your first drive. The more experienced drivers had a supportive and respectful attitude, thank you for that. With this nice configuration, we were able to cover a long route in a beautiful environment. Hope to see you all very soon for other adventures !

Good morning all Thank you for signing up for the drive tomorrow in Nahel. It will be a quiet crossing of the big dunes close to Nahel, continuing through tracks and sabkha. No real difficulties expected, but still be sure your car is in order, with a tank sufficiently full. Meeting time is at 6:30 am. Be sure to reach no later than this time, so that we can prepare the cars and do a briefing to be on the move before 7:00. I will issue the convoy order by the end of the afternoon, stay tuned.

Thank you @Ishak for a great drive this morning. Well paced, with a nice variety of terrain. I enjoyed particularly the first hour, starting with smooth easy ridges, growing progressively to higher dunes in the beautiful morning light. Excellent choice! It was a pleasure to meet everyone after a long break !

Thank you for joining the drive today. We had a great time in the sand in a very nice desert environment. We started progressively with nice rolling dunes, adding a few crossings to get the sensation of coming to the ridge, not seeing what is below on the other side, and feeling the car tilting and pointing down. Then a few bigger climbs, to really push the engine, and understand the capabilities of our cars. Some steep descents in the soft sand, keeping the car straight and controlling the speed. Finally a small portion of technical dunes before crossing a sabkha and a last run on smooth dunes. We had a few refusals, perfectly normal at this stage, @SAMAR TARIQ got stuck 2-3 times, again nothing bad for a first NB drive. The stucks were solved under the guidance of @Ishak, with the enthusiast shoveling effort from the rest of the team. @SAMAR TARIQ congratulations for your first drive, you have gained assurance during the drive itself. Try to get the feeling of when your car will become stuck to steer down and drive downwards while your car still has momentum. @Fenya, well done for a 2nd drive. Try to anticipate the movement of the car in front of you and adjust the distance accordingly. @Ana nice improvement since your last drive. Continue working on the anticipation to avoid sharp breaking or changes of direction. @Chrismayer very nice control of your car in all the situations today, well done. @Kirill K, @Myrko progressively building experience making the most of your powerful cars. Very well done. Keep learning at FB level, and don't come over-enthusiast too soon. @Zsolt @essam ibrahim very well done today. Always a pleasure to have you in the drive. @Giacomo and @Johannes Roux thank you for assisting me with shared 2nd lead and sweep roles. Well executed in both combinations. And @Ishak, a big thank you for changing your plans and assisting me today, providing guidance as required from the inside of the convoy! You can post your feedback here, and your photos in the gallery. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and see you soon !

Dear Desert Drivers @Giacomo @SAMAR TARIQ @Kashx2 @Fenya @Ana @Chrismayer @Ishak @saumik1989 @Kirill K @Myrko @Zsolt @Johannes Roux @Andrei S You are confirmed for the Newbie drive tomorrow morning in Nahel. Please make sure that your car is ready for the drive, and remove unnecessary items from the passenger and trunk areas. I will issue the convoy order by the end of the afternoon. Please let me know before that in case you changed your plan and cannot attend. Take a look at your route to the meeting point, and try to arrive a bit before the meeting time (6:15 am) so that we can prepare the vehicles and have a safety briefing before starting driving. Coming from Dubai, you have 2 main options - E66 / E20 This is the preferred option - E611 / E75 (Truck Rd) / E16 / E20. On this itinerary, the junction E75 - E16 was blocked last week, and may still be blocked. If this second option still works better for you, there is a detour as per the below scheme: @SAMAR TARIQ you have been added to the drive. Can you please also confirm that your car has a towing point at front and rear. Thank you

Good morning @SAMAR TARIQ Thank you for joining Carnity, and for signing up for the drive on Saturday morning. As you have seen, you are currently on the wait list. I will confirm tomorrow afternoon the final list, and i hope to be able to include you, but please wait for my confirmation to actually join the drive. In the meantime, as it is your first drive with us, can you please add a few details as below, by answering to this topic - your car (Pajero, 2 or 4 doors, mods if any...) - your previous off road experience, if any - confirm you have a tire deflator, flag, and radio (all this is compulsory) - please program your radio with Carnity 10 frequencies BEFORE the drive, you can refer to that post https://carnity.com/advice/offroad/carnity-two-way-radio-frequencies-r119/ - please confirm you have watched the Absolute Newbie video linked above Thank you, and let me know if you have any issue with the above, or any specific question.
