  1. Hey Stephan, In the end it makes no great difference and is largely just a question of convenience. If you plan to offroad regularly (say once a week on average), then having a fixed onboard compressor is useful and is one less thing to pack and remember. If you want to avoid making any changes to your car, or you’re happy to pack your equipment each time you go off-roading, a portable unit is a great option. I went for a fixed installation onboard compressor in my Jeep as I take it out regularly enough to benefit from the saving of time and space taken up in the car.

  2. hp/tonne vs hp/ton. so it will be around 89 hp/ton. still in the Borderline OK.

  3. Hello lads, Been a long time since I’ve been here (about to change soon). I’m looking to upgrade from the mighty Jimny to the new FJ. Its no OG FJ in any way shape or form but would be cool to know the experts thoughts. ✌️

  5. Good to see you back here mate. A quick google gives me the following info,.. 1,970kg @ around 160HP from the 2,.7 litre engine. Power to weight ratio of 81 which puts it just in the 'Borderline OK for dunes' category from @Gauravs previous spreadsheet. Its around the same weight, but around 70hp less than the previous gen FJ. Of course in the end it comes down to the driver

  6. Hello Frederic, absolutely great piece of writing. Very useful. I am wondering about the best option between a compressor mounted in the car (for example under the passenger seat - Offroad Zone does that with an ARB), or a compressor that one needs to plug to the battery each time it is needed. There is an obvious difference in price... But what is the most practiced here? Is it inconvenient to open the hood, plug to the battery each time needed? Thanks in advance for you view on that. 9. Hi Andrei, is the quick connect coupler installed on the FJ the same standard/style as the US ARB one? Japanese/EURO etc. have different depths or profiles that could result in poor attachment. If the adapter you have doesn't have the right spec then that could be the issue. But I'm just guessing as I haven't seen a close up what you got.

  10. Hi All, has anyone came across a similar situation? I have a stock compressor on FJ and installed arb which died the other day. Always used arb and did not realize that stock output is male while the connector hose is also male(arb outpout socket is female). I got the adaptor but still cannot connect properly as it unclips or loose. Any ideas how to use the stock temporary or go straight to arb replacement? cheers
