Theodoros Andreou
Hey Guys, My name is Theo and I am close to buy a Pajero 2017 model the GLS V6 .( it is the 3.0 or 3.5L engine if I am right ) .Could someone help me with some questions that I have ? Does the car have a timing belt or chain ? I think belt right ? Approx I know that the belt neeeds to be changed after 100K correct ? Do we know based on your expreriences after how many KMs the pajero needs a timing belt change? That one that I am looking to purchase has no service book and has 116K on the clock . Does the car have a brain for example to connect into a pc and see at least when oils and filters changed ? If I buy that I will book it in for : Engine oil and filters , cabin filter , Break pads ( If needed ) , anything else ? like vital parts - checks that I am missing ?? Any help will be much appreciated !! Thank you in advance , Theo

The 3.8 model will have the 3.8 label on the backside and also when you open the bonnet you will find the large MIVEC logo on the engine cover. If that is not there i would say it's probably a 3.5. The car has a timing belt, if there is no service book i would highly recommend to get the belt done. Better to spend on a belt than to replace the engine. I think 120k is the belt service but not 100% sure. The car has a brain (ECU) but will not show last services. My opinion: if there is no service history or book from the previous owner: WALK AWAY. There are tons of nice Pajeros for sale with full service history from the dealer, so i believe it's not worth the risk, unless the price is REALLY very low. 2 "Go as far as you can see; once you get there, you'll be able to see further." Simon D
Hi @Theodoros Andreou, As mentioned by @Fredericits better to get yourself a pajero with a service booklet, as this will cause you less headaches even if it was a bit more expensive . If you buy bit without a clear service history then you will have to spend around 4,000 to 5,000 aed to change all the consumable parts including the timing belt( as the you will have to consider them overdue and needs changing) Anyway good lock with your new purchase
