  1. Congrats @Shaaz Shafor the promotion, well deserved..
  2. Thanks @Ale Vallecchifor the report and for all the encouragement and directions given during the drive. It was my first experience riding the ridges which I enjoyed a great deal and has built up some level of confidence towards the end of the drive. Thanks everyone for the commitment and patience shown..
  3. Such a fantastic evening yesterday,Thank you @Anish Sfor the selection of the terrain and leading all the way.. Your self recovery/ exit from the tricky soft patch made my jaws drop ,,,,,Extra spice was added with the bit of rain and sand storm. Drive was flawless at the start but was halted due to the tricky stuck and culprit being me 😬It was a moment of indecision caused the same. thank you all whom jumped out and did the leg work while I was inside the car with a convoluted spine 🙄. I owe you all you all a treat when Covid is over.. Thanks @Gaurav Sonias I made you do extra work, hope fully you don't have another drive to attend on the same day like the last time we were together 🤣. thank you @Marwan Haddad@Sunil Mathew@Ben84 for being there supporting.. I guess this is the Carnity spirit....Last but not least thanks @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilbeing cool and patient as a second lead. I am following you now second time in a row, and see you in 2 weeks buddy. Good day all.

  6. thanks @Srikumar@Frederic@Asif Hussainfor all the advise and feed back. Hoping to learn from the mistakes made and come out as a better driver. The incident on the other drive highlights how valuable these advises are, thank you all. On the other hand... WOW.. what a terrain.. awesome desert.. How accurate was @Frederic when he said the travel from dubai will be well worth it....
  7. Hi @Rory Ashman I felt second will be mostly suited and first can be used if there is only short run up to get out of a bowl etc. for 3rd the issue is mostly it will be below 2500 rpm and to use it for a climb with enough momentum you will need to have a long run up to increase the rpm. Hope it makes sense. I drive a Wrangler too..
  8. Congratulation @Hisham MasaadWell deserved promotion. Looking forward to attend more drives under you.
  9. Thanks @Srikumarfor the clarity on the matter. if this is the case I will go with Yokohama GO15 245/75/16 to avoid any issues.
  10. @SrikumarI believe only Rubicon come with 33inch AT tires and the sport trim I have comes with normal road tires. Its my bad that did not ask enough questions when the workshop said that I will have to do a minimal lift to do fix suitable AT tyres. Now I have gone back to the tyre shop and they have advised us they have 3 options BFH KO2, Cooper AT3 and Yokohama GeolanderO15 are available in 245/75/r16 which is the tyre size I have currently. also they advised that I should be able to fix 265/70/r16 on the same rim without any rubbing issues which might be more suitable on sand due to the width increase. also they are recommending to go with Yokohama GO15 265/70/r16 as Yokohama has less road noise and light weight. Any thoughts on this recommended tyre and will it cause any issue by going from 245 to 265 mm. TIA Anoop
  11. Good Morning All, I have a JKU currently in stock form with factory suspension and tyres. It is mainly my weekend/off road car even though I may take this for some daily trips but not frequently. Many has advised me to get off road A/T tyres as currently it is road tyres 29inch i believe (LT 245 75 R16). But many also pointed out with the stock suspension it may result in tyre rub so it would require a minimum 1-1.5 inch lift or spacers. I am not very keen raising the centre of gravity of the car or spending money if the lift is not necessary. Can any of you please advise if I can change it to a suitable off road AT tyres with current suspension and rims without any modifications which is suitable for off road. If a lift is necessary what is the minimum required and whether it is recommended with spacers or new springs? Also which is the recommend tyres for sand in UAE keeping the usage in mind, TIA Anoop
  12. Thanks @Fredericfor the clear explanation and thought process. the hill climb is duly noted. Since there are 6 gears for the jeep in second i feel like in the power band most of the time. I am still not very confident some times when there is a very short run up to get out of a bowl or when i see very soft churned up sand i tend to keep it in first until I get out of that particular difficulty, even though in my mind i feel changing to second might have been the correct approach.
  13. Dear Fellow Carnitians, Could you please advise on the gear use while driving manual off road? As example a climb like pink rock, can this be done on second gear or only to be done on first (or can attempt to change in between during the climb? or a bad idea). Also is there any real negatives if first gear is used extensively during the drive. Also is there any occasion, where in flat dunes we can go to 3rd gear if the rpm is around 2.5K. Advises are much appreciated. TIA
