Car not getting started!

Please discuss the possible reasons of car not getting started. And suggest some quick checks that one can do immediately when facing such a problem. Thanks

I read once in an auto magazine about the common reasons of no start in a car. And i remember some of them:

1. When the battery is out of charge or low.

2. If the battery cables are loose.

3. if the ground connections are not clean or loose.

4. If the relay has high voltage.

5. failure of ignition switch

I know these common reasons.

I would also like to add up some common reasons that i know.

1. Open Brake pedal switch and check the voltage of the same. If higher, then faulty switch.

2. May be engine is locked up because of internal damage or bearing failure.

3. May be coolant is leaking from the head gasket.
