  4. Thanks @Frederic for this well defined off-road flag guidelines, as many people have asked me the same in newbie drives.
  5. TRIP REPORT One of those rare days, when it's not your day and last Friday was my turn. Reached meeting point and noticed one of my rear tire was at 4 PSI and failed to hold air after two attempts. Tried repairing the puncture and still it wasn't holding the air properly. Tried to replace with spare, but lug nuts were too tight (pressure gun) that I couldn't open them. So finally I decide to leave my car inside the desert and drove Vanessa's car to continue the drive. Apologies for all the delays and such unexpected series of events one after the other. Although it's super rare that I don't recollect having a puncture in last 5-6 years, but anything and everything is possible when you plan to off-road. Driving a big blue (3.8 Pajero) was quite fun and soon the whole convoy got the taste of their first absolute newbie drive in the Qudra desert. We still managed to cover about 20-25 km good fun drive covering with all basics of offroading and dealing with couple of refusal and stucks, including myself (lol) as big blue estimates were way off compared to my SWB Pajero. @Jordan Cope we have missed you on this drive, hope to see you soon on the next one. @Nathan Evans your beautiful Jimny is great for newbie - fewbie (I hope) level drive. You have done fantastic for the first drive and keep learning to drive Jimny as every car need some time to get used to. In your case, you also need to experiment the best tire pressure (lower, the better) without popping your tires off the rim (off course, its fixable with 10 mins). @Adrian Little appreciate your sensible approach to go back, when we realized that Porsche approach angle and ground clearance is just a tad shy than 8 inches. Hope to see you again, soon. @belal hadi you have done great too and keep on working with the frequent use of HI/Lo gear while self-recovering. @Mohamad Nasser thanks for giving me a tug with your beast. As you keep driving, you also need to keep experiment with different tire pressure as BF Goodrich are quite heavy and in some future drives you might lower them to 10-12 PSI (when needed). @Hazem Ali It was sad that you have to go back, as we really cannot accept "any vehicle" on "any drive" without front and rear tow points - strictly mandatory for all carnity drives. @Paul Zeitoun it was nice to hear your RAM scream in sync with Raptor to remind me in front that I have two V8 beast rolling happily behind the convoy. You have done great for absolute newbie drive and will love your RAM even more moving forward. @bassel el rafei your LC without the lower lip must be a totally new and relaxing experience for you. Good you have removed it to have more ground clearance and enjoy the dunes with greater peace of mind. As I have not heard any refusal or stuck from you, so you must be doing good at back. @Zaeem Haral thanks for taking up the sweep (responsible) position on your very first drive due to an eventful start. All your support and communication were highly appreciable. Hope your car bumper get sort out soon and will see you next week. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. 9. @Paul Zeitoun please confirm that you have rear tow hitch receiver, without which we don't allow any vehicle to join off-road drives. This below hitch empty bracket is not acceptable. And those two flimsy holes on either side aren't tow hook and they are for holding your trailer chains Welcome @Nathan Evans Jimny are super cute desert toy and reasonably capable for off-road drives. Please RSVP on the calendar

  11. Welcome @Jordan Cope to Carnity and it's off-road club, where we promote how to drive, manage and "EXCEL" with stock cars. There is no end to car mods especially power mods (been there, done that), but instead if you work on learning the right skills then you can surely understand if additional hp or torque is really needed or not. May I know your total off-roading experience? We have been getting these questions every time on every drive and you can still install chip, filters, exhaust, headers, suspension, tires based on tall claims and still not be satisfied - overtime. Every modification you do on your car will compromise it's reliability and leave you with huge learning curve where you will still keep wondering why I have installed a supercharger and still not able to climb as it still upshift at wrong time. Car manufacturers design vehicle based on years of research and data, which you and I don't have time and money to invest to find the clear winner. Second point, every vehicle has certain limitations based on gravity and physics - at least in offroading. With right skills and experience you can learn how to safely negotiate with these limitations to a greater extent. Example: Learn to choose a path with least resistance, Use gravity as your friend to climb higher than fighting with gravity - head on (which nobody wins), Correcting your lines of attack and riding by flattening the path when loosing momentum. Third, super modified cars are a huge risk to catch fire in extreme pushing and that's why RTA controls that to a greater extent. And even if you get away with RTA safe passable limits, then visiting your mechanic every week and leaving car for 6 days with mechanic for 1 day fun is not an ideal situation. Genuinely there is too little you can bump (10%-15%) in power without breaking many rules and wallet, so instead master your off-road skills and learn overtime to work your way up with existing hp and torque you got. Not only this will make you an awesome off-roader but you will go home with a great sense of achievement after every drive. Plus without any risk of reliability or additional expenses for tall claims that hardly delivers. Btw, I do drive stock Pajero, 3.5 with just a modified exhaust, that I installed after 2 years of driving. No chip, no filter, no headers.
  12. LAST REMINDER @belal hadi,@HAZEM.Ali Welcome to Carnity Offroad Club @Zaeem Haral Kindly reply with a small introduction: Which 4x4 are you driving ? Any prior offroading experience ? Does the vehicle have front and back towpoints and are they in perfect condition ? As a perfect preparation for your first drive with us, please go through the Absolute Newbie Briefing video posted below: MUST WATCH: NEWBIE VIDEO BRIEFING For your first drive, please bring a tire pressure gauge and a deflator so you can deflate your tires. These are readily available in ACE, Speedex, AdventureHQ, or even at any fuel station or tire shops near you. If you do have already other offroad gear such as a flag, radio, shovel, or others, please bring it along as well. Important note: The Al Qudra Last Exit petrol station where we will be exiting has a compressor to inflate your tires, but lately it has been either defective or hardly working at all. So if you have a compressor plz bring it along as well.
  13. @Dr Tariq Mahmood as you have already driven "Absolute Newbie" with @Frederic last week, so please join the newbie drive. If drives are full then waitlist your name and trip lead might add you in case of any drop outs. Absolute Newbie drives are strictly for first timer only, hence I'm removing your RSVP.
  14. Thanks @Paul Zeitoun looking forward to see you on Friday. Please make sure that your Dodge ram has rear hitch receiver or stock tie-down or another tow point at rear too.

  16. Hi @Adrian Little for this first absolute newbie drive, we will provide you the spare radio. From the second drive onward you need to get your own Shovel, Safety Flag and Radio. I did tried my 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo in sand long ago, I hope your air suspension is still lifting additional 2 inches, that is blessing for off-roading. If not, you can still drive with stock 8.5 inches clearance but in newbie drives you have to be very cautious while going down the dunes. Ill explain more on this later when we meet. Please make sure that your front bolt-on tow-hook is installed in front and remove the rear plastic that hide the rear tow point.
  17. Totally agree with Rahimdad on this, after COVID we can't do such things. Btw, Dubai municipality fine upto 50k dhs for desert safari camp sites for leaving any trash behind. If you suspect it was a party or safari camp trash send the pin location to DM and they will figure out the way to handle it. Good observation and concern for wild life, well done.
