The most common reason of clutch failure is the oil leak. If this is the case, then one should never replace the clutch until and unless the oil leak is fixed. Another reason can be bearing not installed properly. In such a case, the driver should not rapidly ride the clutch every time. I suppose these are the common clutch failure in a car. Maintenance actually depends upon how old the car is? If you are buying a new BMW car, then comparatively with other cars, you dont have to spend for maintenance for may be next 5 years. But if you are buying an old car, then you are not only welcoming the car in your house, but also all the associated maintenance issues with it. So just keep a note on that!
