  1. Hey @Rafey Hashmi! Good to see you back my friend! I've been following your content online and love it! The new FJ is in my opinion a great lifestyle overlanding / off-roading / camping 4x4 that has the proven Toyota reliability and a bulletproof 2.7. We know that the existing FJ owners are largely disappointed due to the departure of the mighty 4.0 V6, but you of anyone should know by now that fun is not always measured in horsepower. I've driven underpowered 4x4's for most of my life and will honestly say it's been so much fun to find a smooth line and make it up a large dune. You've driven in Liwa with me and your Jimny took it all with a smile, and i believe the new FJ Cruiser would do the same for you. Drake's opinion about the new FJ:

  2. Congratulations @J-P L on reaching the Advisor Level with Carnity Offroad Club! Dear Jean-Pierre, you have navigated that Jimny of yours through all possible terrain now, and your support duties you've delivered have been extraordinary. Now comes the time you will start leading convoys yourself and we are so proud and thankful to have you amongst us, and looking forward to trying to follow you ! @Ale Vallecchi will be your Professor taking you through the leaders lead sessions that will be organized soon! 🧑‍🏫 🏅 Advisor Level The Advisor Level is the cornerstone of Team Carnity’s structure. Even as you progress to higher ranks, you will always remain an Advisor first. This role is about constructively helping, supporting, and advising others with mutual respect as part of our multicultural family. Advisors are encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and exchange views at any level - always respectfully, professionally, and confidentially for internal use. This is the stage where your biggest transformation begins - from skilled off-roader to capable leader. 📌 Leaders Lead Session At this level, you’ll join the exclusive Leaders Lead sessions - an intensive program with homework and pre-drive preparation. These sessions, conducted by Crew members for a select few Advisors, cover: Advanced Sand Reading & Planning – terrain assessment, level setting, and emergency exits. Navigational Leadership – using software to manage and scale convoy leads. Extreme Convoy Management – leading, recovering, and handling convoys in the toughest UAE deserts. This is exclusive, invaluable training available only to Advisors. 🚙 Path to Expert Level Once you’ve completed the three steps above, you’ll be eligible to start leading under supervision: Minimum 2 partial leads in daytime Fewbie drives (under Expert/Marshal/Crew supervision). Minimum 4 full Fewbie leads planned, posted, and executed (Expert/Marshal/Crew supervision). You may take on additional partial or full leads if you’d like more time to build confidence. Upon successfully completing this journey, you’ll qualify for Expert promotion - a milestone that marks the beginning of your leadership legacy.

  7. Congratulations @ChrisW for reaching the Expert Level with Carnity Offroad Club. Surely we have all noticed the quiet rise of a titan amongst us. Chris's background in Engineering, Aviation (and so many other lives already lived ), and his time spent in the dunes, resulted in an Expert off-roader who not only loves to coach and get Carnity offroaders surfing on the dunes, but loves to understand the nuts and bolts and intricacies of vehicles, performance, gps analysis and what not. Having said that, his calm demeanor, humility, fine sense of humor, wit, and sarcasm, makes for a fine fellow to spend an evening with around a campfire in the Arabian deserts! We are extremely proud having him amongst our mids and hope for many more seasons in the sand! 13. Hey Stephan, In the end it makes no great difference and is largely just a question of convenience. If you plan to offroad regularly (say once a week on average), then having a fixed onboard compressor is useful and is one less thing to pack and remember. If you want to avoid making any changes to your car, or you’re happy to pack your equipment each time you go off-roading, a portable unit is a great option. I went for a fixed installation onboard compressor in my Jeep as I take it out regularly enough to benefit from the saving of time and space taken up in the car.

  15. Fitted mine in the Defender's engine bay. A bit hot, and as @ChrisW said, she is a bit fussy, so I have to remember to open the hood when using the compressor a bit longer. And probably more importantly, as I found out last night,: DON'T FORGET TO TAKE MY PHONE FROM THE CONVENIENT PLACE ON TOP OF THE RADIATOR, BEFORE CLOSING THE HOOD!!! I chose to install the little manifold and the Bluetooth controller with it, to make things easier avoid additional switches in the cabin. You can then set programmable pressure options and it regulates it all by itself, though I fail to see the point in reducing pressure via the controller. The compressor's controller is connected via the Garmin Powerswitch for the same convenience: accessible on the phone and carplay! Again, ensure you put the phone back in your pocket after use, see note above... The air outlet I led through the side of the car, opposite of the engine air intake, which has no function with my engine, (for people blessed with a bigger wallet: it does with the Octa). Great for access and the normal ARB hose is long enough to get to all tires from that point. Key takeaways are: make sure you still have sufficient airflow/cooling otherwise it will just stop working in best case until reset, or cease in worst. Ensure you fuse your power supply, for some reason the first fuse blew only after it fried one of the motors in the compressor. Luckily ARB gave me a new one after they did some checking!

  16. @ChrisW fantastic write up. Thank you sharing. I have fitted my compressor at the same location (jeep jk 2 door), small compartment in the trunck. The problem i got was overheating and I blow a fuse. Now I always use a small stick to keep it open, during the usage, so it has a better air circulation.

  34. Hello Frederic, absolutely great piece of writing. Very useful. I am wondering about the best option between a compressor mounted in the car (for example under the passenger seat - Offroad Zone does that with an ARB), or a compressor that one needs to plug to the battery each time it is needed. There is an obvious difference in price... But what is the most practiced here? Is it inconvenient to open the hood, plug to the battery each time needed? Thanks in advance for you view on that.
