  6. After seeing an immense interest in Carnity drives and meet up's, we have decided to use the Calendar module for better organizing and preserving our memories. Calendar link is placed on top navigation bar for ease of use. Moving forward, everyone enrolling for drives or meet up's need to "RSVP" the calendar in addition of listing their name and mobile number in the drive thread. All discussions will be done in forum as usual. Main advantage for using this Calendar is now we can plan and list drives in advance, and as this calendar is open to all so anyone can create an event and await other members participation. Secondly, after the drive is concluded this Calendar will serve as single point of data collection of discussions, list of participants, drive images and video. All our previous drives has been listed in the calendar: January Events February Events March Events April Events

  20. MotionX GPS Navigation App for iOS users One of the best GPS Navigation App thoroughly tested in UAE for off-road use Estimated read time: 5 minutes After an extensive test based among many GPS Navigation app for iOS and Android smartphones, we finally settled for MotionX being the best GPS navigation app. MotionX GPS offers very intelligent and intuitive way to adapt to the different conditions and offer simple yet powerful GPS navigation app that is totally impressive. We have been testing MotionX for over 3-4 months time now on 20+ different routes and terrains from sand, wadi, mountains and ocean and it simply never failed on anything. Unlike many other smartphone navigation app, MotionX doesn't heat up the phone or chew extensive battery. It also doesn't break the signal in middle of no coverage area and always continue to record/show the track as expected. The only Android app that comes closer to MotionX is Maverick, but it still has some teething issues and need some more time to mature. Fullpower released the MotionX-GPS for iPhone users in October 2008 and since then they have been successfully capturing the new technology and enhancing this navigation app capabilities. MotionX-GPS is a handheld GPS Multi-Sport app for runners, hikers, sailors, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), cyclists, geocachers, and other outdoor sport enthusiasts. It leverages the iPhone built-in GPS chip as well as other on-board sensors to provide location data. MotionX-GPS supports map data provided by OpenStreetMap, Google, Bing, Apple and others. One of our personal favorite feature in MotionX is it's capability to allow you to load Google satellite maps that can show the dunes formation, slip faces, sabkha's, wadi's, easy access points etc. (if you know how to read google maps). Of course this feature requires 3G / 4G connection when venturing in new area, but if you browse area before at home or on 4G then it can comfortably load cached map and allow you to record tracks, timing and waypoints easily. It's really an intelligent way to beat Garmin's Montana - Bird's eye view (paid subscription) in a comfort of your pocket size existing smartphone, no more devices to handle on dashboard while hitting the dunes. Some of the key and best features: MAPS See your position and tracks anywhere in the world on fast live MotionX open topographic and road maps. Course-up and direction-up maps. Best map selection from 14 different sources: Google, Bing, Apple Road, Satellite and Hybrid maps. RECORD TRACKS Record and save up to 300 tracks. See your track in real-time with Track up, North up, or Direction Up, then follow it later if you want to retrace your path. Record time, distance, speed and max speed. Live speed and altitude graphs. MARK WAYPOINTS Save up to 2500 personal waypoints for your favorite locations. Use the MotionX TapTap® tool for easy waypoint creation. Add a geotagged photo to capture the moment! ONBOARD MAPS Most accurate iPhone GPS App Downloading and storing maps for offline access is faster and easier than ever. MotionX maps can be cached for offline access and lightning fast rendering! MotionX Terrain and Road maps and NOAA marine charts can be downloaded for offline use for free. NAVIGATION Use the compass for orientation in True or Magnetic bearings. Visualize your progress and ETA while navigating. View coordinates in UTM, MGRS, OSGB (UK grid), Lat/Lon format. SHARING Post your tracks and waypoints to Facebook or Twitter, or email them to share. Share your location and see where your friends are in real-time using the Auto Live Updates feature. 21. Atif 0 Posted Thursday at 05:53 PM · Report Hi wildcat. How good Is the 4.0 Prado as an offroad 4x4? Like this Quote Edit Options Rahimdad 95 Posted yesterday at 09:18 AM · Report Hi @Atif I know I am not wild cat, but still let me answer your query. Let me start by saying that the Toyota Prado 4.0 is a very capable off-roader, however things to be considered is the level of trips that you want to make. if it is just occasional off-roading in easy to medium areas the Prado is very capable without any modifications. However, if you feel that you want to go for more advanced of extreme drives in more challenging areas, the Prado 4.0 is still very capable but needs a little lift, slightly bigger tires and a skid plate to protect the bumpers as those bumpers are really easy to loose. i would also recommend to either know where your airbags fuses are to remove during the drives, or fit a switch which would deactivate the airbags as certain manoeuvres can trigger the airbag to go off. Both the SWB and LWB are capable vehicles, but you get better arrival and departure angles on the SWB. Hope this helps. I have to change my tyres soon so can I install slightly larger ones without lifting it? I suppose the fuel consumption on roads will increase wit this change of tyres? I also did not realize that the airbags can be an issue. Like this Quote Edit Options Rahimdad 95 Posted yesterday at 11:09 AM · Report @Atif As explained earlier it all depend son the level of drive you are interested in, I would suggest a metal plate, bolt on application for the rear bumper also, as it is hollow and like Pajero can be bent by dragging sand in the back. Normally if you increase the tire size it causes rubbing issues as the factory fitted tires are the biggest size you can get without rubbing issues, always better to get a 2 inch lift, than you can enjoy bigger tires. Second thing about the increase in fuel consumption is only if you get heavier tires, if you are just changing the tires to a slightly bigger size the change in fuel consumption should be a minimum. Regarding airbags, the real danger is if you have side airbags which are programmed in such a way that if you are doing a 45 degree side slopping and if you perform a criss cross, that is slide to the other side of the dune doing a 45 degree slop in the opposite direction, than the car computer tells it there is a tilt of 90 degree which means the car has rolled over to its side, this deploys the airbags. If you have not done extreme off-roading than you have not been through this manoeuvre. However if your interest grows it is at least better to locate where the air bag fuse is and remove it for the advance drive. For ridge cutting or criss crossing see below video at 50 seconds onward to understand better. Like this Quote Edit Options
